Silence

He could only stare at the corpses that littered the ground around him.

The smell of blood was in the air along with the sickening scent of burning flesh. Even so, none of that fazed him. He paid no heed to it.

It was done.

It was over.

The nightmare that drowned Vongola in the darkness is now gone.

He stood amidst the chaos, covered in the blood of his victims from head to toe. He raised his blood soaked gloves, staring at them for a full minute, eventually nodding and clenching his hands in acceptance of the answer to the unspoken question in his mind along with the questions his guardian's eyes asked him in sadness and understanding before he embarked on this massacre.

Was it worth it?

There were some who opposed it but there were also some who agreed.

These people had been tormenting the Vongola for five years now.

Five years of exhaustion.

Five years of needless bloodshed.

Five years of living in total darkness without seeing he light even once.

And now that this is done, Vongola can rest.

Tears ran down his face as his heart tightened in pain in realization of what he had truly done.

This needed to be done. He thought to himself. For the sake of Vongola, it needed to be done.

He repeated those thoughts in his head like a mantra, but even so, it didn't stop the pain.

His guardians accepted his decision. They accepted his unspoken resolution.

Their eyes told him everything.

They held no grudge.

They didn't blame him.

They knew that one day, their day would come, and they were happy that their beloved boss and friend was the one to do it.

Tsuna chocked out a sob as he brought his hands to his chest and fell to his knees, no longer suppressing the emotions that racked in his body.

"I'm sorry." He whispered, the pain and clenching in his heart becoming tighter and tighter with every tear that escaped his eyes. "I'm sorry…please forgive me…"

Through the blur of his tears, he looked at the familiar eyes and faces that stared lifelessly back at him.

They were the eyes and faces that wore the expression of happiness alongside him.

They were the eyes and faces he had known for ten years.

They were the eyes and faces of his fellow brothers.

They were the eyes and faces of his beloved Guardians.

End

A/N: I wrote this quite a while ago...probably around the same time as when I wrote His Arch Nemesis. Don't know why I withheld from from uploading it on here though. Most of my works are just ideas that pop up at the top of my head. What inspired this one was when the image of TYL!Tsuna is standing in the rain in the middle of dead bodies covered in blood. Lovely, isn't it?

I hope you all enjoyed it though!
