The ARC

AN: Sorry it's another filler, I want to keep updating, but don't have the time to write out a full episode. This is also a little something to define Lorelei's relationship with Becker and the others. Hopefully a full episode will be up soon.

Disclaimer: don't own, don't sue.

Chapter 4- He cared

Becker had seen Lorelei storm out of the room. He gave a confused glance at Connor, who just sighed and shook his head; Becker noticed a small tear roll down the young man's cheek as he looked at his feet. Silence followed, for about twenty minutes, no one spoke, that was until the anomaly closed suddenly, making both the men jump. Nick Cutter walked into the room soon after, closely followed by Abby and Jenny. Nick spoke first,

"Did Lorelei go home?" Becker furrowed his brow in confusion as Connor stood up,

"Not that we know of." He quickly looked at Becker as he quietly panicked, Jenny however seemed calm,

"Her cars not here. That's all."

The panic was now evident on Connors face as he spoke, "No. No, no no." he ran out of the door, closely followed by Becker. None of the others had known what had happened whilst they were searching for an incursion, but they could tell that something bad had gone on, judging by the worried look on the two men's faces as they left.

Becker had over taken Connor on the way to the car; he jumped into the driver's seat and started the engine as Connor jumped in beside him,

"What if she's done something stupid?" he groaned as he buried his face in his hands, Becker however managed to act calm,

"Calm down." Connor nodded, "I don't know her that well, where would she go?"

Connor thought for a minute before answering, his voice barely a whisper; "Stephen's grave."

Becker nodded and pressed his foot on the accelerator, heading towards the graveyard.

Lorelei sat crossed legged on the damp grass, in front of her was her best friend's grave; the moment he died was playing over and over in her head,

"You were so brave." She whispered, staring at the stone in front of her, she blinked, letting tears slide down her cheeks. Not fair. This was her only thought going over, and over in her mind. He was her rock, they looked after each other, or rather he looked after her constantly. He was always there when she needed him, even if she didn't ask; he would come and help her. When her father died, he was there. When she was accidently shot by Connor, he was there. He was just always there, and now he wasn't, and she hated it. She was sobbing quietly when a voice from behind her made her jump;

"Connor said you'd be here." It was Becker, she turned to him,

"I like it here. It's quiet." She stated. Becker slowly came to sit next to her,

"Connor's worried about you." She sighed loudly and went to stand up, only to be pulled back with the captain's hand firmly on her wrist,

"You need to talk to someone." He said softly, he let go of her as she sat back down and glared at him,

"I don't, I'm fine, I don't need you or anyone else feeling sorry for me!"

Becker nodded, "You see, know your being stubborn." Lorelei shook her head and looked away, so the Captain continued, "Talk to Connor. He hated the fact that he upset you earlier, he was worried sick when you left."

Lorelei snapped, "What are you even doing here! Why do you even care! You don't even know me so what the hell is your problem?"

Becker was speechless, he hadn't expected her to turn on him, he felt his eyes widen with shock, before regaining his calm exterior,

"I'm glad you're okay. I'll see you tomorrow." And with that he stood up and walked back to the large silver pickup truck. Her questions repeated in his head, why did he care? He couldn't answer, he didn't know, he just did, he cared.
