She radiated confidence while going into surgery. She had the utmost faith that things would turn out great and she'd be able to hear again. Her excitement was uncanny, almost rivaling that of Naruto which is impressive. I never thought the day would actually come when Rimi would receive her cochlear implants.
She wore a gorgeous smile on her face as she walked into the doctor's office. They were waiting for her, probably eager to do this for her. I heard that doctors feel so much joy when they're able to help the deaf hear again. Come to think of it I didn't know who was more excited, the doctor's, us, or Rimi. Maybe we all just shared the same reactions.
"Thank you for coming right on time, miss," one of the doctor's said signing and smiling at her. "We'll be right with you in a moment. You can relax in the lobby until we call you in and your friends can wait out here until we're done."
She nodded vigorously and took a seat next to me with Kenta on the other side of her and Naruto on my said. She hasn't really said anything this whole time, but she didn't have to. Her smiling at me was enough to know she was content.
"Are you ready, miss?" The doctor signed coming back. She nodded yes and followed him, but not before squeezing my hand in reassurance.
"Everything will be fine Sasuke," she said softly. "I'll be fine I promise."
"I know you will be. I'm not worried."
"Liar," she said giggling and kissing me on the cheek. "I'll be back before you know it."
I smiled a little as she walked away, appreciating the bravery she had of believing everything would turn out okay. She's changed so much over the time I've known her, ever since the night she finally spoke to me. I can't believe how much of an influence I've had on her and that she's had on me. Without Rimi, I never would've found a real purpose in my life. I wouldn't have opened up more to Naruto, or spent more time with my friends. I probably wouldn't have even gotten closer to Itachi like I did.
"Hey idiot."
"What is it jerk?"
I playfully punched him in the arm. "Thanks for dragging me to Rimi's drug store."
He grinned and scratched his head sheepishly. "Just trying to help a friend out."
"For the headache? Or was this part of some elaborate plan you actually had the brain to think of?"
"A little bit of both," he said laughing, and then stopped when he realized what I said. "Hey, I take offense to that! I even gave you advice and everything. You should be more thankful."
"I'm thankful. There, I said it. Now shut up and sit down."
"I can't wait until Rimi can hear again so she can hear how mean you are to me all the time."
I can't wait for Rimi to hear me say I love her.
