Chapter IV
The Beach
Annabeth
"Annabeth!" Percy called.
"What?" I shouted.
"Jump in!" he said as he swam around the ocean.
"I'm busy!" I answered and went back to making my sand castle.
After a few minutes...
"Annabeth!"
This time it wasn't Percy who called me. It was Daddy.
"Yeah, Daddy?" I called.
"Come swim with us!" he said as he swam around with Percy by his side.
"No thanks!" I shouted and continued to build the tower.
When I finished making the sand castle...
"Annabeth!" Daddy and Percy shouted.
"What?"
"Get in!" they called at the same time.
"Nah! I'm going to Mommy and Sally!" I answered. As I stood up, a bunch of hands caught me. It was Daddy and Percy.
"Hey! Let go!" I screamed. I tried to kick Percy, who was holding my legs. I missed.
"Let me go!" I screamed.
"As you wish, Honey." Daddy said with a mischievous smile.
They dropped me in the ocean.
"This was not what I meant!" I complained.
"Oh come on, Wise Girl. You know you love it." He said with a teasing smile.
"Whatever." I huffed.
"You so do!" Percy said.
"I think some more seaweed got stuck in your brain." I said.
"Did not!" Percy said.
"Did too!" I answered.
"Kids!" Daddy said.
"Sorry." We both said at the same time.
The three of us swam around and had a bunch of water fights.
Now don't tell Seaweed Brain this, but I loved every second of it.
Percy
When the sun came down, Mommy said she reserved all of us a spot in this fancy restaurant by the beach. Maybe that's why she told me to bring my tuxito? I think that's what you call it.
"Mommy! Are you finished?" I whined as she adjusted the ribbon on my neck. "Why do I have to wear a ribbon? Now, I feel like a girl. Everyone will laugh at me."
Mommy chuckled. "No, they won't. Besides, all the men in the restaurant will be wearing ties."
"Really?" I said.
"Yup." Mommy said.
"Oh, good." I sighed in relief.
As we walked to the entrance of the restaurant, I said, "You look really pretty, Mommy."
"Thanks, Sweetie. You look handsome." she said as she kissed my cheek. "Oh look, the Chases are here."
"Hi, Annabeth!" I called. She was wearing a dark blue patterned dress.
"Hi Percy!" she said and ran to me. "You look nice."
"You too." I said.
"Thanks." she smiled.
"Shall we go, my princess?" I held my hand out.
Annabeth giggled. "Why, of course, my prince."
We both laughed and entered the restaurant together.
...
We were all eating our dinner, sharing stories, and having a good time. Suddenly, the background music stopped and a guy with this huge violin started playing some music.
"May I?" Mr. Chase said.
Mrs. Chase smiled. "Yes."
They went to the dance floor and started dancing to the music.
"Can I have this dance?" I said to Mommy.
"Of course, Sweetie." Mommy stood up and we walked towards the dance floor. I tried to copy Mr. Chase, where he placed he positioned his hands but I was too short. Mommy laughed.
"It's alright. Here, just take my hands." Mommy said.
I did so. "There we go." she said.
We danced around while talking about random things.
"Hey, Percy. I'm a little tired. Why don't you go ask Annabeth for a dance?" Mommy said.
"Sure!" I said. Mommy went back to her seat while I tapped Annabeth on the shoulder.
"Wise Girl, can I have this dance?" I asked.
"It's: May I have this dance? And sure, Seaweed Brain."
I held her right hand and put my left hand around her waist, and we danced. Sometimes, I would step on her foot or vice versa (it was harder than dancing with Mommy because none of us knew how to dance) and either we would just ignore it or laugh. When a faster song came on, I would twirl Annabeth around and she would giggle. Once, I twirled her around and I forgot to catch her. She landed on her butt. Whoops.
"Are you okay?" I said.
Annabeth simply nodded and laughed.
We continue to dance until the song ended.
"That was fun, Perce." Annabeth said.
"Yeah, even if none of us knew how to dance." We both laughed.
"Promise that we'll be best friends forever?" I said.
"Promise. Best friends forever." She raised her right hand.
"Hey, look! There's a chocolate fountain! Let's go check it out." Annabeth ran to the buffet table with me following right behind her.
