Thank you for the reviews and story alerts.
I'm glad that so many people like this fan fiction!
Here's the next chapter sorry it's a little late I had a hectic weekend and on top of the plans I already had, I had some family invite themselves over on Sunday, so I didn't have a chance to write until today.
I don't the Vampire Diaries or anything related to them. The scene that is taken from the show was not written by me.
"Really, what a small world, I know Katherine," Klaus said, he wasn't sure how he should react to this. Klaus supposed that it wasn't Stefan's fault that Katerina escaped him…
"How do you know Katherine?" Stefan asked. Katherine never mentioned that she knew the original vampire family.
"I met her a few centuries ago," Klaus finished the blood in his glass. "My brother and I also fought over her."
"A curse for brothers," Stefan said. He didn't want o over step his boundaries by saying anything that would upset Nik.
"You have no idea, Salvatore," Klaus said.
"My brother won't like hearing that," Stefan said with a chuckle. Klaus wondered if the doppelganger was still alive. Why would his brother care if a man loved her in the past if she is dead? Klaus thought.
"Most likely not, but if she is truly dead then he should have no problem?" Klaus said to Stefan.
"She is dead; I saw the church burn myself. I tried to save her, but she was weakened after vervain was put into her system," Stefan said before Klaus could ask why he did nothing as he watched the girl he loved die.
"Such a tragic event," Klaus said.
Stefan was confused by what Nik said. Stefan wondered if the original still had feelings for the vampire. Stefan concluded that he was just upset that she was gone.
"Shall we get ready? Rebekah will probably want to meet us at Gloria's after her meeting with the humans," Klaus said. He stood up and went into his room to change.
Stefan and Klaus made it to Gloria's before Rebekah, so they went to the bar to have a drink.
"Stefan, I meant to ask you this earlier, but it slipped my mind, how old are you?" Klaus asked as their drinks arrived.
"I was born in 1846 so I am 76 years old," Stefan said.
"How old were you when you turned?" Klaus said.
"Eighteen," Stefan said. "How old were you?"
"My brother wasn't much older than you when he turned, and yet you are much more mature, and you are easier to be around," Klaus said ignoring Stefan's question.
"Is he one of the ones in a coffin?" Stefan asked.
"Yes," Klaus said. "I couldn't handle him, it was scandal after scandal. It was making the humans suspicious of our behavior."
"Would he not compel after he drank?" Stefan asked.
"He would, but not the whole community and he went after high society members," Klaus said. "Eventually he would kill them. People become suspicious when a royal is drained of blood while still in their bed.
"Did your parents not teach him how to be a vampire after you were turned?" Stefan asked.
"My mother is dead, and I do not consider the man who raised us to be our father. He is hunting us down." Klaus said.
"Why would he hunt down his own family?" Stefan asked.
"He believes that I am a monster so he had a curse put on me. He is mad at Rebekah for siding with me, but I am the only one that has truly loved her and cared for her." Klaus finished his drink and signaled for the bartender to bring him another.
Stefan didn't know what to say to that. He hadn't had the same experience as Nik with family.
"Rebekah does not even truly want to be with me, she is just terrified to be alone," Klaus said. He stared off into space.
"Finn, sided with Mikael," Klaus said. He was talking to himself ignoring Stefan's presence. "I bet the others wanted to side with him as well. They were just too afraid that I would kill them, but they want to kill me!"
Stefan decided that he should step in here, before Nik went crazy and attacked the entire building.
"There Jealous. Your family wants you dead because they can never be what you are," Stefan said trying to comfort the original.
"What? An abomination?" Klaus was upset that his mother put a curse on his true nature. She thought he was a monster worse than a vampire. Klaus believed that Mikael thought the same, and therefore so did the rest of his family.
"No, a King," Stefan said. He put his hand on Klaus's shoulder.
"Look at us. Two sad orphans," Klaus said.
Rebekah walked in then. She saw her brother and Stefan, but ignored them. She wanted to play hard to get for Stefan. She went over to a man against the rail. She began talking and flirting with him.
Stefan felt her presence as she entered the room. He turned and anger began to boil in him as he saw her go to another man.
Klaus caught Stefan looking at his sister.
"My sister fancies you, you know," he took a drink of the cognac in front of him. He wondered if he should really be pushing the young vampire towards his little sister. Klaus did like Stefan. Stefan was the one that just raised his spirits… Klaus thought it wouldn't be a bad thing if he approved of the man Rebekah took an interest in.
"But, I should warn you," Klaus said. "Beakh doesn't do anything half speed."
Stefan and Rebekah looked at each other.
Rebekah felt Stefan's eyes on her. She felt warm and she knew that only Stefan would make her feel that way.
Klaus saw the look between them and even he could see the intensity. "And she has a problem falling in love, so just be careful."
Klaus and Stefan both laughed.
Stefan knew that things were going very fast between him and Rebekah, but he couldn't do anything about that. His feelings were true.
"I appreciate the advice," Stefan said before he took a drink. Klaus was like the big brother he never had. Damon didn't help him with relationships. They were courting the same girl after all.
"And when she in avoidably leaves you, she can't help it. It's just who she is,' Klaus thought it was better to warn him of what would happen between the two. "Don't let your heart do anything stupid."
"You know what, you're a good friend, Nik," Stefan said. And he meant it. How many men would let their friend go after their little sister?
"Just don't be the one to break her heart," Klaus said.
Stefan downed the rest of his drink. He raised his eyebrows at Klaus. He stood and strolled across the room to where Rebekah was.
"Come, let's dance," He said to her offering his arm.
She gladly accepted leaving the man she talked to behind.
Stefan brought them out to the middle of the dance floor and began to turn her very quickly. Rebekah laughed. Stefan loved to hear her laugh.
