Yami.

Unrecognizable voices that seemed to be speaking from miles away, but at the same time, it was like the words were being whispered right into his ear.

Yami,

Yami.

Images flashed before him blurrily like an old movie; nothing was clear.

Blood, screaming, tears.

Tears…someone was crying, and it made his heart break. At least, he thought it was his heart; it felt like someone was taking his chest and just squeezing it, trying to break him.

"You can't die."

The voice made him jump in surprise; it was in pain. Where was it coming from? He wanted to run to it, tell the person that he would be all right, that everything would be all right, but it felt like there was a lead weight attached to his legs that kept him from moving.

"Yami!"

"We can unmake you!"

"They can cut out his name."

"You can't leave me now that I have finally found you."

He felt like he was swimming in thick honey; he couldn't move and it felt like he was choking.

"Yami…I love you."

Yami…who Yami? This mysterious name that he kept hearing.

Yami…

Yami.

He felt that with every call of that name, he was being drawn forward. He felt like they were calling him.

But that was impossible… His name wasn't Yami.

Yami

"I will always remember you, Yami."

It's time to wake up, Yami.

It's time to start a new game.

Suddenly, he awoke with a start. The darkness that shrouded him was torn away like someone ripping away a curtain to let the light in. And the light was harsh and far too bright. He squinted and made a displeased noise when he inhaled the unpleasant smell of antiseptic and floor polish.

He was in a white room, completely white, he could tell that much. There was an annoying beeping that came from his left that made his pulsing headache even worse. Everything else was blurred; it felt like he was being held under water.

Where was he? What was he doing here? And why wasn't anything making sense?

He blinked a few times and he could swear that he made out men in white coats with white clipboards in their hands. He didn't notice this earlier probably because they blended in with everything else around him.

Was he in a hospital? Why? He felt perfectly fine.

"Welcome back to the land of the living, Atemu Ishigami."
