The five Avengers sat at the glass table in the bridge of the helicarrier.
It had been a full two weeks since James Barnes had gone under the knife to release him from Hydra's control and now he was claiming that he was recovered enough to be able to meet the Avengers.
The five Avengers were a little nervous about meeting the sergeant. They were excited that they were going to meet the long time childhood friend of the famous super soldier but they were also a little nervous about it.
Just like they had been when they were going to meet Steve.
No one could live up to the legend of Steve Rogers and now they were going to go through the same thing with James Barnes.
Right at noon, the doors to the bridge opened and in walked the two war vets.
"Afternoon everyone." Steve greeted.
The present adults greeted their captain and then turned their attention to the man at his side.
"Everyone, this is James Barnes. Better known as Bucky." Steve introduced.
"Bucky, this is Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, Doctor Bruce Banner and Thor Odinson." Steve introduced.
"Let me say, it's amazing to meet you." Tony declared as he walked over and shook hands with Bucky. "My dad just would not shut up about you and the super soldier here. It's greet to meet you."
"Thanks. You really look like your old man." Bucky said.
"So I've been told." Tony said. "As you are a friend of our dear Capsicle, you're welcomed at Stark Tower. Can't imagine living here is very thrilling."
"There are a few moments." Bucky said. "And thanks."
Clint walked up and shook hands with Bucky.
"Steve here tells me that you and me could be quite the trouble makers sine we're so much alike. I'd would like to get to know you to see if he's right or not."
"He'd told me about you. I would like to see if it's true as well." Bucky agreed.
Thor walked over and embraced Bucky greatly.
"It is an honor to meet the childhood friend of the captain." he declared and released the man who took in a deep breath. "Know that you are a friend of mine as well."
"Thanks. I appreciate it."
"Sergeant," Bruce greeted. "It's an honor to meet you. If you join the team, you'll be seeing me a lot. I usually handle any wounds and injuries that any one recieves. If you need help with anything else, I'm always willing to help."
"Thank you doctor."
Natasha stepped foward and Bucky couldn't help but notice how attractive she is. Far more beautiful than the ladies from the time he and Steve knew.
"Sergeant Barnes, I'm glad to be able to meet you. You have quite a legacy throughout history. Being Steve's closest friend."
"Well, someone had to look after the little guy. Even after his growth spurt." Bucky said with a smirk.
"Right. I was just the one who saved you butt after you beat those guys in the poker game at the bar in Europe." Steve said with a smirk.
"Hey, they were sore losers." Bucky replied.
"Everyone." Fury greeted as he walked in. "We have some interesting updates on Sergeant Barnes' mind control device."
"You know where the signal is coming from?" Clint asked.
"We managed to locate it." Fury answsered. "It's coming from a familiar location to our two soldiers."
"Where?" Bucky asked.
"It's coming from the prison where Captain Rogers saved you, your team and all of the other captures soldiers." Fury answered.
Steve and Bucky both stood still at the mention of the Hydra prison. The very place where Steve began his legacy as Captain America and where Bucky had unknowingly been given a microchip and a similar version of the super soldier serum.
It only sounded right to them that the Hydra prison was where the signal and trouble would come from.
"Should we go try to find out who is behind this?" Clint asked.
"Not yet." Fury answered. "Let's give the sergeant a chance to recover and get use to the way things are."
"Sir, is possible, I would like to go with Steve and his team to the prison camp." Bucky said.
"Are you sure that you would be able to handle it?" Fury asked.
"I can, sir." Bucky assured.
"Well, if you're as determined as Rogers has told us you are, I believe you. But I think you should still take at least a few days to recover. The microchip hasn't been deactived. So the person behind this may think that you're still trying to complete your mission." Fury said.
Bucky looked down at the mention of the mission he had tried to carry out. He tried to kill his best friend.
He almost did it too.
He wasn't sure he could live knowing that he had killed his friend.
But now, after getting a little rest, he would finally be able to get revenge for what had been done to him and be with his friend in this new world.
