A/N: HELLO, EVERYONE! I HAVE MADE MY RETURN TO THIS WEBSITE! It's a cause for celebration! And by celebration, I mean about 20 new chapters before the new year. The reasons there were no updates for literally THREE FRIGGIN' MONTHS: One, NaNoWriMo. Two, my art/drawing. Three, S-C-H-O-O-L. Four, a little old thing called procrastination. It is the worst of my bad habits. Now, because my lucky number is 11, I'll be having MY OC (who is practically me turned into a warrior cat XD) star in this chapter ;) Then I'll be going back you your OCs! Also, please don't kill me for not updating in forever! I'm innocent, I swear! ON ANOTHER NOTE: Please hold off on sending me OCs until I finish up all the requests I have that are currently backed up. ON WITH THE CHAPTER! (wow, I say that a lot!) It's that big ol' school dance I've been mentioning throughout this entire story. I figure I've been leaving you hanging long enough.

The music pounds in my ears as I wait outside the gym doors. My long fur, part of it dyed pink, falls in front of my eyes. Will he show up, will he not? Argh, it's aggravating! I can hear some of my friends calling out to me, but tuning them out isn't hard. StarClan, where is Oakshadow? He was supposed to pick me up at my dorm, but noooo. He was too "busy" to come and walk me to the gym. Is that so hard to do?

I'd consider texting him, but my phone is in my dorm. It's easy to lose an iPhone while you're partying. The one time I actually need that thing...

Might as well go in. I heard that this awesome band called Tropical Beach is playing the dance. I think they did the Halloween dance as well, and they were amazing! Hopefully, they've got songs with a good beat to them.

I push the doors open and let the pounding beat and swaying cats draw me into the gym. Tropical Beach was tuning up onstage. I scan the floor for my friends, Desertrose, Cliffdiver, and Mousewhisker. I have others, but they're my best friends; we share a lot of interests! I draw manga and love music. (especially singing!)

"There you all are!" I call out to my friends, finally finding them in the crowd. We beam at each other, and fight our way toward a table.

"Shimmersong! Hey!" Cliffdiver smiles. Desertrose comes up behind her.

"Yo!" She and Mouswhisker say.

"Hey, guys." I mumble, trying to sound happy. It's hard when you're date rejects you! Probably rejects you... does that even make sense? Whatever, he declined to meet me at my dorm and at the gym. It's enough of a rejection for me!

They ask what's up, I tell them what happened. We're always there for each other. And after five minutes, I'm over it and cracking jokes. I gotta love my friends!

"So, TB's gonna start playing soon. Should we hit the dance floor?" I say.

"Aw, crap. That reminds me; I better get up there. Because I just happen to be in the legendary Tropical Beach! Catch y'all after the gig!" Cliffdiver mews, and then she slips off into the crowd to join her bandmates onstage.

"Considering the fact that I'm just itching to dance, and if I don't I may explode, AND that Cliffdiver's in that band, we have just got to get on that dance floor!" Desertrose says as she practically pushes us on to the floor. The flashing lights are almost blinding. I like it that way.

"Isn't this just great?!" Mousewhisker exclaims. "It's awesome music fur dancing, and it's even better beclaws Cliffdiver is in the music!"

I shoot him a look. "Fur? Beclaws? Really, Mousewhisker. You don't need to make cat puns; just say for and because!"

"Hey, stop insulting Nepeta Leijon! And Hussie, for that matter!"

I roll my eyes, but smile at Mousewhisker. Homestuck again. It's been getting around the academy, apparently. Some webcomic? I've been putting off looking at is beclaws I- I mean BECAUSE! -think if I don't like it, I'll get annoyed by Mousewhiskers constant talking about it. I'm annoyed by it already, but it's in a friendly way. If I hate it... I might start hating him.

"GIRLY, SNAP OUT OF IT!" Desertrose yells, still dancing. "You seemed to be spacing out again."

I shake my head to clear it, and dance again. I'm a terrible dancer, but do I care? I think not. It's school; who's gonna be watching me besides my friends?

Out of habit, I've started searching for Oakshadow in the crowd. I know I shouldn't, but I can't help myself. I also can't help but winder if any of the toms will ask me to dance... a she-cat can dream! And perhaps there's hope for Oakshadow yet. If he tries to seek me out on the dance floor.

"Alright, everyone! Grab that kitty you've liked for a while now, and ask 'em to dance! We've got a slow song up next, for all you lovebirds!" Songflare calls out, a sly look on her face. She's TB's lead singer, and she can rock a stage, that's for sure.

The first few notes float out, and I gaze around, hoping to find someone to dance with. The crowd's thinned a little, and the couples are easy to spot. Just my luck, Oakshadow's dancing with another girl. I'll just be alone for now.

Turning around, I see Mousewhisker and Desertrose are dancing together. They always say they're "just friends," but I doubt it, considering how they look together. They're actually a really adorable couple! As Mousewhisker would say, "I ship it!"

Scanning the entire gym, I don't see a single cat standing alone besides me. Yep. Shimmersong, the forever-alone she-cat. What fun.

There's a tiny tap on my shoulder, like someone was scared to approach me. Whipping my head around, I see a cream-colored tom with a nervous look on his face. What was his name... Splashstorm? Yes, that's it.

"Hey... would you like to dance?" He asks, staring at the gym floor. I remember him being really shy; this must be hard for him! I can't just reject him, even if I barely know the cat.

"Sure," I say, a bright smile on my face. His face and attitude lighten almost immediately. Splashstorm's actually sort of cute when he grins like that! We start to dance in synch with the music, and he's not all that bad! Certainly a better dancer than me. We talk a little, and I learn he programs computers. He's making a video game with some of his friends! I mention that I think that's really cool, and then he asks if I want to join the team! I say yes, of course. He offered me the job of writing storyline. How can I say no, when writing is my passion? He gives me his ID so we can text about it.

The song finishes too soon, and we split up. Oh well. Back to my little artist friends!

"Who was that you were dancing with?" Desertrose inquires.

"Oh, not a new boyfriend already!" Mousewhisker exclaims. "It's not exactly good to go around dating toms one after another, then letting them go. People with start... rumors about you..."

I laugh at that. Mousewhisker can have slightly, er... y'know. Awkward thoughts sometimes. "No, no. He simply asked me to dance! I couldn't say no; he looked so scared! And Splashstorm is actually pretty cool. I'm working on a video game with him and his friends now!" They were shooting me some odd looks, so I just said, "I'll give you the details later. For now, let's party!"

By then, Tropical Beach had finished their performance, and Cliffdiver rejoined us. She brought along the rest of the band, too! So we all had the chance to hang out and dance to the songs the DJ played. Eventually Oakshadow came along and broke with me., but I don't care. Tonight, I'll just be having fun with my friends! Toms should be the least of my problems at the moment.

"So," I smile at Cliffdiver. "When's your next gig?"
