POV: Michelangelo
I stood in front of Autumn's door with a plate full of the breakfast that I had just made. I didn't know what else I could do to make her see that we weren't bad but she just wouldn't listen to me. Silently I opened up her door and peeked inside, knowing there was more than a chance that Autumn would notice and throw something at me I prepared myself for anything. Looking inside the dark room I felt my heart stop beating.
"Guys! Autumn isn't in her room!" I yelled as I ran into the living room. Donnie and Leo just calmly looked at me like I was yelling about something stupid. "Didn't you hear me?"
"Who couldn't hear you?" Raph glared at me as he walked out of the kitchen, carrying his pet turtle in his arms.
"Don't worry Mikey. Autumn got up just a little before you did and she's now in the dojo talking to Master Splinter." Leo explained before he went back to watching Space Heroes.
"So wait Autumn the girl I hadn't been able to get out of her room is now in the dojo talking to our sensei, just like that?" I asked.
"I guess." Donnie shrugged.
"And none of you want to spy to see what their talking about?" I asked innocently.
"Don't Mikey, Master Splinter told us not to go near the dojo until they were done talking and that was an order." Leo told me sternly. Pouting, I sat down besides Donnie who was to busy on his laptop to even notice.
POV: Splinter
"I have a few questions for you Whiskers." Autumn said while we walked into the dojo. I looked down at her a little taken back by the name. Taking my usual spot in front of the room I gestured for her to seat down in front of me. She did and her eyes locked on mine, it was in that moment I knew that she was my brother's daughter, the unmoving serious expression, ready for anything and everything and her eyes ablaze with determination.
"I am more than willing to help you but please refrain from calling me…whiskers." I told her, letting her see that I would not put up with sass in my home. Her serious expression fell away for just a moment and she bowed to me respectfully.
"I am sorry. I did not mean any disrespect."
"It is alright. You may call me Splinter or sensei if you wish."
"Okay. Splinter. My first question is how do you know my dad?" She asked sitting back up.
"I am your father's adopted brother Hamato Yoshi." She looked at me in shock. Autumn stood and glared down at me.
"You're lying. You JUST said that your name was Splinter and besides that you're a giant rat!" Autumn shouted. I sighed and nodded.
"Yes, you are right both accounts but they story that lead up to me looking like this is quite complicated." I said, looking up at her. Autumn's expression didn't change as she sat back down and crossed her arms.
"Try me."
"It all started when I lost my family in a fight with the Shredder and made my trip from Japan to America…" I left out about the part of her father and mother for the time being, I didn't think she was ready to hear it yet. I told her how I bought four baby turtles and followed two sketchy looking people down an alley way. And how they had this mysterious ooze that transformed both me and my boys into the 'people' that we are today. And Autumn sat through the whole story listening to every word that I said and at the end she just looked at me.
"So you're saying that this ooze is what made you what you are today?" She asked.
"Yes."
"And how can I take your word that you are my dad's adopted brother?"
"I'll show you." I told her and stood, walking over to my pictures. Autumn was right on my tail, literally. Picking up the picture that Michelangelo was looking at earlier I handed it to her and she looked down at the framed photo. She looked at my human self and then back up at me. Looking back at the picture she sighed and smirked.
"I guess you're telling the truth. Your eyes never changed." She handed it back to me and smirked up at me and once again I saw her father in her. "But I still have a few more questions there whiskers…I mean Splinter."
"Ask away."
"Where is…this place?" She asked while looking around the dojo.
"We are under the great New York city if that's what you mean."
"We're under New York?" She asked, looking at me in shock.
"Yes, my family and I live in an abandon subway station." Looking around the room once more she nodded and smiled.
"Wow. Looking at this place you could never tell that." She complimented. And now for my last question, was my dad really captured by those alien robot things?" She asked. Putting a comforting hand on her shoulder I looked down at her and nodded.
"Yes. I am so sorry." I whispered. She sighed and for a few moments neither of said anything.
"I can still fight back." She whispered I looked down and saw she still had that determined look in her eyes. She stepped around me and made her way across the dojo.
"Where do you think you're going?" I called after her.
"I can't just stand here doing nothing when I could be out there saving my dad."
"Stop right there!" I ordered.
"You're not my father or sensei! Why should I listen to you?" She asked while walking out of the dojo. I sprinted after and easily stepped in front of her, making her stop in her tracks.
"You will listen to me young lady. It is dangerous for you to get into a fight you know nothing about. That's what gets you killed out there!" I yelled.
"It's better to die fighting for something you love then to cower in the dark doing nothing." She glared.
"Sensei?" I looked over and saw my sons and Ms. O'Neil looking at Autumn and I with worry in their eyes.
"Besides everything you have to protect is right here while I have a father to save and there is no way I am going to stand around here doing nothing. Now move out of my way!" She ordered. This was the breaking point for my patience. Rising to my full height I looked down at her.
"I will not be talked to in that way in my own home. You think you can defend yourself out there with just your father taught you? Come to the dojo I will show you how much you have to learn." Without batting an eye Autumn moved right behind me. "Come my sons, Ms. O'Neil. I have a lesson to teach you."
POV: Leonardo
"Sit down on the sidelines." Sensei told us while he walked to the center of the dojo, he looked at Autumn and gestured for her to join him there. She did without her eyes wavering form his. I would give her this much, she didn't back down from a challenge.
"This lesson my students will show you when you should listen to your elders." Master Splinter, to put it plain and simple was ticked off. It had been a while since he was that mad. Sensei and Autumn bowed to each other and before the brat had a chance to think about it Master Splinter was already into her space and punched her in the stomach sending her falling backwards. Before she could recover Splinter was right there and had her pinned before we could blink, with his cane pressed up to neck. Autumn tried her hardest to get him off of her but she was caught and there was no way she was getting out of it.
"Do you yield?" Sensei asked. Autumn looked around her, trying to find a way out but she couldn't find one out, she did all she could, she nodded. Splinter got off of her and held out his hand for her to take it but she pushed his away and pushed herself up.
"I was going easy on you and yet you couldn't even defend yourself. What do you expect to happen if you got into a real fight with someone who had the intent to kill? You would be dead before you could draw your weapon." He told her. The anger was gone from his voice and body but he was trying to make a strong point to not just her but to all of us.
She tried to punch him in the gut while he was side tracked but Sensei must have sensed it coming because he slide back ward and flicked his tail out in front of her face which sent her falling face first into the floor.
"Do you not understand young one? You are not ready to fight anyone yet. But with my help you will be." He told her. She turned on her back and glared up at Sensei.
"I don't have time to learn! I need to get out there and help my dad now!" She yelled while she pushed herself back up. Just by looking at her you could tell that she bruised something, she tried to hide it but she doing a horrible job.
"I understand how you feel. I truly do but I promised your father back before you were even born that I would protect you with my life and I intend to do just that." He told her. She glared up at him but finally she looked away with a sigh on her lips.
"Fine Whiskers, I understand. A Hamato always keep their word." She told Sensei while bowing to him respectfully. He did the same to her.
"You may go sit next to Ms. O'Neil, you both will be trained at the same pace and if you prove to be a fast learner I will upgrade you to practicing with the boys, sound fair?" He asked. She smirked up at him and nodded.
"Do I have much of a choice?"
"Not really." He chuckled. Autumn did as she was told and went to sit next to April while he called my brothers and I to the floor. The training session went fairly quickly considering how the first part of it started. Looking over I watched as Master Splinter taught both girls how to do certain simple moves, some Autumn already knew and did flawlessly but others she was a complete klutz.
After we were told we were dismissed I stayed until everyone else had left and it was just me and Sensei.
"Leonardo?"
"Sensei, why were so tough on Autumn, you didn't hold back at all. I don't even think I could have blocked myself if I was in her position." I told him. He sighed and looked down at the floor.
"Honestly Leonardo if I wasn't hard on her I think that she would have let all the anger she was feeling take over and had gone something stupid and dangerous. And I could not let that happen. I gave my word to my brother." He explained.
"I understand Sensei." I told him as I left the dojo. Turning the corner I saw Mikey and Autumn talking in front of the pin ball machine.
"…I am sorry for the way I treated you Michelangelo, I didn't mean to hurt you if I did." I heard Autumn say. Mikey's eyes lit up and a smile broke out across his face. Reaching out he hugged Autumn and spawn her around.
"I forgive you!" He cheered while putting her feet back on the floor. Her long hair was all over face from the hug she just got and she started to laugh.
"No more of that Michelangelo stuff, my friends and family call me Mikey, okay?" He asked, still beaming at her. For the first time since meeting her I see a soft smile appear on her face.
"Okay Mikey."
"Oh yeah you need to properly meet my brothers! Come on!" He cheered. Mikey looked around and the person he saw happened to be me. Grabbing on to Autumn's hand he pulled her over to me. "Leo this is Autumn. Autumn is Leonardo but everyone calls him Leo, he's the leader of our group."
"Nice you meet you Leo." She smiled, putting her hand out for me to take it. Taking her hand in mine I shook it and smiled back at her.
"It's nice to finally meet you too." Before we could share any other words Mikey pulled her onto the next person that he saw. I watched from where I stood as he introduced her to everyone. April and her hit it right off I could tell and Donnie was awkward but friendly none the less. The main brother I was worried about was the one in red.
"Raphael is the residential hot head of the house." Mikey joked. Raph growled from his spot on the couch as he kept his nose in the bike magazine he was reading. Mikey playfully pulled it down and smiled. "Come on Raph, everyone else met Autumn. Now it's your turn."
"We already met the other night." He told him.
"Yes we did. And I must say that your charming personality never changes." Autumn smirked. I chuckled at her little joke but Raph thought it was anything but funny, I could tell from the look on his face. The hot head went back to reading but not before he mumbled under his breath, it was so quiet I couldn't even hear him.
"What was that hot head?" Autumn asked. Mikey looked back between the two of them, looking rather nervous.
"I said I would rather be a hot head then a brat." He growled glaring up at her. Autumn glared back and crossed her arms. I could tell that this wasn't going to be pretty.
"Oh yeah well you know what I would rather say that I'm a brat then have your bad attitude."
"Bad Attitude?! If anyone had a bad attitude it's you princess!" Raph yelled. He threw what he was reading to the ground and got into her face which wasn't that hard considering they were both the same height with her being just an inch taller if that. She glared back at him, arms still crossed.
"Are you always this nice to people or am I just lucky." She asked, her voice dripping in sarcasm. I was about to step in to stop the fight that seemed like was about to break out but thankfully Mikey was there to stop them for me. He pushed his way in between the two and pulled Autumn away from Raph just as his face started to change into the same color as his mask.
"Come on Autumn, I'll show you my comic book collection!" Mikey told her with his usual enthusiasm. She smiled and agreed to it. Looking back to Raph I watched as he watched Autumn leave the room and for a split second I could have sworn that a look of regret passed over his face. Before I could call out to him he got up and headed to his room and slammed his door shut.
"Well that could have ended better." Donnie spoke up.
"Yeah you got that right." I added.
"I think it want fine considering everything." April told us from her spot beside Donnie.
"What are you talking about April?" Donnie asked. I sat down on the other side of her, waiting for her to explain. She looked between the two of us and laughed before she stood up and headed towards the kitchen.
"Neither of you would understand even if I try to explain." She told us.
"Why's that?" I called after her. She stopped and looked back at us still smiling.
"It's a girl thing. Guys just don't get it." Donnie and I both looked at each other more confused than ever but we both simply shrugged our shoulders in defeat and just left things as it was…for the time being.
