Fin's POV

I was right. I was in such deep crap when Glorfindel got back that I hid in my room until our early dinner, when they were holding a celebration meal for the newly formed fellowship before we set out that evening. The others had been busy getting supplies and cleaning swords and other preparations and, understanding the situation, had left me alone, with the exception of Seph who was constantly updating me on what Glorfindel was doing, just to make me worry that little bit more.

There came a point where I could no longer hide in my room and I had to come out, if only to attend the celebration, as a member of the fellowship I would be missed. Diana came through the adjoining door between our rooms and helped me prepare, she had already changed and done her hair but I was still hiding under my covers. Seph had insisted that we all wear more masculine clothing, namely a shirt and a pair of trousers, to the celebration to make a point. There was a swift knock on the door and I cowered away, but it was only Seph and Kelly, ready to escort us to the dining hall.

The hall itself was bright, golden sunlight cast dancing shadows against the walls as we made our way to the table on the slightly raised platform at the far end of the hall, where we always ate due to our status within Imladris, but it was now seating the fellowship, minus those who had yet to arrive. I smiled lightly at the sight of the vast array of people that were moving through the hall. Only those who had attended the council and trusted servants or people were there as we did not want our quest to become known of.

I watched amused as Seph pushed Kelly into the seat beside that of Aragorn, who was seated opposite Gandalf and next to ada Elrond who was seated at the head. Seph herself sat beside Gimli, who was at the opposite end of the table to stay away from Legolas, who was next to Gandalf. Frodo to the seat beside her, with Samwise at his side of course, and I squeezed in next to Merry and Pippin, opposite the Gondorian who was rubbing the slight bump on the back of his head where the frying pan had connected. Dan and Roh were waving to us from the table below, giving Seph a thumbs up and me a slice across the throat with one hand. Of course these gestures did nothing to lighten my mood, the twins were always so encouraging in these situations. Elrond stood and addressed the hall, though I paid little heed as my eyes were quickly scanning the hall for the person I both wanted and feared to see. I was broken from my reverie by a curious Pippin asking why I wasn't eating, I hadn't even noticed that Elrond had given the signal to start. I filled my plate with various different foods and chewed slowly on the end of a carrot, though I barely touched any of the food before me, preferring to simply prod at it with my fork.

The conversation quickly began among those at the table, all eager to get to know their companions before we started off later that evening, though Gandalf had assured me that we would leave a bit later so that all supplies could be collected, last minute preparations could be made and farewells could be said. Elves did not need much sleep, and could walk in a dream state, but I still intended on getting as much sleep as possible before we left, a human habit that had yet to die.

Seph and Gimli were speaking animatedly of things they had in common, namely a hatred for the blonde prince of Mirkwood, for whom Seph gained many more nicknames during their talk, and she shared her many escapades with the dwarf, mainly the ones involving Legolas, causing him to thump the table loudly as he laughed deeply, taking a swig of mead, specially imported for the dwarven guests, though I had noticed that Seph was sipping the drink lightly from the tankard in front of her. Having run out of stories, Gimli began to teach her insults in Dwarvish, though I was not quite so eager to learn so I turned my attention elsewhere. Diana, who had seated herself beside Boromir, was talking with the Steward son about politics, thoroughly boring so, once again, I averted my attention elsewhere. The hobbits spoke of food and the Shire and adventures, though Frodo spoke little and moved to sit by Bilbo elsewhere in the room partway through the meal. Legolas spoke naught, though a bright smile was on his face, simply listening to the talking of Aragorn and Gandalf, to whom Kelly was also listening, though she sat awkwardly and stared mostly at her food.

After most food had been eaten the revelries began, dances of all lands were performed, even a short Hobbiton jig by Merry and Pippin, with Seph and Kelly playing and singing it in the background. Sweet delicacies were passed around and I made the most of it, knowing that I would taste nothing like this in a long while. I watched as people partnered up for the dance, Diana danced with Boromir as they continued their 'very interesting' conversation and he updated her on the happenings in the south and what Gondor was like as she had heard little of it save what she had read in books. Seph had a rather amusing dance, taking the whole thing lightly and dancing with all the hobbits, Gimli, who taught her a proper dwarfish dance, and even Gandalf, though Dan took pity on her later and danced with her himself. Kelly was forcibly shoved onto Aragorn by Roh and I chuckled at just how 'subtle' they were about the matchmaking. I was about to walk over to the crowd when a hand stayed my movement. I instantly stilled as I breathed in the distinct scent of the elf behind me.

"May I have this dance?" I turned slowly to face him, eyes roaming his face. Whereas earlier, when he had heard of my imminent parting, he had looked upon me with pure rage and I had fled under his gaze, now the emerald orbs were filled with a deep sadness.

"Of course."

Our dance did not last long as he took me from the room as the last note of the song was played and led me to the balcony. We stood beneath the bright golden sun and stared across the vast and glorious lands of Rivendell, the last homely house. We stood silently, but when I heard his voice I was filled with guilt.
"Do not leave." His voice came as no more than a whisper, pleading with me to listen to him. "Stay, with me... Please." I gave no answer immediately as I did not trust my own voice and had no words of consolation that I could give to him.
"Glorfindel, you must understand..."
"No you must understand!" He cut me off with a yell, spinning and grabbing my arms in a vice like grip. "you cannot leave, I need you... You must stay... I do not know what I would do without you..." His voice quieted and trailed off as the crystal tears finally began to spill down his cheeks. I took his head and laid it on my shoulder, wrapping my arms around him in comfort.

"I am sorry for this melethnin, but I have a part to play in this and I can not do easily abandon my sisters." He sobbed I uncontrollably into my shoulder, soaking the shirt with his tears. "We will meet again... I know it." I tipped his head back, cheeks dirtied with tears, and planted a chaste kiss on his lips, stroking his cheek gently and wiping away the salty tears.
"Please understand." He seemed to be lost in thought for a moment though he seemingly came to a conclusion.
"If you will go then I will go with you."
"No!" I objected loudly, placing a thin finger on his pink lips, twirling a strand of his golden hair with the other hand. "That is not how it should be, you must remain until the time is right." He stared up at me wide eyed, like a lost child, and drew slowly back till he was standing again.

"I see now that I cannot change your mind, so I give you my blessing and this gift on our parting." He sounded forlorn and lost, but there was nothing I could do to ease both his pain and mine. My eyes watched as he reached down and unclasped a mithril bracelet that was wrapped around his wrist. He clipped it carefully around my own and I admired how the tiny emeralds glistened in the lights of the heavens. They reminded me of his eyes. A single tear escaped my own eye and i wiped it away with the back of my hand, sniffling slightly.
"This was forged in Gondolin," he murmured, "in the days of old. It is very precious to me, and you will return it when we next meet." I nodded, again not able to trust the power of my tongue.

There was a loud crash somewhere in the distance but the two of us paid it no heed. I leant my forehead against his and we stood in silence, our fea touching for the last time before we met again. As he leant forward more, about to kiss me, the sound of feet could be heard nearby. We turned and looked through the doorway as Seph came hurtling past.
"Hi Fin, bye Fin!" And then she was gone. Putting her strange appearance to the back of my mind, I turned back to Glorfindel and we kissed beneath the sky, not caring what the next day might bring. He sat himself on the stone bench, dragging me down to sit on his lap and shielding me in his warm embrace, though I could not feel the cold the endearment was not lost on me. I wished that I could have stayed there, like that, forever, though I knew that this moment would not last and that I would be leaving in the morning. I toyed with the idea of staying, but I knew that that was not an option that I could consider.

As I sat there, warm and protected by the man, well elf, that I loved, I found myself answering to the call of sleep and I began to drift off where I was, content to stay there. However, when he noticed, he lifted me gently in his arms, as if I were as fragile as a rosebud, and carried me to my chambers, setting me down on the large bed and pulling the silken covers over me. As he turned to leave, I grabbed his sleeve and tugged with the little energy I had left.
"Stay," I mumbled, scrunching up my nose as I yawned, burying myself deeper under the covers. He gave a small smile and kicked off his boots before sliding in next to me. I snuggled against his chest and I was enfolded again in his arms. I knew when dusk came he would have to let me go, but for now, I couldn't have cared less.

3rd Person
(A little while before, in the hall)

Though the two had attempted to stay away from each other, merely trying to stop any arguments during this time of revelry, Seph and Legolas had finally come close enough to set each other off. It was quite a funny scene to watch and Gimli sat, cheering from the sidelines.
"Why do you hate me?" Seph looked up from placing a piece of cake on her plate to look at Legolas, raising a brow at the question.
"I don't hate you princeypants, you just happen to really piss me off." Many who had heard her began to laugh and Legolas' gaze darkened and he leant forward in were stopped by Elrond calling those in the hall back to their seats to raise a toast. Diana had no doubt that he had noticed the rising tension and had deliberately intervened at that point in time. The children of Elrond noticed the absence of Finna, though none made any mention of it, knowing who she would be with.

When the toast had ended, it was Legolas that made the first move, throwing a small tart at her and missing her by a mere inch, hitting the red headed dwarf on the back of the head, though he cared not as he was already asleep in his chair.
"Hehe, and I though that you were going to be the mature one in all of this," the Greek taunted, sticking her tongue out at the prince. Before he could retort she 'accidentally' pushed him onto the table, on which he landed with a crash, face landing straight in a bowl of, what appeared to be, custard. Seph turned and scurried towards the doors that lead to the corridor.
"I'm heading to bed now, navarie ada!" she yelled before fleeing the room, passing the starstruck couple as she went, ruining the romantic moment slightly. This interlude was not forgotten quickly by the Mirkwood prince who spent an hour of that eve simply removing the gooey substance from his hair. She was intriguing, and he vowed to find out more about her, wanting to know if there truly was a reason that she insured on tormenting him, or if she really was just that sadistic.

Seph was also sitting in her room and contemplating the earlier battle, though her thoughts were following a rather different line. She was wondering why he had missed her when he threw the pie, that and the rather curious question that he had asked her. She knew that, in reality, he would not have missed her. She made no move to get out of the way so it was simply a lousy shot, but the prince of Mirkwood did not have a 'lousy shot', he was 'a damn good shot' in her opinion, though she would never admit it. So, why had he missed? These deep and meaningful questions were tiring so she retired for the afternoon, simply deciding that he was good at archery and bad at throwing and that the first question was brought on by his over inflated ego and pompous attitude, wondering why someone couldn't possibly love him on sight. Legolas had actually thought about why he missed, earlier in the evening, shortly after being pushed into the custard. His conclusion was that he was having a bad day, and left it at that. Diana had a different opinion entirely, thinking that the prince did not want to hurt her, even if being hit by a tart doesn't hurt that much. You choose for yourself who was right, though Gimli's thoughts during the time of the fight were 'happy gold fairies and pretty jewels!' as that is what he was dreaming about; whether or not gold fairies exist is an entirely different matter.
