I'm sorry it took so long. Hope you like it.
Daughter? Daughter?! Trish has a daughter?! What the hell?
"Trish?" I gasped. "Uhh…Maya, why don't you come in?"
"Sure," she said as she walked in.
"Trish, what the hell?" I quietly demanded.
"Remember that one year when I was in Spain? I was pregnant and that was after Trent left. I had no choice so I gave her up and she found me. I don't know what to do."
"You kept that from me? How could you?"
"I'm sorry. Just help me."
"With what?"
"I don't know how to take care of a kid."
"Seriously?!"
I led her into the living room where Maya is.
"Maya, it is good to finally meet you," I said. "I'm Ally, Trish's best friend. You can call me Aunt Ally if you want."
"Aunt Ally?" She said. "That's funny. You're pregnant?"
"Yes."
"Boy or girl?"
"I really don't know yet. It's a bit too early. So where have you been?"
"I've been living in a foster home in Detroit. I ran away to come find my mother."
"Yes, I am glad to see you," said Trish.
Austin walked in and asked, "Ally, who's this?"
"Maya, this is my husband, Austin," I introduced them. "Austin, this is Trish's daughter, Maya."
"Daughter? What the hell, Trish? You kept it from us that long?"
"Seriously?" Trish scoffed. "Maya, do you want to stay with me?"
"Do you want me to stay?" asked Maya.
"Look, Maya. You can stay and we can start all over."
"How can you prove it?"
"Let's go on vacation."
"Vacation? To where?"
"Pick wherever."
"How about…New York?"
"Done. Okay, you wanna meet my family? Austin, Ally, tell the kids to pack their bags and I'll call Dez and Rosie. We are going to New York!"
"Wait, what?" asked Austin. "Are you serious?"
"Yes, I am taking y'all to New York. In two days, we will go to New York. I will pay for everything and you won't have to worry about anything. We will stay at the Plaza Hotel."
"Let's do this." I said.
Beep, beep, beep! My eyes fluttered to the sound of our alarm clock. It was four AM. Our flight leaves in forty-five minutes!
"Austin, wake up!" I yelled.
His eyes shot open. "Uhh? What?"
"Our flight leaves in half an hour."
"Oh, yeah." Austin threw his legs off of the bed. "Get everything ready. I'll wake the kids."
I quickly started getting dressed and got the kids dressed. We all packed our suitcases in the car and hurried to the airport.
In the car, Austin was driving while the kids were in the back.
"We got everything, right?" I asked. "The clothes, chargers, electronics, and all?"
"Positive, Alls," yawned Austin. "And Mrs. Bowie is staying with Norm so she's fine. We got all the kids."
"Are you sure?"
"Let see. Krishna?!"
"Daddy, I'm here!" She yelled.
"Leighton?!"
"Right here, Dad."
"Jase?!"
"We're behind you. No need to yell."
"Austin Jr?"
"Austin Jr?" I asked.
"The baby."
"That don't count because the baby goes wherever I go."
"Oh, yeah."
"By the way, his name is not Austin Jr."
"Oh, come on. Why not?"
"I want only one Austin and that is you."
"So what's his name?"
"We will figure it out later. By the way, stop calling the baby a boy. We don't know the gender yet."
"Boys run through my family."
"Well girls run through mine."
"Do we really have to argue about this?" asked Leighton.
"Leigh, don't get into an argument with your mom. She's always right." said Austin.
"What do you mean I'm always right?" I asked.
"Mom, you do always think you're right," added Jase.
"I do not do that. How dare y'all?" I shrieked. "I am not always right."
"That's the only thing you're right about," said Austin.
"How dare you?"
"It's true."
"I agree with Dad," said Jase.
"Would y'all just shut up?!" Krishna yelled at the top of her lungs.
We all grew silent and made it to the airport. We met the rest of the family on the plane. Luckily, we all get to sit together.
"Babe, I am nervous," I said to Austin.
"What's wrong?" He asked.
"This is my first time on a plane."
"First time? You can't be serious."
"I am. This is scary."
"Alls, calm down. I've been on a plane a bunch of times. It's fine."
"How do you know? Are you sure?"
"It's perfectly safe."
Rosie leaned into our conversation and said, "Ally, it's alright. What's the worst thing that could happen? The pilots are drunk and starting making loops in the sky. Suddenly, it's mayday! We crash into a school for the deaf and they couldn't hear us so…Aww!"
My heartbeat accelerated and I choked for the moment. Austin gave Rosie a look and hissed, "Rose, you are not helping."
"Austin, I never said I was. It's like the time I got arrested for fraud when I just gave them my credit card. And I wasn't at all!"
"They thought you were pretending to be Rosario Dawson."
"Not my fault. My full name is Rosario Angelica Margarita Dawson. At least I am now Rosie Fisher. Now if you excuse me, I will be listening to my music."
As Rosie sat back, Austin tried his best to calm me down but I just couldn't. We are a thousand feet up in the air. How scary could it get?
The kids haven't complain about anything while I was sitting there like a scared little kid. Plus, for the past two hours, Jase has been talking to Maya for a long time. In front of us, I could hear them laughing and talking as if they had been friends for a long time.
"Austin?" I whispered.
"Why are you whispering?" He replied.
"Have notice that our son has been talking to Trish's daughter for a really long time?"
"Yeah. So what?"
"You don't get it, do you?"
"I can't read your mind, Ally. What is it?"
"Remember when Jase was in sixth grade, he had a crush on his English teacher, Ms. Kincaid."
"Oh, yeah. Ms. Kincaid." He sighed as he smiled. "I mean…Ms. Kincaid."
"Remember when he did all of his homework and put on your aftershave. He even wrote her love letters and we could tell when he has a crush."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. You are overthinking, Ally. He does not have a crush on her."
"Well let's see."
We carefully looked at Jase without being seen. Maya just told him something funny and he laughed with a little snort.
"He snorted," I told Austin.
"I know that. That does not mean anything." said Austin.
"Is he smiling a lot?"
"Yeah—"
"That's number two."
"You are being ridiculous."
"Did Jase scratch the back of his neck?"
"Oh, my god. He's like his ol' man."
"I told you. What do we do?"
"I don't know. This is more awkward than Jase's first girlfriend, Danielle."
Ugh! Danielle Santiago was the most meanest, air-headed, most irresponsible girl I have ever met. Jase went out wit her last year for a few weeks. After those few weeks, he brought the monster home. Jase was actually thankful that Krishna kicked her out.
"Not her ever again." I said.
"Should we tell Trish?"
"I don't know. It may not be a good idea."
"I know what you mean. Trish is like our sister and Maya is like our niece. Jase will be with his cousin."
"Calm down. We just gotta wait and see."
