Thank you to everyone who has reviewed or followed or favorited and anyone reading this. I am so so so sorry it has taken me so long to post this next chapter. I honestly cannot believe I haven't updated in almost a year despite continual promises that I would. This chapter had been basically written for ages in my computer but I just wasn't happy with it, it gave way to much away and didn't make a great deal of sense (due to being mostly written at about 3 in the morning). Now I have fixed what I was mostly unhappy with it and I think it works better now

Summary: Zero and Kaname have always been similar, with similar traumatic experiences and pasts. Both are drawn to one another, though they are loath to admit it. As they both know the biggest difference Zero is a level D, who will one day fall to level E, while Kaname is a pureblood. However a new Day Class student seems to have hidden secrets which concern Zero, and when the truth is revealed the changes it brings about throw them into the greatest danger ever possible.

This will be a Yaoi fic, which is M/M with ZeroXKaname and vice versa. There will possibly be some TakumaXShiki as well. Some possible other pairings but Kaname/Zero Zero/Kaname will be the main one. This will mostly be Romance, Drama and possibly Humour.

A.n. This is slightly AU as Ichiru died when Shizuka was killed and Zero has not got any of her blood– so there is nothing to stop Zero falling to level E. Kaname hasn't yet given Zero any blood and Yuki is still human. Also Rido hasn't yet attacked the academy.

There is OOCness and switching of pov's. I should probably have mentioned this before, but this is un-betaed, this chapter has some bits which might be a label able as fluff

On a side note, I personally prefer Zero seme and Kaname as uke, so that will come across more but I'm not going to place either in the exclusive role of seme or uke, so they will be changing round.

Pureblood Powers

Chapter 7 – True Powers

Kaname paced up and down, along parallel to the foot of the bed, walking back and forth across the room. Alanna was sitting in the chair next to the bed, watching Kaname pace back and forth. Zero was half lying, half sitting in the bed, his eyes were flicking from Kaname to Alanna and back again. He wanted to get up, but each time he had tried he had got yelled at by Kaname and Alanna. So he had resigned himself to staying in bed. Alanna still hadn't explained anything.

Zero had regained consciousness soon after Kaname had arrived at the clearing demanding to know what the hell was going on.

Flashback at the clearing

"Kaname I can explain! I know this looks bad, but really…well you'll understand once I have explained! I promise!"

Kaname shoot across the clearing, till he was standing right next to her and the unconscious Zero. He reached to take him form her arms.

"Kaname that isn't a good idea just yet…"

"What do you mean? You'd better start explaining this right now Alanna Kinoto" Kaname was struggling to keep his powers in control. The sight of his mate unconscious in the arms of someone else was bad enough. It was all the worse when he had just bitten that person. Kaname was hanging on, he knew it was not a good idea to blast her with pureblood energy just yet. There was probably a perfectly rational explanation, there had to be …right?

"Not here, anyone could be out here and trees have ears you know!"

"Where then!"

"Um…moon dorms?"

Kaname was tempted to ask why, but decided against it. He would rather they just got to the moon dorms and Alanna explained what was going on.

"Zero! Zero! Wake up! Come on!" Alanna was lightly shaking the shoulder of the boy in her arms.

"Oh! COME ON! Zero!"

"Huh…" Zero's eyes flickered open, and he raised a hand to his forehead. He had no idea what had just happened, all he knew was he had seen blinding purple light, then felt pain like he was being ripped apart, then he had blacked out.

"Alanna…? Kaname…?"

"Come on, Zero. We have to go to the moon dorms. I'll explain there. But we need to get out of here NOW!"

"Alright…alright…" Zero with some difficulty stood. Alanna propped him up on one side and Kaname held his other side up. He wanted to carry him but when he made to do so Alanna had slightly shaken her head at him, out of Zero's line of sight.

As fast as the three could they headed for the moon dorms. Once there they had hurried to Kaname's room. Where Kaname had immediately put Zero in his bed, and once the door was shut Alanna finally let go of his hand.

End Flashback

"Okay we are at the moon dorms, so you'd better start explaining right now Alanna!"

"Okay, this might sound a bit crazy but hear me out." Her eyes flickered across both Kaname and Zero and once she got a nod from them both, Alanna continued.

"First things first, my real name - it isn't Alanna Kinoto. Well my first name is Alanna, but my second…well I don't know where Kaien Cross got the name Kinoto from. He just pulled it from thin air. It was one of the conditions of me attending Cross Academy."

"What was?" Kaname interrupted

Alanna glared at him, Kaname suddenly noticed that her eyes were no longer hazel, but violet. Deep and dark violet.

"I was getting to that, and didn't I say to hear me out and not interrupt?"

"Sorry!" Kaname rolled his eyes skywards

"Huh!" Alanna muttered noticing the rolling of eyes, and tucked some of her curls back behind her right ear, before continuing "Anyway, Cross said I could only attend the Academy if I kept my true identity and why I was here hidden. He said I could keep my first name, he said you wouldn't remember me Kaname, but it would just be plain stupid to have my real surname."

"Why would I remember you?" Kaname looked across at Alanna wondering why he might remember her, but could not think of anything

"We met before, but anyway I'm getting to that. I came to Cross Academy for a reason. I was looking for you, Zero."

Zero's eyes widened, and he got over some shock "Why, were you looking for me?" he could see no reason for anyone other than a hunter from the Association or a revenge wanting vampire might be looking for him

Alanna paused for a moment, her eyes flicked between the two. It was now or never, she had to say it. She licked suddenly dry lips and gulped, fussing with her hair, winding it round her fingers

"Zero…what if you weren't a normal falling level D vampire…?" she spoke slowly and softly looking directly at Zero

"What's that got to do with it, and what do you mean by that?" Kaname demanded, he wanted answers faster than he was getting them

Alanna sighed, slightly ignoring Kaname – but she hadn't got a response from Zero either, she would just say it point blank then,

"Zero, you aren't the only other Kiryu. There isn't any way you could have known. I'm your older sister. My real name is Alanna Violet Kiryu. The eldest Kiryu heir…"

"WHAT! ALANNA KIRYU!" Kaname had yelled and caused Alanna to yank her hair painfully in surprise, Zero for his part seemed to have frozen in shock

Alanna looked nervously at Zero, she wasn't sure what she was expecting but she didn't think him freezing in shock was a good response. After a few seconds Zero seemed to recover slightly and said weakly "How and…"

"That isn't all Zero." Alanna cut across him, she might as well tell them everything. "The Kiryu's were the one of the first Ancient families, only they weren't called Kiryu then…they were called…Vita." Now the words were spilling out, faster than before

"The Vita family was the very first Ancient Vampire Pureblood family. They come from the time of the ancient vampire human war. They created the hunters."

Kaname spoke faintly "I thought the Vita family was wiped out, I thought the last heir was the one who threw her heart into the furnace, and that was the last of them. There is no record of them since that time!"

"I'm not entirely sure of all the details, I only know what I found in dairy that she left behind. She left a child behind, well I say child I think the girl was about 18 when she threw her heart into the furnace. She had told her child what she was going to do and told her to seal her vampire powers and join the humans fighting against the vampires. She agreed, but neither of them knew that to seal vampire properly needs another's life. From what I can gather she ran off to join the hunters fighting the vampires. It was while fighting she found one of the first Kiryu's. They fell in love and once the war was ended they married and lived together, raised a family and so the most powerful hunter line began, the Kiryu's."

"But I don't understand, if all along the Kiryu's were really Purebloods and her vampire side wasn't fully sealed. Why didn't they revert to purebloods or at very least low level vampires or something! They were just normal human hunters? I mean I know the Vita family were the strongest of the Ancient Vampires, it is recorded in vampire history books, but still…" Kaname wondered aloud

"From what I can gather the girl used the strongest spells she could. But obviously it wasn't a full sealing, so the vampire side grows stronger and the seal weaker, until the children revert back to being vampires. The seal has been getting weaker and weaker, and our generation would be the first one to be vampires again. Kaien explained that a pureblood before it is born can sense powers manifesting in the mother and he guessed that I sensed that they were unnaturally high so took more than was meant for one vampire. He guessed I took all of the powers, so any subsequent children weren't vampires."

Here Alanna paused, to check that Kaname and Zero were following

"You keep mentioning the Ancient Families, what or who are they exactly?" Zero asked, he had never heard of Ancient Families before

It was Kaname that spoke in answer to his question "Long before the ancient vampire/hunter war, there were only purebloods. They were the first vampires, most would breed with and turn humans, thus creating the lower levels of the vampire race. However some of them did not do as other did, and bred ONLY with one another, thus the 'purebloods'. Then it transpired that there were six pureblood families which would only breed with other members of the same family. Unlike the other purebloods that interbreed between families, which went on to become the other purebloods of today, like the Shirabuki family and such.

If a Pureblood is the vampire among vampires then the ancient families were the Purebloods among Purebloods. They were the very top of the hierarchy, the best of the best so to speak. However after a few generations of this, it transpired that there were two camps of thought among the families three of them wanted to protect the humans from the other lower purebloods and new vampires, who were creating Level E's, attacking humans and such. The other wanted to dominate the human race and make them slaves to the vampires. The Six families fought, and that was the start of the ancient war.

Since the families were evenly matched the war quickly spewed out across the other vampires. They picked a side and fought, the humans were quickly caught up in the fighting too. It was then decided by the three ancient families wishing to protect the humans, that the only way to stop the war and even the odds was to give some of the humans the power to fight vampires. And the Vita heir volunteered to be the one to do it. She was the one who threw her heart into the furnace and gave her blood some of the humans and the ones who survived became the hunters.

At the time she was thought to be the last, as she had no signs of having had a child and had lost her mate, the other Vita heir, in a battle two years previously. It is known that with some of the humans possessing the ability to kill vampires the ones wishing to enslave the human race were either wiped out or surrendered. It is assumed the remaining families began interbreeding after the war, as there is no record of them after the war" Kaname concluded

"Hang on a minute, I think Kaien can explain some of these points better than I can, I'll go and get him. Keep an eye on Zero, Kaname."

Then before either of them could say anything Alanna set of across the grounds to inform the headmaster of what had just transpired.

"What does it feel like to suddenly become a pureblood, Zero?" Kaname asked

"A bit weird actually, at first I thought it felt like I suddenly wasn't a vampire. But now I can feel that I have more power, though I can't sense how strong the powers are."

"What about the hunter powers? Do you still have them or are they fighting the change to pureblood?"

"I think I still have them I haven't felt them leave, but they aren't fighting the change into a pureblood. I can test if I still have them though!"

"Don't even think about putting a curse on me!"

"As if I'd do that Kaname, I'm not going to put a curse on you! I can pick up Bloody Rose, if I can still hold her (A.n. I'm going to refer to the gun as a female) then I will still have my hunter powers, if I can't then they've been absorbed by the pureblood part."

Zero reached into his pocket, bracing himself for if he couldn't pick up Bloody Rose, then what would he do? Bloody Rose felt was like an old friend to him, he had owned her for many years now and she seemed the only familiar thing at the moment. Also if he had lost his powers he would get a shock from picking the gun up. He grasped the handle and pulled it out, thankfully without any incident.

"I guess I do still have my hunter power, I wonder why? I'll ask Alanna when she returns, she might know."

Meanwhile at the Headmasters Quarters

Alanna had hurried to the headmaster's quarters, yes she wasn't looking forward to telling him, but the sooner the better. Also she hoped to catch him before he fell asleep (not that there was much luck of that, it was past midnight!) When she arrived she had gone in and hurried to his room, banging on the door

"Headmaster, Kaien Cross! Are you there? Please it's Alanna, I need to talk to you!"

Kaien finally emerged, after Alanna had yelled three times. He was bleary eyed and his glasses were askew, since he was so hyper in the day, seeing him half asleep and yawning was surprising. (Alanna wasn't surprised to see that Kaien slept in teddy bear patterned pyjamas with a matching sleeping hat, and had come to the door in fluffy pink rabbit slippers, though.)

"Kaien Cross, I have something I have to tell you…"

Kaien woke up properly at the Alanna's words "Sounds serious, what is it Alanna?"

Alanna looked at her feet, it wasn't just because she was feeling guilty that she was avoiding Kaien's face it was also because it was hard to take Kaien seriously when he looked so funny.

"Come into my office, Alanna."

Kaien walked down the corridor a few doors down and opened the door to his office. He sat behind the desk as Alanna followed after him.

"What do you have to tell me that it is so urgent it couldn't wait until morning, Alanna?"

"…I'm really sorry Kaien! I didn't mean it to happen and certainly not this way!" Alanna burst out

"Slow down Alanna, take a breath! What has happened?"

"…I have returned Zero to his true self! He was who I was looking for, and he was falling to Level E, and I found him, and he bit me, and then I knew I HAD to say the spell, and so he turned back into a pureblood…"

Kaien looked at Alanna over the top of his glasses,

"Who else knows of this?"

"Just Kaname I think, he was on his way back, and felt the energy"

"If Kaname felt the energy, then it's safe to say that it isn't just Kaname that knows. And the rest of the vampires and probably the hunters will want an explanation."

"Do you think…they…will know?"

"I think they will probably guess, they know that you are the only one who could produce that sort of power and it won't take long for them to put two and two together and get four. We need to be prepared for them. You already told me they are after you and I assume they will want Zero too?"

"I think they will come after Zero and Kaname as well…and if they figure it out they will come after Yuki too."

"Even though she is still a human?"

"If they figure realise that she is Kaname's sister, then yes. We are all in danger if they can track us down, the spell is clever though, it has a kind of shield so the exact location is indeterminable to those creatures and it leaves no residue to trace and is only visible for a second so not long enough for them to get a track on it."

"So even if they felt it, they won't be able to track it?"

"Correct, it is only if they have some knowledge of where to look that they will be able to trace it, and as far as I know they don't. So we should be safe for now."

Now that Kaien had checked that they were all safe he was fast reverting to his usual 'daft' mode.

"Oh, I want to go and see my little Zero, now he's a pureblood!"

"He's at the Moon Dorms, with Kaname. I guess you can come and see him. But please put some proper clothes on!"

"Of course Alanna, of course. Just wait one moment!"

Alanna sighed, but waited till Kaien was dressed properly and the two set out to go across to the Moon dorms.

Meanwhile at the Vampire Senate

Asato Ichijo had thought Kaname might be a bit stubborn about marrying Sara, he had always thought Kaname had acted cold and standoffish to her. He had hoped that Rido turning up would help Kaname comply but this had proved to have backfired. He decided that when the time came to review the situation in December Kaname would be more open to reason. These were the thoughts running through his head while Kaname was speeding back to Cross Academy in his limo.

Asato wanted to stay at the senate for now and sort things out so in December the actual marriage part was ready – they would make Kaname marry Sara, when a shake of power, almost certainly vampire related had been felt through the building.

He raced back down four flights of stairs in into the basement. Here was where the vampire senate monitored vampire energy powers throughout the country and since this was the main HQ of the vampire senate all the data for the world was sent here. There were two level B vampires and three level C vampires on duty checking the monitors. This was necessary so they could try and spot high congregations of level E's, thus signifying a rough Pureblood and also because Asato liked to know what was going on and was a bit of a nosy bastard. The only vampires which could fully shield themselves from this monitoring were purebloods, but Asato figured that even they wouldn't have been able to shield that!

Usually it was a pretty boring job monitoring the levels, it was only when there was an unexplained high or low that it got interesting. Asato went down to find the 5 duty vampires going crazy, two were rushing back and forward faxing information to other monitoring centres one was on the phone and the other two were transfixed to the monitors.

"What was that, just now! Was it vampire related!" Asato demanded of the vampires on duty.

"Yes! It most certainly was. There was a massive energy bolt in the vicinity of Cross Academy. It just spiked up them shot back to normal, now it is at normal level just a little higher, the only time this happens is when a pureblood is created – but the only known pureblood in that area is Kaname Kuran. So we are completely stumped. Ichijo – Sama." Explained the level B vampire, who had turned round from the monitors, upon Asato entering.

The other level B who had been on the phone, replaced the phone and said, "We have had reports from even the furthest location monitoring centres and they all reported that they had had an energy spike at roughly the same time then levels had returned to normal. This was felt everywhere, we need to find out what happened."

"I will contact my grandson and Kaname Kuran at Cross Academy, they must surely know what has happened."

So Asato headed back up the stairs calling Takuma immediately on his mobile

Back at Cross Academy Moon dorms

Kaien burst into the room where Zero was calling

"Zero!"

Zero put his head in his hands and would have banged it on a wall had he been near one

"Why did you have to bring him back here, Alanna!" he spoke through clenched teeth.

"I couldn't really stop him coming here Zero, he is your legal guardian, besides he can help to explain this!"

"Only till I'm 18! Then I'm an adult!"

"So you expected to keep the fact that you were a pureblood a secret, from an ex-vampire hunter. Who can sense vampires, cos that was really going to work wasn't it?" Alanna's voice dripped with sarcasm

"Um…yeah…" Zero trailed off as he realised the fatal flaw in his plan – Kaien would sense him immediately.

"Oh, Zero I'm so happy for you! You have some family again and you're taking this extremely well!"

"Kaien! Please keep your voice down! We don't want anyone else to know!" Alanna's voice was sharp. "Yes, Zero is a pureblood now and while that's all well and good…we need to decide what to do!"

"What do you mean do?" Kaien was confused

"So you want me and Zero to remain in the day class, even though we're pureblood vampires?"

"Why not?"

"Zero has to learn about being a vampire!"

"You and Kaname can teach him right?"

"Err HELLO! I am right here in the room with you! And I know about being a vampire! I was already a vampire and we learnt about it from hunter lessons!" Zero yelled, causing the large ornate mirror opposite the bed to crack in two. Alanna sighed and repaired the damage bring the mirror back to normal

"Remember your powers are stronger now Zero, you have to be careful!"

"That's what I mean Zero! You need to learn about the increase in powers and things, that come with being a pureblood vampire. Anyway, while this is an important matter I really think I can explain this better when I've had some more sleep, so I'll come back tomorrow evening. Until then You should stay here Zero and get some rest."

Alanna sighed she should have known the headmaster wouldn't have explained everything tonight.

"You two stay here for the night, I'm going back to take Kaien back to his quarters and stay in my rooms for tonight. Get some rest there is important stuff to tell you tomorrow!" Alanna instructed

Kaien left the room and Alanna turned to follow, but Zero called out

"Alanna!"

"What?"

"Why do you call him Kaien, rather than headmaster or dad or something?"

"He's not my legal guardian, Zero. I'm 19, an adult, I'm not required by law to have a guardian. And he's always been Kaien to me."

"oh…"

Alanna left leaving Zero with his thoughts

"I wonder how long she's known Kaien for then? Also Kaname I noticed you kept very quiet during all that, why?"

"It kinda seemed like a family moment, I didn't want to intrude. Plus Alanna and Kaien will explain more tomorrow."

"Um, Kaname how do you feel about this though? I mean now I'm a pureblood and Alanna is too and she's my sister."

"I'm pleased for you."

Zero looked up at Kaname, despite what he had said, Kaname still looked kind of sad. Zero sat up more, the sheets falling round his waist revealing his bare chest (which was kind of distracting for Kaname), and pulled Kaname into his arms, whispering in his ear

"What's bothering you Kaname?"

"… …"

"I'm not so good at mind reading I can read your mind, Kaname. What's wrong? The fact that I am a pureblood doesn't make me want you any less."

"Kaname buried his face in Zero's silver hair, and muttered

"You don't need my blood any more though…"

"Oh, Kaname! I can still want your blood though can't I?" Zero pulled puppy face

"Of course you can Zero!"

"Good."

Zero smiled and pulled Kaname closer before beginning to slowly lick Kaname's neck, pulling his shirt collar down for better access to Kaname's neck.

"I would hate if I couldn't do this anymore" he whispered in Kaname's ear

Kaname felt a prickle of desire shoot through him

"Don't tease me Zero! Please…" Kaname's next words were lost in a moan as Zero carried on licking and kissing his neck, concentrating especially on the sensitive bite area.

"Damn it Zero, please bite me now!"

"Well…since you said please." Zero answered and slid his fangs into Kaname's neck.

Kaname nestled closer to Zero, with a small sigh of satisfaction, raising his hands to hold Zero's head and nestling his long slender fingers in Zero's soft silver strands of hair. Zero encircled his arms tighter round Kaname pulling them completely together.

Kaname could feel Zero's blood it was tantalisingly close to him, he desperately wanted to bite Zero back. But on the other hand he wasn't sure if that was a good idea. Zero detached from Kaname's neck.

"You want to bite me." It was a statement not a question "You can you know." Sensing Kaname's hesitation he added "I want you to Kaname."

Zero moved his head back onto Kaname's neck, licking and biting. But making sure his neck was prominent enough to give Kaname the message. Kaname got it, and licked his tongue over Zero's neck, which sent shivers down Zero's spine. Before slowly slowly Kaname sank his fangs into Zero's neck.

Mutual blood sharing in this way, now they were the same level of vampire, intensified pleasure even more than it had before. This quickly led to arousal.

"God, Zero!" Kaname panted against Zero's neck. The blood sharing meant the pleasure was passed from one to the other tenfold which in turn lead to even more pleasure being passed back and forth with increasing intensity.

"I know, it's even more intimate than before."

"I didn't know that from another pureblood, I had a romantic feelings with it would be so strong."

"Just romantic feelings!" Zero pulled Kaname down and rolled them other so he was on top

"This is better, Kana.." he whispered in Kaname's ear before kissing down from the fast fading bite marks unbuttoning Kaname's shirt as he went. Kaname felt his bod shudder as Zero blew gently across his nipples. He covered his mouth with his hands, muffling the small whimpers he was making.

Zero dragged Kaname's hands down

"I want to hear you, to see your face Kana…me"

Kaname turned a deep dark red, as Zero returned to his chest and began nibbling at his nipples, before moving across the chest, biting hard enough to break the skin but not to draw blood. He was filled with an insatiable desire to mark Kaname, but every bite faded away due to his healing powers. Finally he mover down even further drawing down the zip on Kaname's trousers, Kaname fisted his hands in Zero's hair as Zero removed his boxers. Both were incredibly aroused, so much so that it practically hurt.

Zero licked Kaname from base to tip and Kaname screamed

"God, Zero I'm going to cum, please I want you inside me…"

Zero could tell that Kaname was close, in fact he himself was close. He didn't know if he could hold on while prepping Kaname. But he was dammed if he didn't try too.

He began to lick and kiss around Kaname's entrance, causing Kaname to hold his sliver locks even tighter. Taking this as a sign on encouragement he licked Kaname's entrance, and pushed his tongue in. Kaname yelled and arched his back of the bed, Zero pushed a little deeper, Kaname continued to writhe beneath him on the bed. Zero removed his tongue to replace it with two fingers, he had hastily covered with saliva. After scissoring them he added a third.

"Please Zero, I really am going to cum. I want you inside me. And I mean properly – not just your fingers…"

Zero knew he hadn't prepped Kaname enough, and despite the throbbing in his dick he really didn't want to hurt his Kaname. But how could Zero refuse begging like that!

Rising up he made sure he was fully coated with precum and then he slowly entered, feeling Kaname's limbs encircle him, as he seated himself deeply inside his lover. After a few minutes Zero felt Kaname rock against him, as the pain turned to pleasure, and began to thrust in and out in time. It was slow at first but it sooner became faster. As Zero pushed against the bundle of nerves deep inside Kaname, he also reached down and began to pump Kaname's penis in time with his thrusts. Kaname rocked against him pulling him as deep as he could.

"Zero…harder…faster..." he was calling out "I'm…close…" he panted

"Me…too...let's…cum…together…" Zero timed his thrusts and pumps perfectly till together they reached oblivion, Kaname spurting across both their chests and Zero emptying himself inside Kaname, as they called one another's names.

Zero dropped down on top of Kaname's chest, pulling his now limp dick out from Kaname.

"Wow, sex as a pureblood is way better."

"There is one other thing too Zero…"

"What?" Zero looked up at Kaname brushing his hair out of his face

Kaname leaned down and whispered in his ear

"Purebloods heal a lot faster and can go on longer too"

Zero smirked, "I'll remember that for future reference Kaname. Or are you saying you want another round now?"

Kaname gulped slightly he could see that despite Zero's seductive speech he really was tired. It had been a lot to take in after all

"While another round would be quite alright, I think we really should rest so we can take in everything tomorrow."

Zero was quite glad of this, if Kaname had said yes Zero would have done his best to continue, but he was quite content to just fall asleep with Kaname right now.

At the Headmasters Quarters

When Alanna and Kaien arrived back at Kaien's quarters

Kaien was about to go back to bed, but Alanna had stopped him.

"Kaien, you know I said I was safe until Zero was turned…well he's been turned now. I probably don't have long. I think I should leave within a week's time."

"But Zero needs you here to teach him all you know about ancient family vampires! Besides you don't know what the effects will be!"

"Kaien! I would rather die on my own terms! Not ended by the hunter association or my brother or Kaname!"

"It may not come to that, Alanna."

"It will, it must! An ancient family pureblood vampire, cannot survive if there chosen mate is not alive! All that has kept me sane so far was fighting to control more powers than one body can handle, which were going stronger by the day, as Zero's 18 birthday approached! Now they are released what will become of me?"

"Zero, can't afford to lose any more family, Alanna. You are all he has left. To be told of you then a few days later to lose you…"

"He has Kaname, and it wasn't like I ever knew him before now!"

"What about Kaname then? You were like siblings for years!"

"He doesn't remember though! And neither does Yuki!"

"So you aren't going to tell him?"

"What good will it do? Either way I go mad from lack of a mate. I want to be able to leave before the end. It is dangerous for me to be here, I attract bad things they are still looking for me and I am surrounded by humans!"

"It is when you leave that bad things happen Alanna! You left your real family – they were attacked by Shizuka Hio! You left the ones who took you in, they were attacked!"

"You removed me from my real family! And something far worse would have happened to those who took me in if I had stayed. They were on my trail, they stop at nothing, and you know who I was with, they would have taken them all and probably completed the ritual! I couldn't risk that!"

"I also only agreed you could come here, if you kept the school safe! If you leave now you will be leaving two people, who they need, and who they can find easily. And you said it yourself – they stop at nothing – if you leave you're effectively endangering the world! You are prepared to leave us to fight them alone?"

"I'm endangering people by staying here! I could turn at any moment. And devour humans uncontrollably! Then I will end by a hunter gun, Zero or Kaname. I don't want that. Besides I have a plan. They will not come if they no longer exist!" Alanna smiled, And her eyes glinted red, "I will go to their base, and release all my energy, they will be consumed in the power, and the problem will be solved. Life can continue as normal!"

"You'll perish though!"

"That will happen anyway! Isn't it better that I die saving everyone, rather than just a few?"

"You planned this from the beginning." It was a statement not a question

"Yes, I had to think of everything. Since I die either way, I may as well try and rid the world of them."

"But you don't know that Jay is dead! He might not be! Then you are setting him up to fall into madness!"

"All I know is I released power, I killed everything within a 5 meter radius. He was standing right next to me! When I came too, he was gone, not even ashes remained. He must have been killed!"

"You don't know though! Why not just wait a while before running off? If you still feel the same in a week and Zero knows all you can tell him then we'll think about you leaving."

"Kaien…I don't want to leave. But I have too!"

"Please at least sleep on it, Alanna!"

"Okay, I'll sleep on it…and I won't leave without saying goodbye…"

Kaien turned to his room and Alanna, headed towards the rooms she had used when she used to stay here. The thoughts that she had filled her with sadness, but she knew in here heart of hearts she must, as her ancestor had once done, sacrifice herself. She did owe it to Zero to tell him everything, and she should really tell Kaname the truth too, just in case her plan failed they had to be prepared, both of them.

Right well, that was a lot that happened in a short space of time. Hopefully things which might not have made sense in this chapter will become clearer in the next chapter. Though I can't make any promises on when that will be finished and posted, but I will try to make it be sooner than this one.
