Thank you very much for the reviews! I appreciate them a lot :)
Meant to say before that I'm English, so apologies for any spelling mistakes etc.
Enjoy!

The wailing ambulance came screeching to a stop outside the hospital, sirens still ablaze. Trauma attending Doctor Owen Hunt was, as usual, first to the scene.
"What've we got?" He demanded as the ambulance doors burst open and a body strapped to a table was pushed out by a young paramedic.
"35 year old pregnant female involved in a heavy car collision, not wearing a seatbelt - she went through the front window. Obvious head and spinal injuries with an open skull fracture and abdominal damage is apparent, severity unknown. Baby's condition also unknown." She rattled off fluidly, following Hunt into the hospital as he wheeled the patient through, before catching sight of Peds resident Alex Karev approaching.
"Karev! We've got a pregnant woman over here, page Dr Montgomery and get it taken care of, this ones yours." He pushed her over to Alex before repeating the necessary details.
Alex simply nodded and took the terrified mothers hand, who's eyes were currently wide as golf balls as she focused on him in blind panic.
"Please!" She whimpered. "My baby, save my baby!"
He clutched her hand tighter and leant in.
"Listen, you're gunna be okay. You and your baby. Try to stay calm, alright?"
her mouth quivered violently but she blinked up at him, which he took as a sign of acceptance.
"Alright lets go." He sped off with her, yelling at an intern over his shoulder to page Addison.
Addison felt that oh-so-familiar rush as she burst into the OR. Snapping on her latex gloves, she moved swiftly as the surge of adrenaline was quickly replaced by a sudden calmness she knew so very well. She was focused, she was ready, and she was world class. This was her OR now. Inhaling deeply through the mask, she approached the table.
Karev was working at the speed of light, and looked up briefly at her arrival.
"Mother went into premature labour, but her body isn't strong enough to sustain it, heart rates dropping fast, BP is critical, foetal heartbeat is even lower..."
She nodded. "Alright, I'm gunna do a C-Section, get ready for delivery."
"Wait, I think I can get her heart rate back up, just.." He stalled for time. "Don't you wanna page that peds chic?"
"-Scalpel please. Huh?"
"The new girl?"
"Oh.. Right yeah, Someone page Doctor Robbins."
They were interrupted by a sudden frantic beeping from the monitor. Addison looked up.
"Crap, V-fib! Karev this baby has got to come out now." She began to make the cut.
The door burst open for a second time, and in a flash Arizona was there, blue eyes alert, hands out ready to take the baby from Addison's arms. Both women felt their stomachs turn to rocks as the baby came out. It wasn't crying, and it was motionless.
They didn't have long to process this, as a split second later the relentless bleeping was over cut and replaced by a single, monotonous one, and they watched as the once jagged lines on the monitor flattened out over the screen.
"Dammit!" cried a frustrated Alex. "Starting CPR, charge to 100!" He barked at the nurse, already clutching the defibrillator.
Addison turned to Arizona, and their eyes met. She placed the baby into the blondes still waiting arms.
"Try."
Arizona understood, she nodded, and something shifted in the air as they held each others gaze, but it was short lived, as both had a job to do, and they had to do it now.
Addison rushed back to a desperate Karev, and Arizona began work on the baby, as the monitor droned on, and that never ending line continued to cross the screen.
"Hey." Callie perched at the canteen table, breaking Addison's train of thought. She'd been sat with a finger in her mouth, chewing and looking at the table opposite, were Teddy and Arizona were deep in conversation. Or at least, Teddy was. But every so often Arizona would break eye contact with her and glance over, catching Addison staring – at which point she would quickly look away, chewing her finger to appear lost in thought, a slight blush creeping on her cheeks. When she looked back Arizona would have returned to giving Teddy her full attention, at least until she would look up once more and inevitably catch Addison again.
Forcing herself to turn away, Addison faced Callie. "Hey." She smiled.
"How'd the car crash surgery go?"
Addison sighed, and looked up with heavy eyes. "Lost them both."
Callie grimaced and nodded with understanding. Their jobs could be utter emotional hell at times.
"Oh I'm sorry Addie, that sucks. It really does." She patted her hand.
"Mmm.." Addison went back to chewing, feeling the compelling urge to go over and sit with Arizona, though she had no idea why – she had only known the girl for 5 minutes, yet she found her incredibly... Interesting? Was that the right word? Addison didn't know, all she knew was she was happy to keep staring at the blonde, and thus she continued to chew.
"Didn't anybody tell you it was rude to stare Doctor Montgomery?" A voice drawled as Erica Hahn appeared – seemingly out of nowhere, and took a seat next to Callie. "The poor girl is only trying to eat her lunch."
"What?" Addison pulled her hand – a bit too quickly - out her mouth and looked at Hahn, her gaze slightly defensive.
Callie narrowed her eyes, and followed her previous line of vision.
"What, Robbins? You don't like her?"
Addison felt herself blushing again.
Seriously, what is wrong with you Addie?
"No no! She's perfectly nice.. I - we -She seems totally great! No problem there! It's nothing major, in fact it's not even worth talking about, relatively speaking I-"
"Okay, you're babbling." Callie interrupted. "As a frequent nervous babbler myself I know you are, and it's a sure sign that there's definitely something up here. So spill." She looked at her intently.
"Don't be ridiculous! She's fi-"
"Ah-but-but! SPILL." Callie's eyes widened in a threatening way, and she leaned forward, scrutinizing Addison's face.
"Come on Montgomery. Spit it out."
"Don't make that face, you're creeping me out!" She laughed. "Okay seriously, stop! Honestly Callie, it's weird, stop. Dammit! Okay fine, I just, it's nothing I.. she'd just.. I think.. I think she'd make a good friend is all! I want to be her friend."
congratulations Addison, you've just returned to kindergarten.
She cleared her throat and flushed a deep crimson at her incredibly embarrassing, child like response.
Erica practically spat out her drink, and Callie sat back slowly, amusement dancing across her face.
"Shut up." Addison warned, poking her. "I didn't mean that to come out like a lonely 5 year old."
"What? Am I laughing?" She replied, the corners of her mouth twitching. Addison rolled her eyes at her, before raising her glass to her face to hide her embarrassment. There was a slight pause, then -
"So, ask her out already!"
Addison choked on the beverage, spluttering everywhere. Callie quickly patted her on the back, wearing an expression of utter bemusement.
"I meant to Joe's Addison? You know, for like, drinks or something? I'm not saying take her on a friggin' candlelit date. Jeez." She shook her head at Hahn in amused disbelief. Hahn chuckled.
"Yeah Montgomery, there's only room for two lesbians at this table." She joked, before giving Callie a peck on the cheek.
Addison finally composed herself after a gulp of air. "No! We just lost both our patients, hardly the time to be all 'hey do you wanna go for drinks it'll be real fun!' is it?"
"Fine, so I'll ask her." Callie replied, stading up.
"Wait no! Callie! What are you doing!" She hissed after her, but Callie simply smirked over her shoulder and sauntered over to Arizona.
"Hey Teddy, wanna come to Joe's tonight with us? Dr Robbins?"
Teddy's eyes lit up. "Girls night?" she beamed.
"No! - I mean er.. sure yeah whatever, well me and Addison-" She playfully called her name louder than necessary, grinning back at the redhead. "-Thought it'd be nice to get to know Dr Robbins tonight, just have a few drinks, if you want?" She directed the question at Arizona, who smiled widely, and nodded vigourously.
"Awesome! I'll be there, god knows I need a break from saving the tiny humans after all. Tell Addison I said yay! It was her idea?"
Teddy looked at her.
"Yep, her idea, she's a real sweethart." Callie joked. "Especially when she's drunk."
Arizona flashed her dimply smile over at Addison, who had been watching the conversation like a hawk. Realising she had been caught yet again, she blushed – which she seemed to be doing a lot recently - and looked down. But this time a shy smile formed on her lips. Arizona's own smile widened at the sight of it.
How cute.
Teddy rolled her eyes and smirked at her beloved friend, who was still swooning over the redhead. She could only hope Arizona didn't say or do anything stupid under the influence. But, like the good friend she was, she would make sure she was there to oversee things. She didn't want her friend to read the wrong signals and therefore make her professional life incredibly uncomfortable. And Arizona had an unfortunate habit of being blatantly honest when she was drunk. Yep, Teddy would definitely be there.
"Awesome! So we'll see you later then?"
Arizona finally broke her gaze from a very crimson Addison, to look back up at Callie, something gleaming in her eyes.
"Definitely."
Once again hope you liked! It's going to get a tad more personal between the pair next chapter – I have plans ;)
ta!
