Odd Proposals
"Will you run away with me, Evans?"
He asks her today, and tomorrow,
and everysingledayoftheweek
Because the war is only heartbeats away
so he's already begun counting down the seconds…
"Can't we wait just a little bit, James?"
She whispers earnestly into his ears
Trying not to let her heart shatter
at the crestfallen expression that
flits across his face, but she kisses it away…
"I now pronounce you man and wife,"
The priest declares to a small but
loving crowd, and their senses abandon them
As their heartbeats race against each other
Lips lock together in happy union, and two
yearning souls have finally found solace
in each other.
