Hello again,
I'm very sorry I barely gave anyone time to guess my charades hint:
But it will be Icy Hearts.
It will probably be out next weekend, so remember to look around for it! As for deleting this story, I don't know if I'm going to do that. I think if you all really want to read it, who am I to stop you? But just know, I will be putting this on hiatus or something. But I will not drop it if you all want to read it!
We were vacationing in District 4, shortly after the quest started. Everyone was out. Finnick took a girl named Rovenna on a date, Jason and Maple went to the carnival, Devin and Allie went out, and even Willow got a date! I was all alone.
I took a nap on the couch while everyone was gone. But Annie and Finnick arguing woke me up.
"Finnick, she's lonely! Just introduce her to someone! One of your friends or something." Annie whispered.
"My friends aren't good for her." Finnick whispered.
I forced my eyelids open.
"Morning." I muttered, stretching out.
"Morning, Luna. What are your plans for the day?" Annie asked.
"Go for a run, hit the beach. Maybe go canoeing or white water rafting." I said.
"In the rapids?" Finnick asked as I nodded. Where else would I go rafting?
"That's insane! We've been dying to go, mom. Can we?" Finnick asked.
"Fine, just be safe." Annie said letting us go. Finnick and I walked to the rapids and met up with three other boys and a girl. Finnick introduced the boys as Jake, Nolan, and Tyler. Jake's girlfriend Natalie came with us.
"Well, you kids ready?" The guide asked.
We carried the boat out to where we would be getting in and he gave us some instructions.
"Be very careful kids. If you get thrown off, just swim and hold onto the boat." He said as we went off. Except he didn't get in! He was going to let kids go alone! Finnick and I shared a look and we got in.
"Ready?" Nolan asked as the sun struck his dark brown hair.
"Let's go!" I yelled as we went off. The rapids were insane! And then there was this huge wave! It tipped me and Natalie out of the boat and we barely held on. And then Finnick grabbed both of us and pulled us over one-handed.
We went in spirals and hit a rock. We all got thrown out of the raft and into the water. I fell on Finnick and he pulled both of us up.
"You okay?" I asked as he nodded. We were stuck in the biggest current ever. Finnick couldn't even swim through it. None of us could, but Natalie landed on a big rock. She was safe. Jake almost made it over to her.
Nolan and Tyler were struggling just as hard as we were.
"There's a rock behind us. Just go limp." I said looking around. Finnick looked behind us and we let the current take us. I banged up my head when we hit the boulder, but we made it! Finnick and I climbed up. By now, Nolan and Tyler grabbed onto a tree on the other side and we were all safe.
"You have a bump." Finnick said touching my head.
"Collided with the boulder, but we're good." I said shivering. I was cold! I fell in twice. But we still had to get on land. I looked around and saw a vine next to a boulder not too far away.
"Help me get to that one." I said pointing.
Finnick picked me up and practically threw me over. I gave him a sarcastic thumbs up and I grabbed the vine. I pulled it off the tree that was hanging over and climbed up the tree. I crawled above the rapid and climbed down on the other side. I threw it to Nolan who wrapped it around he and Tyler. I pulled both of them up from the tree.
They got to land and I climbed back over.
A few of guides were going down the rapids to rescue us. They seemed more sober than the first one we had.
"Jump in!" They yelled to Finnick and I. Finnick took a running jump and made it on the seat. I jumped next and made it across Finnick's lap and almost slid out.
Finnick stopped me, though. We had to whip around the rapids to get Natalie and Jake. A few more guides were helping Nolan and Tyler to the stop point.
"Hold on tight." A teenage guide said looking back as we went down a mini waterfall. Mini was a huge understatement! This thing was pretty big. Finnick wrapped an arm around me and forced us to hang on to the boat. We went down and I could barely feel the boat underneath us. We landed in shallows and I couldn't feel Finnick anymore.
"Finnick?" I asked sitting on the boat.
None of the guides made it in the boat and everyone was still underwater.
"Finnick?!" I asked panicking. I looked around for his hair and didn't see him. And then someone grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the boat. I bumped into whoever pulled me out. It was just Finnick.
"You scared me." I said quietly.
"Good to know you care." He said smiling.
I smiled and we looked into each other's eyes for minute.
"I'm fine." Finnick said, backing away.
"Good." I said, nodding my head slowly.
"Well, we're closed down because of the accident. Do you guys want to head to lunch?" A guide asked as I nodded. Finnick's stomach growled and his face went red. We walked to shore and pulled the boat behind us.
"That was horrifying!" Natalie said.
"It was kind of fun." I said shrugging.
"Are you crazy? We could've died!" She said wringing out her strawberry blond hair.
"But we didn't." I said smiling. Everyone looked at me as I walked ahead of them. We stopped at some joint on the peer called 'Sharkey's'. It was shut down, though.
"What do you make of that, Luna?" Natalie asked.
"We can find somewhere, else. Right?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, there are a lot of options." Finnick said shaking his head.
"Where are you from?" Tyler asked running a hand through his sandy blond hair.
"District 12." I answered.
"Whoa." He said grinning.
"Is that why you're so pale? Are all District 12 people pale? What is the biggest luxury there? Are people really as poor as they say?" Tyler asked.
"I don't know why I'm pale. And no, generally District 12 is olive skin. Biggest luxury is having a refrigerator full of food. And yes, they are pretty poor out there." I said answering all of the questions.
"The only place open is McCormick's." Finnick said.
"Ugh, fine." Natalie sighed, leading us in the restaurant. I just decided I didn't like her. Finnick and I shared a look and sat next to each other. I think Tyler has a little crush on me because he kept asking me questions and trying to strike up some conversation with me. I guess that's okay. I've never had a boyfriend, though.
As we were leaving, I put out the tip. Instantly, my stomach churned and we started walking outside.
"Meal of champions right there." Finnick said as we walked down the peer.
Finnick went to say hi to Rovenna at the District 4 carnival. I couldn't help the ache in my heart, but I disguised it.
"Luna, I was wondering if you want to hang out with me." Tyler asked.
"When?" I asked smiling slightly. Was he asking me out? Or were we just friends?
"Now. No- wait. Let's get changed and I'll pick you up at three o'clock and then we can head to the carnival." Tyler said as I nodded. I looked at my watch. It said two o'clock right now.
"Finnick, I'm going to head back." I said as he nodded. Tyler and I walked back and we gossiped. He showed me around the market for a bit and then I stepped inside. I couldn't help but smile.
"Who was that?" Johanna asked, not even looking up from the paper.
"One of Finnick's friends. His name is Tyler." I said smiling.
"You two seem very comfortable." Johanna said, finally looking up.
"He's easy to get along with. Do you know what I mean?" I asked.
"Not really. But when's the date?" Johanna asked.
"An hour. I have to get ready!" I said showering up and changing into jean shorts and a white lace-y tank top. Tyler knocked on the door and we left.
"Where are you two going?" Finnick asked, about to come in.
"Carnival." Tyler said.
"Why? We were just there." Finnick asked.
"We're going on a date." Tyler said as I stepped around Finnick. Tyler and I left and walked to the carnival. We had a fun night, but it felt wrong. He kissed me goodbye.
"Tyler, I thought we were friends." I said.
"I thought we could be more than friends?" Tyler asked.
"You're a great friend, but I don't feel that way." I said gently.
Tyler nodded and turned to walk away.
"Tyler." I said.
"If you didn't feel that way, why did you agree?" Tyler asked leaving. I came in, unable to fight off the tears.
"What's wrong?" Maple asked.
I shook my head and ran upstairs to go shower. I turned the water as hot as it would go and let it scald my skin.
Someone knocked at the door.
"Luna, it's Finnick." Finnick said sitting on the toilet seat.
"What?" I asked poking my head out from the shower curtain.
"What happened out there?" Finnick asked.
"I don't think Tyler likes me very much anymore." I said shaking my head.
"What'd you do? Tyler likes everyone!" Finnick said jokingly.
"Maybe a little too much. He asked me to be 'more than friends' as he put it." I said.
"And how'd you respond?" Finnick asked, tensing up. If I said the wrong thing, he would walk out on me like Tyler did.
"I told him I thought we'd be better as friends only." I said as Finnick nodded.
"Well, I'm going to go because this is really awkward! So have fun showering, Luna. Bye!" Finnick said leaving. He was too happy about what happened. I'm pretty sure Tyler won't ever hang out with me ever again.
I changed into pajamas and finally told Maple what happened before bed. She started laughing though.
"You made a new reputation for yourself. Luna Primrose Mellark: Heart-Breaker." Maple said as I giggled.
I fell asleep and curled into a small ball.
Maple woke me the next morning with 'great news'.
"Finnick broke up with Rovenna."
Watch out for Icy Hearts people! If you all have any ideas for it, please let me know.
I think that's all for now! -GirlonFire
