Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters of rise of the guardians but I did think of young Bluey.
Bunnymund the Easter Daddy
Chapter: 2.
Two days later...
It was the day that Bunnymund was fearing. House inspection!
One of North's Yetis would come and look at the house to see if anythings changed since the last annual visit but if he sees any signs of Bluey's presence then thats Bluey gone because the overgrown behemoth would tell the leader of the Guardians and that would spell disaster.
Bunnymund was trying his best to hide Bluey and he was scurrying all over the place to find a good place to hide him.
The baby bunny was clinging on to his father's chest fur while the very worried Pooka bunny father was running up the stairs and into his room and he suddenly spotted the closet.
Without a seconds hesitation, Bunnymund opened the door of the wardrobe and placed Bluey in the washing basket stashed within there which was stuffed with random clothes (that was just there for some reason) and he placed a few eggs, named Spot and Magenta, in there with him to babysit.
Bunnymund slowly and quietly closed the door and once it was closed, he had a very guilty look on his face. He didn't really WANT to stick his son inside a dark place but it was for his own good and he needed to tell himself that.
"Its for his own good..." Bunnymund repeated what the little voice in his head was telling him with a sigh as he placed a paw on the wardrobe door before he bolted off down the stairs to hide the rest of the baby things.
The crib was hidden underneath a huge cloth, the bottles of milk and a few other things were hidden underground outside the burrow, and the other baby stuff were hidden by Bunnymund's egg minions.
Everything should have been perfectly hidden now.
As soon as everything was both clean and rid of the baby accsesories, Bunnymund was standing in the middle of the main room with his arms behind his back.
As Bunnymund was about to walk upstairs to check up on Bluey, however, a slight roar had pierced the air and announced the arrival of the hairy beast that had become the feared guest that frightened the fearless rabbit to death.
Bunnymund quickly licked his paws together worriedly and wiped them across his eye brows to make himself look a bit more sophisticated before he hopped on all fours to open the hole but in his mind, he was just about ready to pass out since his heart was jumping all over the place in his chest.
Little did Bunny know however was that he had left the doors open just a tiny bit thus Bluey had gotten out of the washing basket and pushed the door open with a bit of difficulty due to his small size but no matter how hard the eggs were trying to pull him back in, Bluey succeeded and crawled out of the dark space and into the open hallway.
The little rabbit giggled in satisfaction before bouncing off to search for his father.
Bunnymund was showing the yeti, Phil, around his burrow but when they reached the covered crib, Bunny had told the beast that it was a box full of new paints before they went upstairs to continue their investigation.
Bunnymund was really panicking now.
What if Bluey had not fallen asleep? What would happen if Bluey had fallen out of the basket and hit his head? What if the Yeti sees Bluey? All these questions were going in a loop inside the Easter Bunny's head but it was the last one which he was mostly fearing.
As soon as they reached the closet, Bunnymund quickly dashed infront of the door before lying with a nervous smile, growing really defensive all of a sudden "I am currently storing carrots inside, Mate, so you cannot get in just in case they get a serious poisoness side effect to the air in here."
It was a lame excuse, he knew, but his parental instincts were screaming out in pain. He was terrified now because that Yeti could very possibly see the tiny rabbit that was his son!
The Yeti grunted dismissively while looking at the clip board he was holding.
Bunnymund now was chewing his paw-nails nervously as that last question that was previously looping through his mind was ringing alarm bells inside his mind now. His ears were very low and pointed towards each side as they mirrored his feelings.
Both Bunnymund and Phil had gotten a huge surprise when they saw only 4 eggs exclaiming cute little squeaks while jumping up and down in apparent urgency.
The yeti shot Bunny a scowl and Bunnymund laughed nervously before shrugging "Maybe my googies ate the supposedly frail carrots?" The Easter bunny looked at the grumpy creature before quickly scooping up the squeaking eggs.
"Uh, I'll go tell 'em off for eating all of my carrots!" Exclaimed Bunnymund in a quivering, thick, Aussie-accented voice as he ran out the door. Leaving the Yeti alone in the room while looking very sispisious and he wrote more stuff down in his note pad, mumbling inaudible words to himself.
The eggs were facing the floor as failure awaited them all while they were in the rabbit's open paws and Bunny rolled his eyes sarcastically. He should have know. that the gullible little things would have fell for that lie before saying in a hushed whisper "Oh for the love of Dinkum. I am not really gonna yell at ya 'Lil Gumbee's!" The eggs lightened up immediately and jumped in pure rejoice and then Bunny asked the 4 Easter eggs in a calm tone of voice but it was threaded with a sense of dread.
"Now, please tell me: where. Is. Bluey?!" He half demanded half whispered, his voice a little louder and gotten a little angry by the end of that question and then one of the eggs gave a few squeaks which Bunnymund could understand (Authors note: Why else would he be working with Easter eggs if he wouldn't understand them?).
He listened intently to what they were telling him through hushed squeaks and noises but his facial expression was growing steadily more paranoid with every second that ticked by.
A sharp gasp left his throat when they finished.
"What?!" Exclaimed Bunny "Bluey crawled out the door from youse and now he is crawling around the house unsupervised!?" The little waddling eggs nodded themselves in reply, knowing that their boss had just repeated everything they had just said.
Bunny closed his eyes to gather his thoughts together and after a couple of moments, Bunnymund had put a plan together.
"Alrightie. Youse are gonna go and I'll-" Bunnymund was inturrpted when he felt something wet drop on his head. After feeling it, he knew it was most likely spit since it hardly ever rained here in the Warren but when he dared to look up Bunnymund could only stare in both sheer terror and perplex.
Bluey was grasping on tightly on one of the loose vines which were growing on the ceiling before forming little swings that you could swing across from it you were small enough. Bluey had never climbed before before so Bunnymund wasn't entirely sure weather he should be proud or horrified of this new development.
After seeing that Bluey was about to let go off the vine his tiny paws grabbed on to, Bunnymund decided to go with the Paranoid option and he lept from the banister and caught Bluey just before he fell off, slamming down to his front with the tiny bundle of fur in his arms.
After crashing on the ground, Bunnymund quickly passed his son to the crowd of eggs whom had quickly scurried beside him so they could take Bluey outside and hide as soon as Bunnymund placed Bluey on top of them and the Yeti came running down to investigate what was going on.
Phil gave frustrated roars and grunts as he demanded to know why the guardian of hope was acting so shifty and suspicious. He then looked at Bunnymund whom now had a serious scrape and a floor burn to the chest and Bunny just said while lowering his ears and while seething a little from the sharp pain he was in "Ughhh...I...I just tripped while going to the kitchen to make youse a chocolate cake..."
Again that was a stupid excuse but he couldn't think of much after the ordeal of this afternoon and was in no mood to just make up any better ones.
Phil seemed to have bought it, though, and just shook his head whilst storming out the burrow entrance in a rage. Clearly Bunnymund didn't need to understand "Yeti-neese" to hear when someone is having a ROUGH day.
After the slam of the door, Bunnymund looked to the floor sadly. Hopefully he wouldn't lose his credibility for this little upstart...
5 hours later...
That night, Bunnymund seethed painfully as the Easter eggs were trying to clean the wound which the Easter bunny had sustained earlier but as soon as the wet cloths and bandages came into contact with his bare skin, it burned like fire to the skin.
It was a horrible injury but it would heal overtime and he didn't need to fret over it for too long, hopefully. After moments the bandages were finally wrapped in the bandages which looked a lot like his normal sash but it was underneath it.
Bunnymund got up from his chair and began to pace back and forth in front of the crib where Bluey had been stuck in since he nearly got himself killed. This was what happened always whenever Bluey was in trouble and was needing a time alone.
"Bluey 'Ronald' E Aster!" Growled the Easter Bunny to the baby bunny who seemed aware that he was in so much trouble judging by the apologetic stare and glassy eyes.
"Not only did youse disobey me but you also almost got yourself killed."
Bluey just looked down to the floor sadly and his ears lowered in shame. He may have been young but he knew when his father was mad, it was scary.
"...But because you've actually climbed by yourself, I'll let ya off with a warning but youse mustn't do that again." He warned somewhat sternly but a smile had bloomed on his muzzle and a proud glint had made itself known inside his sharpened emerald pools.
The baby bunny just cooed in agreement while staring his father in the eyes. Bunnymund, now having a heart filled with pride, bent down before picking his son up from the crib and hugged him. Bluey looked up at Bunnymund and Bunnymund looked down at Bluey, the two sharing a nice moment between father and son.
There was an awkward silence between them and Bluey looked like he wanted to say something.
"What is it, son?" Bunnymund asked with a concerned look on why his son was so quiet all of a sudden. Bluey smiled up at his father widely to show his front buck teeth growing through and he took a deep breath before something came out. His tiny cotton tail brushed the air as he wagged it cheerfully, a single word coming from his little lips.
"Daddy..."
Bunnymund's gaze looked down at his son in amazement once more, beaming in shock of what he had just heard. DID BLUEY JUST TALK!?
Bunnymund's expression turned from shock to complete and assured glee within the blink of an eye and he exclaimed "WHOOOOHOO!" To express this pouring joy in his eyes while bouncing around everywhere in the den with his son clinging on to his back and after the huge burst of excitement, Bunnymund gave his son a noogie before placing him back in his crib to rest and Bluey and Bunnymund felt into a deep sleep.
A/N: Just a heads up. In chapter 3, you'll see Bluey when he's a little older!
