~ I ended up splitting this up into three parts instead of just two. Hopefully you won't mind even though there isn't much action in this chapter.
Jazzmie01: I have more ideas on what I could do, but since I'm ending it, I can't do all I want to in the final moment of this story. I'm going to try and make an epic ending even though there will be the possibility of a sequel. There probably wouldn't be much of a time jump because the sequel will still sort of go along season 3, if I do it.
ENJOY!
General POV
~Klaus and Elena~
Elena continued to sit on the picnic table while she looked at the school. The longer she looked, the more she could feel some memories returning. They were only hazy, but she knew they were her memories. It made her feel good that they were starting to return, but also worried. She didn't know what happened in her past and she didn't want to find out she did something horrible to someone that she cared about.
Klaus was still behind her, but started to take small steps towards her. He could tell that Elena was worried and he wanted to help but he didn't know what to say.
"Elena..." He quietly said, but she didn't move. Klaus stepped closer to her and realised she was crying. "Elena," He put his hand on her shoulder, which made her finally talk.
"Why can't I remember anything?" She asked through her tears, still not looking at Klaus. He wanted to tell her, but he didn't know why she couldn't remember. Elena noticed that Klaus wasn't saying anything, which made more tears flow out. "I want to remember, but it hurts. Everytime I try..." Elena didn't know what else to say.
"Maybe you're not meant to remember." Klaus suggested, trying to find the right words.
"Why would you say that?" She asked as she finally looked at Klaus. "Without my memories how can I really be myself?" Klaus just looked into Elena's eyes as he gently brushed some of her hair behind her ear.
"After we find out what Stefan has been hiding and how I can make successful hybrids, we'll find out what's happened to you." Elena looked at him with some hopefulness in her eyes. "I promise." She gave him a small smile because she felt like he was telling the truth.
"Thank you." She said before reaching up for his hand that was brushing her hair.
"Ready to go inside?" Klaus asked and Elena nodded. She slowly slid off the table before the two of them started towards the door.
~Damon and Katherine~
Damon was still driving with Katherine in the passenger seat. The main thing on Damon's mind was Elena and what he would say to her when they would see each other. He didn't know what she remembered and he hoped that he could be the one to tell her that he turned her. His fingers clutched the wheel a little tighter at the thought of what he did to her. If he had known that Elena would lose her memory, he would never had turned her. He was mad at himself because the way he saw it, the whole situation was his fault. Out the corner of his eye, he noticed that Katherine was still looking out the window at the trees that were passing them by. 'I'm done driving' Damon thought before pulling into a small parking lot that was near them.
Damon got out of the car, which made Katherine get out and look at him over the roof of the car.
"Why are we stopping?" Katherine asked with irritation in her voice.
"I thought we might want to stretch our legs. Take a break from the sexual tension." Damon said with indifference in his voice before looking at Katherine. "I'm tired of driving. It's your turn."
"Fine." Katherine walked around the car and just as she reached for the keys, Damon through them. Hey!"
"We're not going anywhere until you spill your guts." Damon said not wanting to wait any longer for his questions to be answered.
"Fine." Katherine said before pulling out Elena's necklace. "Do you recognize this, hmm?"
"You said last night that Klaus was for Elena's necklace. Why does Klaus want it?"
"Does it matter?" Katherine asked as she held the necklace in her hand. "He wants it, and I have it. It's leverage, Damon. Always stay one step ahead of your enemy."
"I'll keep that in mind." Damon said, already tired of Katherine's lack of answers.
"But more importantly, when I was going to ask about you wanting to come, I found out something else... Something better." Katherine gave him a small evil smirk.
"Oh, yeah? What's that?" Damon asked with slight interest.
"Are you willing to do whatever it takes to have Elena remember, get her away from Klaus and kill him? No turning back?"
"I'm not turning back."
"Good. Because this isn't going to win you any points when Elena remembers everything." Katherine walked around Damon's car to the trunk before she opened it. Inside was an unconscious Jeremy Glibert. everything." Katherine walked around and opened Damon's trunk. Inside was an unconscious Jeremy Gilbert.
"Jeremy?" Damon asked with slight irritation before looking at Katherine. "Really?"
"Really." She said before picking up Jeremy and placing him over her shoulder.
As Katherine walked behind Damon, he closed the trunk of his car. He hoped that Jeremy had some answers and that Katherine wasn't just fooling around. The way Damon saw it, if Jeremy didn't have any answers, he was going to hurt Katherine in some way for kidnapping him for no reason. Damon turned towards Katherine to see that she had laid Jeremy down on a table that was in the area.
"I'm listening." Damon said as he started to walk towards Katherine.
"What if I told you there was a way to kill Klaus?" Katherine asked as she sat on a table that wasn't far from where she out Jeremy. "And not Dagger dead. Dead dead."
"I'd say you were desperate and lying. Or drunk." Damon said as he walked closer to Katherine. "Or a desperate lying drunk."
"Do you remember my friend Pearl?"
"Vividly." Damon said as he momentarily flashed back to when she gouged his eyes out.
"Centuries ago, she told me about a vampire who knew how to kill Klaus." Katherine said to Damon. "Then she wouldn't tell me any more."
"Well, why not?"
"Because it was her leverage. She knew it was valuable information, and wouldn't share it with me."
"Well, this is all great... But she's dead." Damon said, almost beginning to lose his patience.
"Which is why I never brought it up. Because she only ever told one other person."
"Who?"
"Her daughter. Anna."
"Also dead."
"Which brings us right back around to..."
"To me." Jeremy said, which made both Katherine and Damon look at him. "Back around to me." Jeremy didn't exactly say anything being able to talk to Anna, but Katherine knew because she heard him talking to her the night before.
~Bonnie, Caroline, and Tyler~
At the high school, Bonnie, Caroline and Tyler were all in the same classroom setting up mousetraps on the floor. They were the only three because Matt was in the weight room and as far as they knew, Elena was off somewhere with Klaus and Stefan.
"Do we have to do this Caroline?" Bonnie asked after setting down what seemed like the billionth mouse trap.
"Yes." Caroline said as she stood up straight. "We have to do these little things. Our lives can't come to a complete halt just because Elena is off somewhere with the most dangerous vampire in the world."
"I'm not saying I'm stopping my life Care." Bonnie said. "I just mean that we should be more concerned about our best friend than senior prank night." Caroline's face softened a little. "She's out there with almost no memories of herself while we're here putting mouse traps on floors."
"Okay." Caroline said with softness in her voice. "Then we'll just spend another hour setting up pranks and then we'll go to your house to look through your grimoires to see if we can find anything." Bonnie gave her a small smile. "I am gonna go do something else with my boyfriend..." Caroline reached out for Tyler's hand "... so can you help out in the gym?" Bonnie just gave Caroline a nod before she left with Tyler. Bonnie just stood there and let out a deep breath. She was worried about Elena, not only because Elena was her best friend but because she had a bad feeling like the night Damon had killed Tanner in the school parking lot.
~Klaus and Elena~
Klaus walked through the school with Elena following him. He knew that the Bennett witch was in the building and knew of a way to get what he needed out of her. As Elena followed Klaus, she kept looking around the school. Some things were beginning to get clearer for her. In her mind she could picture a locker, which made her stop in her tracks. Elena let her feet move on her own before stopping in front of a locker. It only took a few seconds for Klaus to realize she wasn't following him anymore. He turned to see her touching a locker that was in front of her.
"This is my locker." She said in a whisper when she could tell his eyes were on her. Elena let her fingers go over the combination and start to move. Klaus watched with curiosity as Elena slowly unlocked her locker. Her eyes opened with slight surprise as she looked in it.
Inside Elena's locker still looked the same before she got turned. On the inside of the door was some pictures of her and her friends. Elena gently ran her fingers over the picture on the top, which was of her, Caroline and Bonnie on their first day of freshman year. The three of them were smiling, which made Elena smile as she looked at the picture. 'What are their names?' She asked herself as she tried to remember. Her eyes went to another picture, which was of her and Matt. It was a few days after they started to date. Another picture was of her and Stefan, which was next to a picture of her and Jeremy. Elena took the picture of her and Jeremy and held it in her hand. She ran her thumb over Jeremy's face with a small smile on her face. 'Jeremy' She thought, finally being able to see what he looked like since she started to remember him.
"That's my brother." Elena said in a whisper as she looked at the picture of Jeremy. "And me." She knew Klaus was standing behind her. "I think they're my friends." She looked up at the pictures that were on the locker door.
"They love you." Klaus said, not wanting to lie to Elena. "We'll find a way so you can remember." he gently brushed his hand down her shoulder. "I told you I promise." He leaned closer to her ear. "I keep my promises." Klaus whispered in her ear before giving her a light kiss on the cheek. "Let's get going." Elena gave a small nod and closed her locker, but kept the picture of her and Jeremy in her hand.
~ The possible sequel will continue the events of season 3 but with Smells Like Teen Spirit. There will be a small time-jump even though the episode takes place basically right after The Reckoning. Hopefully you won't mind if/when I ever get it up.
~ If you want me to do a sequel, please let me know by leaving your ideas in the reviews. That means couples that you want (anyone from Delena, Jereanna (Jeremy+Anna), Matbekah, and anyone else that has been shown in season 3). If I write the sequel, I will look at the reviews on things to put into it.
~ In the next chapter, I will try to make sure that all the characters (except Alaric) are in the next chapter. Elena will remember something important about Klaus, which will set up the possibility of the sequel.
~ In the next chapter, Klaus will finally find out how to make hybrids. How do you think that will happen (because I'm still thinking about how that can happen). Please leave your ideas and thoughts in the reviews.
~ I will update with the last chapter (part 3) on the 31st. I will also update The Other Hybrid, The Salvatore Sister and I will start my first non-TVD story. Hopefully you can check them out.
R&R 'till the next update
