Demyx sat in his desk, mindlessly watching as other students came into the class since he had gotten there a bit early. He already had his notebook out and opened on his desk, his pencil in hand. He was pressing his thumb on the tip of the pencil – a nervous habit he had and never got rid of. Had he seen the newest video this morning? Of course he had. Did he still think it was Zexion's voice behind the songs? Yes. After all, he was starting to hear the other's voice more and more, making it memorable to him. So some of the English songs he can hear his friend's voice, but not so much with the Korean songs since he only ever heard Zexion speak English and once Japanese. He did say he was fluent in the third language.
There was also the fact that he fitted the given clues – well, most of them. Demyx still had the small piece of paper with the listed clues. In fact, he currently had it folded and in his pocket. Curious, he put his pencil down and took the paper from his pocket and unfolded it to look over.
1. I'm fluent in Japanese as well as Korean.
2. My favorite color is either blue or purple.
3. Yes I'm gay and I've had a boyfriend. I'm currently single.
4. No I'm not in love.
5. Find me in the cafeteria. I have a major sweet tooth.
6. Check my wrists for my scars.
7. My nails are usually painted black.
8. No I don't play any instruments, but I do plan to learn a couple.
9. Yes, I have some piercings.
10. My hair color is my natural color.
He knew the first three to be true, but the fourth he wasn't sure of when it was given out and he still wasn't sure now. He also didn't know if Zexion was fond of sweets or if he had scars on his wrists. He never did get close enough to see and he didn't want to ask, knowing it'd be rude. Plus the boy often wore bracelets, obscuring the blonde's view of his wrists. Maybe that's why he wears them, Demyx wondered before reading further down the list.
The first time he saw Zexion, his nails were indeed painted black. And now thinking back to it they have remained that way since then. He also didn't know how to play a single instrument when they met and had asked Demyx to teach him, meaning that the eighth clue is true about Zexion. Demyx also knew the other had piercings – he's played with them before, seen the ones on his collarbones peek out from his shirt's neckline.
The tenth clue was new, from the morning's new video. He had once asked Zexion if his hair color was natural, and he perfectly remembered when. Blushing at the memory, he folded the paper back up and slid it into his pocket.
Looking back up at the door, he watched Zexion – followed by a girl with black hair – walk into the room. The girl was talking to him as she followed him to his desk, only stopping to look around the room and find a seat of her own. The blonde watched as Zexion said something to her – he couldn't hear what – and she sat down at the desk beside his, putting her bag on top of it. If he had to guess, Demyx would say that Zexion had told her to sit anywhere, preferably the seat beside him, since the seats weren't assigned.
Demyx wondered who the girl was then thought back to the song posted just that morning. There had been a girl's voice singing as well and he was confused to as who that could have been. It could have been the girl currently with Zexion, but he couldn't be sure.
The teacher soon came into the class and called for the students' attention, taking Demyx's away from Zexion.
"You didn't bring a lunch, did you?" Zexion asked as Xion sat down with him at their lunch table.
The girl's eyes stopped their roaming around the cafeteria and looked to her cousin. Pausing a second to think, the happiness slipped from her eyes and her shoulders slumped. "Oh man, I forgot to bring a lunch," she said, hanging her head low.
Zexion rolled his eyes and pushed his tray in front of her. "Here, eat mine," he said and rested his chin in his hand. "I'll eat when I get home," he said, answering her unasked question that he knew she was about to ask. "Though it's not very good," he added as an afterthought, after she took a bite.
Xion paused again to think about the taste then shrugged her shoulder. "It's not that bad," she said before taking another bite. As she ate, Marluxia, Larxene, and Luxord came over to the table.
Marluxia looked at the two and upon seeing that his ex didn't have a lunch said, "Aren't you hungry Zexion?"
"No," the younger boy answered.
"Now, how do you think Demyx would feel knowing you aren't eating?" Marluxia questioned, picking up the apple from his tray. "Eat this," he said, tossing the apple across the table.
Zexion quickly moved to catch the apple before it hit his chest. "I don't think he'd care," he said, referring to what the other had said about the blonde.
Xion, having perked up at the name of her cousin's crush, sat up completely straight and looked around the cafeteria once more. "Oh yeah! Where is he by the way? I want to meet him," she said, turning back to Zexion.
"What is she talking about?" Marluxia asked raising an eyebrow.
"She wants to meet Demyx," Zexion answered with a sigh. He looked down at the table, hoping neither one of his friends noticed his blush. He turned the apple over in his hands, wishing for the topic to changed.
"Then why don't we introduce them?" he heard Larxene speak up, apparently now a part of the conversation.
"Yeah, I think I see him over there," Luxord added and Xion looked over her shoulder to where he gestured, her eyes wandering. "Come on," he said and Zexion heard the blonde's chair move across the floor. Before he could step away from the table, Zexion stood up and reached across it to grab the other's wrist.
"Don't you fucking dare," he said sternly, stopping both Larxene and Xion from moving. He pulled on Luxord's wrist, his nails digging into the male's skin from how tight he was holding onto him. "I'm tired of you two interfering."
Luxord harshly pulled his wrist back as Larxene stood up from her seat. "Fine," she said, venom obvious in her voice. "You can get with him yourself, because you're having such luck with it already."
"Better luck than you," Zexion – now standing up straight instead of reaching across the table for Luxord's wrist – muttered under his breath.
Larxene turned on her heels and locked her furious eyes with his cold ones. "What did you say?" she barked.
"Larxene, walk away," Marluxia told her but remained seated.
"No," the blonde female snapped at him and put her hands on her waist. "I want to know what the brat has to say."
"I have nothing to say," Zexion said and picked up his backpack. Putting it on his shoulder, he turned and walked away from the table. He heard footsteps follow him and knew it would be Xion, but was surprised as Marluxia came along with her.
The older male put a reassuring arm over Zexion's shoulders. "Don't worry," he said. "Joke's on her because I'm not even interested. Though bisexual, I'm more into guys than girls."
Zexion said nothing. Instead he shrugged the arm off his shoulder and pushed the cafeteria door open to leave. Xion stuck with him, silent until she felt it was okay to speak.
"When's the next time Demyx will come over?" Xion asked from her spot on the floor. It had been almost an hour since they got to Zexion's house from his school. As soon as they got there Xion ran to the kitchen, insisting that he needed to eat something before they did their homework. Once they both ate – Xion having made herself a small snack – they went to his bed room to do their work. Xion had finished her work first, having not much to do.
Now she just lied on her stomach on the floor, a pillow under her chest as she flipped through one of her cousin's old video game magazines. She always forgot why he hardly ever threw them out, then remembered when she looked at them. He kept them as reference to what he thought looked interesting and would look into later on. By some of the games were notes such as 'buy for Xion's b-day.'
"Hey, you never got me that game," she noted then checked the date on the magazine to make sure it wasn't a recent issue.
Zexion glanced down at her before finishing a math problem. "He comes over tomorrow," he answered her question.
"Hm," she paused to think before asking, "Do you still have that shirt I liked a lot?"
Not saying anything, he looked back at her with a questioning look. "Which one?"
"The 'born to raise hell' one," she said sitting up, forgetting all about the magazine and the game she never received. "Do you still have it?"
"Yes," he answered after shortly thinking about it. "Why?" He didn't get an answer. Instead he watched as Xion stood up and went to his closet instantly looking through the clothes. "I haven't worn it for almost two years, I doubt it'll fit," he called to her as he went back to his work.
"Found it!" his cousin exclaimed happily after a couple minutes. She held a grey colored shirt in her hand. "Your closet is too neat, it was almost too easy to find for not wearing it for two years," she said, having found the shirt neatly hung up towards the back of the closet. "I should have you organize my closet," she mused, looking back over her shoulder to look at the neatness of his.
"You'd have it a mess with only a few days," Zexion replied, not looking up. He did look up when the shirt was thrown at him.
"You're wearing that tomorrow," Xion said, her hands on her hips.
"You don't even know if it fits," he said and picked the shirt up to look at it.
"Well I guess we'll just have to find out," she said and sat down on her knees, picking up the discarded magazine. "Now about this video game," she started but was cut short as a pillow knocked the magazine out of her hands.
Reply to anon6: Great! I'm glad it wasn't a too late reply. And I'd love to listen to your songs once you start!
I'm finally getting back in the flow of writing this after so long. It's nice and I'll be starting the next chapter soon. Thanks everyone for sticking around to read this! Reviews are great and keep me motivated, but don't feel forced to give one.
