Natsu looked at his childhood friend squirming in her spot, while he took time to process the question. After about two mintues of thinking he finally realized what she was actually meaning, making him blush. He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly and looked away.
Still waiting for his answer, Lisanna looked at her crush to find him flustered and a healthy shade of pink. She felt crushed and close to tears but stayed strong.
"Natsu, I like you!" She blurted out, catching his attention completely. He stared at her, unsure of what to say.
"Well yeah, I like you too. You are like my little sister after all," Natsu said back, confused as of why Lisanna looked upset. She shook he head at his denseness and sighed.
"No Natsu. I mean I like like you. Like the boyfriend and girlfriend kind of way." She explained nervously, watching Natsu's reaction carefully. Natsu took awhile to process what she was saying, and something clicked.
"Oh," He muttered out, while Lisanna waited for his answer.
"Oh,"
"So, what's your answer?" Lisanna asked, even though she already knew his answer herself. It wouldn't hurt trying.
"Sorry Lisanna, but I like someone else." He finally said, slightly afraid that he had hurt her feelings.
"I see," Her bangs covered her eyes, making Natsu unable to see her reaction. "You like Lucy don't you?"
For the second time today, the male blushed. He sheepishly scratched the back of his head and looked around for anyone before responding.
"Yeah, but she doesn't know yet, so please don't tell her,"
"I knew it," Lisanna murmured, her face now visible to Natsu. Tears cascaded down her cheeks, her eyes red. This sight made Natsu feel bad about his confession, but he couldn't lie to her.
"Sorry, I have to go."
"Wait Lisanna!" He tried to reach for her, but she slipped out of his grasps.
Her figure got smaller and smaller until it disappeared in the distance. She was gone. Unrequited love hurt.

"Natsu, have you seen Lisanna anywhere?" Mirajane asked, when Natsu had gone back. He glumly shook his head no, watching Lucy who was playing in the pool with Levy. The tone of his voice surprised her, as she felt concerned for the boy.
"Did something happen, Natsu?" He turned away ashamed, but continued to stare at Lucy.
"No, why do you ask?"
"Because you're acting strange!" She was getting angrier by the second, and Natsu wasn't helping. There was a deathly silence, afterwards, both of them remained silent.
"Lisanna confessed to me," Natsu finally said, surprising Mira. She regained her composer and looked at the stressed out boy.
"She did?"
"Yeah, I wasn't expecting it." His gaze remained on Lucy who continued to play with Levy, unaware that he was watching her.
"I knew she was going to confess to you, but I didn't think she would now," She whispered, following Natsu's gaze to Lucy. "But you like Lucy don't you?"
"Yeah I do, which was why I had to reject Lisanna. I didn't like her anymore than a sister and I think that's how I hurt her," Natsu watched as Lucy headed towards them. He managed to smile at her, but when she left with Levy again, his smile disappeared.
"I'm sure Lisanna understands. She's strong," Mira laughed and patted Natsu on the back. "The real question is, what are you going to do now?"
"I don't know," He stared at a white cloud in the sky. "I don't know."
"Today was fun, wasn't it Natsu?" Lucy asked, walking along the ledge on the sidewalk.
"Yeah it was," He agreed, looking at the night sky before them. "Hey Luce?"
She turned her attention to him, and stopped walking to listen to what he had to say.
"Yeah? Is something the matter?" She questioned, her brown eyes gazing into his charcoal ones. He gulped and slightly avoided eye contact.
"Are you free tomorrow?" Lucy giggled, while Natsu gave her a curious look.
"I actually am." She paused, her tone teasing. "Why? Are you going to ask me out on a date?"
"Why would I do that?! I was just wondering if you wanted to hangout!" He denied instantly, his cheeks a healthy shade of pink and red. Natsu looked away sheepishly, while Lucy laughed.
"Okay then, I'll 'hangout' with you," She said, as they reached her apartment. She waved at him, before disappearing into her apartment, leaving Natsu dumbfounded.

Natsu nervously fixed the collar of his dress shirt as he looked himself in the mirror. Today was their dat- hangout and he had dressed up oddly nice. For the hundredth time, he fixed his spikey hair up and tried to smooth out the wrinkles on his dress shirt.
For the thousandth time that day, he looked at himself in the mirror. Would Lucy think he was too dressed up? If that was the case would she think that he was trying too hard? Sighing, he went back into his closet and rummaged through all the clothes her owned.
Perhaps something casual would be better. He finally picked out an outfit, and got dressed. Though when he looked at himself in the mirror, he frowned. Would Lucy think he was dressed up too plain? Would she think he wasn't trying hard enough?
Going through his clothes again, he found his favorite T-shirt and jeans and put them on. He looked at himself in the mirror and frowned again. His jeans had holes in them, and his T-shirt had a faded dragon on it. Thinking negatively, Natsu wondered if Lucy would like what he was wearing. Did he look too much like a bad boy delinquent? Would she think that he couldn't afford new clothes?
Natsu groaned and rummaged through his closet again. This was going to take longer than he had expected.
I apologize for the late update and short chapter, but I actually have some bad news. Well to be more honest, I've been late with some updates because I've been watching Katekyo Hitman Reborn (203 episodes + 1 OVA) for the last few days and I have been neglecting this. Don't worry though, cause I finished the anime in 3 days and now I'm almost finished reading the manga.
Anyways, the bad news is that this fanfic in ending in like one to two chapters, and second of all, school is starting again for me pretty soon. I'll try to get the last chapter published before school starts, but if not then it's going to be published pretty late.
I appreciate everyone who has favorite, followed, and/or reviewed this fanfic.
