~ This chapter is a little shorter than normal chapters, but I wanted to update because of how long it's been and because I wanted to get this up in two parts.

~ It took me a lot longer than I would have liked to get this chapter up because I didn't know what to put in this chapter. I was hoping on your reviews to help me out on that, but they didn't really help. This is part one of two of the finale for this story. I'm ending it for multiple reasons, which are explained at the end of the chapter.
~ Just because this story is ending, that doesn't mean it's the end of the situation that the Mystic Falls Gang has with Elena and Klaus. There will be a possibility of a sequel... but when/if I post it depends on the number of helpful reviews this story gets on these last two chapters.

~ At the moment I want to focus more on my stories that are getting more reviews and I want to post my first non-TVD story within the next few months.

~ There will be multiple flashbacks in this chapter because of what I didn't do in the last chapter. Also, Elena might regain important memories about Klaus. There will also be more flashbacks in the next chapter.

~ This fanfic is over a year old (: Please review in celebration :)

General POV

~Flashback~
~Jeremy~

Jeremy was standing on the porch of the Gilbert house. He looked around to make sure no one was looking before looking back at the porch to see the ghost of his dead girlfriend Anna.
"Hey." She said in almost a whisper even though no one else could hear her.
"Hey." Jeremy said to her with a small smile. "What did you mean when you mentioned Elena could become powerful?"
"It's complicated." Anna said to him. "I don't even know all the details, nobody on the other side does. At least no one that's talking to me. All I know is it goes all the way back to when The Originals were human."

There was someone in the distance watching Jeremy. They couldn't see Anna but they were curious when Elena's name was mentioned. The person that could hear Jeremy talk could also hear him mention Anna's name. 'But she's dead' the person thought as she they continued to watch Jeremy.

~End Of Flashback~

~Elena and Klaus~

Elena was sitting on a picnic table that was in front of Mystic Falls high school. She couldn't help but feel that there was something familiar about it, but she couldn't remember anything. Since she remembered Klaus killing Jules, she kept trying to make herself remember more. When she tried to force herself, she could feel pain in her head and even though she wanted to remember, she didn't want the pain. A part of her knew that she would remember everything, but she didn't know how long it would take. Elena wanted to remember everything so she knew who she was before she turned into a vampire.

Off in the distance, behind Elena, was Klaus. He was just standing, watching her as she looked at the high school. Klaus didn't know if or when Elena would remember what he did to her and the longer it took, the more he wandered about it. He knew that she would be mad at him for killing her aunt and for lying, but there was a part of him that didn't worry about that. There was something between him and Elena that he never felt with anyone, not even Tatia. He wasn't sure if she felt it, but he just hoped she did.

~Katherine and Damon~

Damon was driving his car with Katherine in the passenger seat. His eyes were on the road while his mind was on Elena. He wanted to get her back and away from Klaus. According to what Katherine told him the night before, she had a plan.

~Flashback~

Damon was at his house, alone. He poured a glass of bourbon before looking around the living room. He couldn't help but think about how much of an idiot he was for turning Elena. Katherine didn't tell anyone about what would happen to Elena, but he still blamed himself. If he wasn't so selfish, then she would still be in Mystic Falls. Elena would still be with Stefan, but she wouldn't be with Klaus. Damon took a sip from his glass before looking at his wrist. He was wearing the watch that Elena gave him for his birthday. He didn't really need it, but it made him think of Elena so he couldn't help but wear it. It helped him pretend that Elena was okay, even though he had no clue. Suddenly, the doorbell rang and brought him out of his thoughts. Damon walked up to the door with his glass in his hands.
"Katherine." Damon said in an almost groan when he saw her standing outside his house. "Wonderful. What do you want?" He asked before taking a sip from his glass.
"I'm just a girl looking for a partner in crime." Katherine said with her usual attitude even though she knew what was going on. "Feel like hitting the road? Getting the hell out of dodge?"
"Unless it has something to do with Elena, I'm not interested." He said, ready to close the door at any second. Katherine gave him a small smile before pulling out Elena's necklace from her pocket. "I heard that Klaus is looking for this." She held it in her hand and looked at it before looking up at Damon, who was surprised that Katherine had the necklace.
"Why do you have Elena's necklace?" He reached out for it, but Katherine quickly moved her hand back.
"I'm trying to keep it away from Klaus." There was a pause between them as Damon tried to think of how Katherine could have gotten the necklace. "What if I told you, I have a reliable source that can help get Elena away from Klaus?"
"I'd say I don't believe you." There was another pause between them. "What is this source?"
"It's not a what. It's a who." Katherine said with a small smile, not telling Damon who her source was. "Is that a yes? I'll drive." She said when Damon didn't answer.
"Why not." Damon said after taking a sip from his glass. "Walls are starting to close in on me around here. Where are we going?"
"Away from here. That's all I'm going to give you for right now. But believe me... It's good." Damon finished his drink and quickly grabbed his keys before leaving with Katherine.

~End Of Flashback~

Katherine had been looking out the window for a while before she turned towards Damon. She could tell just by his expression that he was thinking about Elena. Katherine knew the feeling but she was thinking about Stefan.
"Are you hungry?" Katherine asked Damon because she felt a little hungry. "Let's stop for a bite. A truck stop. Or a trucker." She said with a small smile.
"Oh, stop being cute." Damon said, not taking his eyes off the road.
"It's not possible." Katherine said as she leaned in towards Damon.
"We've been driving around aimlessly for hours. Where are we going?" He asked, wanting to know where they were going since he was driving.
"Far enough away so that you can't go running back." Katherine practically whispered in his ear.
"No need to worry. There's nothing for me there." Damon said, not knowing that Elena was back in Mystic Falls. If he knew, that's where he would be. Out the corner of his eye, he could tell that Katherine was getting closer and closer to him. "What are you doing?" He asked as he looked at her. Instead of answering, Katherine started to kiss him. Damon gave in for a second just to see if he felt the same way he did back in 1864. It didn't take him to realize Katherine couldn't make him feel the way she used to. Damon pushed her of, which made her hit her head on the passenger window.
"What are you doing?" Katherine asked, slightly confused.
"I thought I'd give it a shot. Truth is, you just don't do it for me anymore." Damon said after returning his eyes to the road.
Katherine didn't say anything, but she was glad that Damon was over her. The only person she really wanted was Stefan, even though he still loved Elena.

~Stefan and Rebecca~

Stefan was laying on the bottom of the truck. He was still unconscious from Klaus snapping his neck. Rebecca was standing nearby, watching over Stefan. Before Klaus went to check on Elena, he told Rebecca that Elena was the one Stefan liked. It made Rebecca like Elena a little less, but she still saw Elena as a friend. Rebecca could obviously tell that Elena didn't remember much, otherwise she would be with Stefan. It was okay with Rebecca that Elena didn't remember much, because it kept her away from Stefan, but it also allowed her to get closer to Klaus. Rebecca wanted her brother to be happy, despite having stuck a dagger in her and keeping her that way for 90 years.

There was a noise behind her, which made her turn around. She saw Stefan moving, which made her know he was finally awake.
"Oh, he lives." Rebecca said with harshness in her voice.
"What happened?" Stefan asked after he stood up and looked at Rebecca.
"You took a beating. My brother's been breaking your neck all afternoon. Quite the temper." Rebecca said to Stefan, who didn't move from his spot.
"Why did he bring us back to Mystic Falls?" Stefan asked with confusion in his voice. He knew that Klaus was looking for the necklace, but Katherine had it. Stefan didn't say anything about knowing what happened to Elena, or that the others were trying to get her away from Klaus.
"You can stop playing dumb now. It didn't take him long to figure out what you've been hiding." Rebecca said, slightly bluffing. Klaus was a little confused on what Stefan was hiding. He knew that Elena was alive and a vampire. The only things he didn't know was what was happening to Elena and where the necklace was. Those were both things Stefan knew.
"I'm not hiding anything. I've done everything Klaus has asked me to." Stefan said as he took a small step closer to Rebecca.
"No, you just failed to mention what's happening to the doppelganger." She said, hoping that was something Stefan knew. There was a slight change in Stefan's expression, which made Rebecca know that it was something Stefan was hiding.
"Where is Klaus now?" Stefan asked, hoping that he could get Rebecca side tracked.
"Somewhere with Elena." Rebecca said, not mentioning that she knew they went into the school.
"Where is she?" Stefan asked as he stepped closer to Rebecca.
"You really do love her, don't you?" Rebecca asked even though she already knew the answer. Although she liked Elena as a friend for the short time they've known each other, she was mad at Stefan for keeping it a secret. Rebecca sped towards him and stuck a crowbar through him. "Consider me jealous." She said before walking away, leaving Stefan on the ground with the crowbar in him.

~ Knowing me, I might end up making this into three parts... but that all depends on what I can squeeze into part 2.
~ There will be more Klena (Klaus+Elena) in the next chapter and if I keep it into 2 parts then also maybe some Delena. I'm also going to try to get Caroline, Tyler, Matt, Bonnie, Jeremy, and Anna in the next chapter. Damon, Rebecca, Katherine, Stefan, Elena and Klaus are kind of obvious about being in the next chapter. Also, more flashbacks in the next chapter (:

~ Please share your thoughts. I want to make sure Klaus knows how to make hybrids before the story ends because if I make the sequel, they will be important in it. I would love to hear your ideas on how that can happen since Elena is a vampire. In the next chapter (assuming I keep it into 2 parts) Elena will also regain some important memories...

~ There is more than one reason why I'm ending the story. The first reason is because of the lack of helpful reviews. Helpful reviews always help (no matter what story I'm focusing on) and they would have been extremely helpful when it came to this chapter. Another reason is because I want to lower the number of stories I'm doing and I wasn't going to end the stories that are actually getting reviews. I want to get my first non-TVD story up soon and I don't want to do that if I have more than (about) 8 stories going at the same time.

~ If you liked this story and want a sequel, please tell me in the reviews. If there are enough reviews, I'll try to start the sequel before the end of 2013.
