Hello Lovelies,
As you know, I said I would give you an update by this weekend. I'm still kind of confused, but mostly I think I'm going to drop this and make a new one with the same characters. I could make the Hunger Games still intact and send Luna, Finnick, Maple, Devin, and Willow go in. But I kind of did that in my last story.
I'm not sure what the plot or anything is going to be like. So if you have any suggestions, now is the time to tell me!
I would just like to say: I've gone on endless plot generator sites and I've seen very interesting ideas. I have one, but I think if you guys want to see something, then you should tell me or let me now.
On to another special chapter because- to be honest- I kind of like writing the little drabbles. This one is darker, but at the same time you'll see a lot of Finnick x Luna.
We were vacationing in District 7. Finnick and Annie were travelling with us and we were hanging out with Maple and her family. Allie and Devin were walking around and looking at the trees. I don't know what is so interesting about trees, but they insisted it made a good date site. I think 'looking at trees' is a code for kiss or something.
I was staying up in the guest room, Finnick was sharing a room with Devin and Willow, and I shared a room with Allie and Maple. That was expected. But I woke up at two o'clock in the morning and had a terrible nightmare.
We just started our quest and I was trying to track down C.S. I had a nightmare about what C.S. was going to do to me. And that she would jump through the window at any minute and kidnap us for discovering her. She would drag us all out to the Capitol to torture us.
I climbed into one of the bar-stools and started shaking. I put a tea kettle on the stove and got two cup out. As soon as the tea was ready, I would be trying to fall asleep on the couch.
I pulled my knees up to my chest and put my chin on my knees. Tears trickled out of my eyes and I sighed.
The tea started screaming. It was done, but it was really loud! I hurried to get the tea off the stove, but my hands were shaking.
"Luna, what are you doing?" Finnick asked, coming downstairs.
"Nothing Finnick, go back to bed. I'll be up in a minute." I said.
"You sure?" Finnick asked, hesitantly.
I nodded.
"You don't seem very sure." Finnick said.
"Finnick, I'm fine!" I said, my voice raising in volume. He raised an eyebrow and saw through my façade. I wasn't fine. I was exhausted and crabby. I just wanted to get some sleep, but my thoughts kept plaguing my dreams. I couldn't turn my mind off!
"Just a bad dream." I said shaking my head.
"About what?" Finnick asked.
"Why do you care?" I asked, being incredibly unfair.
"Because I need to sleep and your stupid tea kettle was being annoyingly loud." Finnick said.
"Then go back to bed. It won't be loud anymore." I said.
"Can I have tea?" Finnick asked as I rolled my sore and sleepy eyes. I nodded and poured him some chamomile tea. We sat on the couch and I looked at Finnick's hair. The moon was shining through the bronze and it was quite distracting. Distracting, but nice.
"Do you want to watch a movie or something?" Finnick asked as I shrugged and nodded. I put my feet up on the coffee table and Finnick put his next to mine. He draped a blanket over our legs and we watched The Phantom of the Opera. It was close to the end and I was crying. Finnick was asleep and I wiped my eyes on the blanket.
"Luna?" Finnick asked.
"Sorry I woke you." I said as he nodded. He blinked tiredly.
"Are you crying?" Finnick asked.
"It's just so sad!" I said, continuing to cry. Just like the overly hormonal teenage girl that I am. He held his arms out and I scooted closer to him. He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and I was shaking.
"Do you want to talk about your nightmare now?" Finnick asked.
I shook my head. I couldn't bring myself to do it. It was too horrid to talk about.
"Fine, just close your eyes then. Try to get some sleep." Finnick said.
"C.S." I said quietly.
Finnick nodded like he understood everything. He tightened his grip.
"Go to sleep." He said quietly.
"She's like the Phantom. She's everywhere, but nowhere." I said.
Finnick didn't say anything because I was right. There was a dull throb in my chest as the realization hit. I would never be safe again. Finnick and I appear to have the same realization. I curled into him and he tightened his grip.
"I'll protect you." He promised. He started saying something and I sighed.
I fell asleep while he was talking. I was curled into his chest, listening to the rhythmic beat of his heart. I knew he wouldn't let anything bad happen to me. Not with him sitting right there, at least.
The next time I opened my eyes, the sun peered through the window and Johanna was making breakfast. Finnick was already up and he was slowly trying to reach for the TV remote.
"Morning." I groaned, rubbing sleep out of my eyes.
"Sorry if I woke you." Finnick said.
"You're fine, just time to wake up." I said shrugging. He nodded and I sat at the barstool.
"Bad dream, Luna?" Johanna asked as I nodded and bit into a piece of toast. It seemed to be the only thing that rested my uneasy stomach. I sighed and looked out the window. Finnick poured both of us orange juice and we had toast and eggs.
"Good breakfast. I'm going to go shower." I said.
I went upstairs and showered. I stood there and contemplated the world. And then the power went out. I screamed and the hot water turned icy cold. My skin was actually turning red and tingly. I changed into clothes for the day and ran down the stairs. Except I almost tripped on the last step.
"Careful, Maple took a wipeout on that step too." Finnick said grabbing my arm to slow me down.
"What's going on?" I asked, nervously. What if C.S. is in here and she cut the fuses?!
"Nothing, I promise. Ash and I already checked the fuses. None of them have been cut." Finnick said as I sighed and nodded.
"Help me light some candles, will you?" He asked as I nodded again. Finnick kept burning himself with the matches and I was left to take over. I set one candle in every room and we were mostly lit up.
Finnick and I took turns telling Maple what happened last night. She looked about ready to cry.
And then the power came back on. Finnick sighed in relief, like he was growing uneasy.
"I'm fine. It's just a little unsettling." He said as I nodded. Maple and I went to pick up the mail from the town hall.
"Did you lose power?" Maple asked, making conversation with the mail clerk.
"No, no one in town lost power. Well, no one except for you." She said as Maple and I slowly walked back to the house. I decided to kiss my days of good night sleeping goodbye. Because I'm pretty sure after hearing that, I would never get another good night of dreams or just sleeping.
But we couldn't tell Finnick, he was already worried. This would just push him over the edge.
Well I'll give you a charades hint for the new title of the remake story.
***2 words. First word: three letters, starts with a vowel. Ends in -y and is an adjective. Second word: five letters, starts with a consonant. Starts with 'h', ends with -t.
Just thought I'd entertain myself a bit.
Well, I think that's everything for now!
I hope everyone has a good week! I'll update again tomorrow with more news.
