CHAPTER 6

Read Chapter 5

The bench at the park in front of the building where Sandra lived was cold, there were only a few lights on in the surrounding buildings, and many were offices. The bright light of a huge LED screen on top of a skyscraper illuminated Moo Kyul's pensive face. Frowning, the boy could not stop thinking about that strange face. After a few minutes, he got up and left.

- Hey - A soft, familiar voice woke the girl from a deep sleep the next morning.

- What? What's up? - asked the girl with sleepy, unopened eyes.

- Sandra! -

- Who ...? Greg?! - She opened her eyes in surprise - What are you doing here? -

- I arrived yesterday - the boy replied with a smile – Get up, come to breakfast with me, - the boy left the room and went towards the kitchen.

Sandra felt dizzy, she had a headache and did not remember anything, not even know how she got home.

The guy had prepared a delicious breakfast for two, the sounds from Sandra's stomach made him laugh out loud when she came to sit at the table.

- It smells delicious – she exclaimed excitedly.

- Well then eat - he said, indicating plate with his hand.

- Mmmmm! It not only smells delicious, it is delicious - the girl stated, as she savored the food- Are you going to tell me what brings you here? -

- Business -

- Wait- mused the girl - How did you get here? How do you know where I live? I did not tell anyone my address, not even mom knows -

- I called Lee, your friend from the bar -

Sandra looked thoughtful for a moment.

- You went to Lee's bar to find me? -

- Well, I ... -

- So that's how I got – she mused aloud - You brought me? -

The boy remembered the scene for a few seconds last night when Moo Kyul opened the door, it was clear that Sandra did not remember anything. He replied with a grin. And the girl mistakenly interpreted it as a "yes."

– Seo Joon -

- Yes, Mae Ri? -

- Ehhh ... - the girl hesitated.

- What? - asked the actress turning to her and setting aside the papers she was reviewing.

- The producer ... -

- Sandra? What do you want to know about her? - Seo Joon interrupted. The silence of the girl made it clear that that was what she wanted to ask - Sandra is Korean American, heir to her father's company, she used to lead a band - she explained - Anything else? -

- It's just that yesterday ... -

You want to know why Moo Kyul reacted that way? – asked the actress and Mae Ri nodded sheepishly - I have the impression that she is not interested in Moo Kyul and he does not like that, is that what you wanted to know? -

- I ... -

- Do not tell me you're now seeing Moo Kyul as you did before - referring to the relationship they had years ago - You are married to Jung In, don't you remember? -

The girl was embarrassed, she quickly quietly left the office of the, now, director of the new drama.

Seo Joon stood watching until she crossed the door, she got up and went to make a cup of coffee, it was early in the morning.

She just sat back down at her desk when Jung In came in, he needed to talk to her and agree to schedule another meeting, but he was puzzled by his wife's attitude when they crossed paths outside the director's office, she did not even notice that he had passed by.

- What happened to Mae Ri? - asked the director.

- I do not know, I think she remembered something urgent had to do - the girl said, feigning ignorance.

- Ok. Well, let's schedule a new meeting time. Do you think this time Moo Kyul will agree? -

- I'll talk to him - replied the girl. Jung In remained standing at her desk waiting – Now? – she asked in front of the fixed gaze of the director. He nodded.

She took her cell phone and called Moo Kyul.

- Whaat? - answered a lethargic and sleepy voice.

- Moo Kyul? I need to talk to you. -

- Whaaaaaaaat? -

- I'm scheduling a new meeting with... -

- Ok, when is it? – he interrupted.

- Ehmm - his response surprised the girl. – Early tomorrow morning -

- Yeah, yeah - the guy answered and hung up the call.

Seo Joon was surprised, she thought he would be harder to convince. She informed Jung In and started to make some calls to coordinate the next meeting.

- Who was that? -

- Seo Joon, the director of the drama that I'm producing, she told me that there is a meeting early tomorrow morning - Sandra replied.

- Aaah - The boy thought for a moment.

- What is it? -

- Want to have lunch with me after your meeting? -

- Of course! -

- Now I must go, I have some business to attend to before lunchtime -

- All right, see you tomorrow -

Greg said goodbye to Sandra and left. She still felt a little bad her drunkenness the night before.

She went to take a shower, with eyes closed as she enjoyed the warm water she began to remember, Moo Kyul had said words that were often repeated by people who believed her life was easy as a result of having a successful and wealthy father.

What few people knew was that it was far from reality; the girl's father was strict and thought that everyone should make money through their own efforts. He never made any differentiation between those who had worked with him, nor with Sandra, from a young girl she had to work as another employee, and she never received money from her father without giving something in return.

When she entered college, her studies were paid by her own salary, a little higher than that of a regular employee, but no less valid.

She used to deliver the mail in the offices of the company, served coffee and even addressed her father as President Park, while he was at work.

If she needed money to buy an album, eat out, hang-out, she had to work overtime.

She finished her college career with a good average, but she didn't want to go into practice with her father. Music was her passion, and that's when there was the big fight with him and the breakdown of their father-daughter relationship. She went alone to Boston and had to go on working in order to live and fulfill her dream.

Suddenly Moo Kyul's face came to mind; it seemed strange, like a dream, she remembered seeing him the night before but was not sure, at times the memory was very real.

She stayed home the rest of the day, she did not feel very well, she had never drunk to that extreme, and the headache from her hangover would not let her concentrate. She went to her room and lay down in bed; she was awake but with eyes closed.

After a couple of hours, the pain was lessening; to relax, she decided to put some music on, she got up and walked over to the cabinet where she had, neatly organized, all her CD's.

She was torn between Joe Satriani, Richie Kotzen and Steve Vai, she liked a lot of those musicians' instrumental guitar work.

She was about to choose Satriani, but sliding her finger over the discs she found Absolute Perfection, she pulled it out of place, looking at it for a few moments and Joe was forgotten. She could not help making that choice, since she had first heard it she had loved it, not understanding why they had not been successful when they were such a good band.

Ideas haunted her mind, but she knew they would be difficult to carry out, the personality of that guy was hard to take, but his talent was immense.

In the middle of the first song, the ringing of her cell phone interrupted her.

- Hello? -

- Darksaaaan - a cheerful voice answered on the line.

- Bae Yong?! - asked the surprised girl - Are you in Seoul? -

- Yes Darksan! I went to the bar with the guys and Lee told us that you're in Korea -

- Jae Hyun and Jin Ho are with you? -

- Yeah! Come drink with us! -

- I'll be right over - she responded enthusiastically, eager to see her best friends again.

The girl was very happy, she did not expect to meet the guys from her band, and it had been a long time since they had split after the death of her father. They had gone to try their luck in Japan, which was the last Sandra had heard from them.

When she arrived at the bar, she was greeted with lots of hugs, everyone was happy to see each other.

- So, a drama producer? - Bae Yong asked .

- Yes! It's something new, but interesting - she said smiling.

- Noona – said Jin Ho - And when will the Comeback be? -

- Comeback? You're crazy! I cannot go back to that -

- Why not noona? -

- My priorities are different now - she replied seriously to Jin Ho.

- Before your priority was rock - Bae Yong said sadly.

- Life changes guys, do not be discouraged. That does not mean I won't sing a song again someday - she smiled mischievously.

- Why don't you sing now - interrupted Lee, who had just arrived to where the boys were talking.

- Now? -

- Yeeeessss! – they all cried and nodded simultaneously.

- You guys are completely insane, no way - stated the girl as she shook her head.

- What are you afraid of? - asked a familiar voice behind Sandra.

- And who is this? - the guys were asking each other.

Sandra turned - Moo Kyul - The girl was shocked.

- I saw you sing once, but it was with my band ... -

- Did you sing with his band noona? - asked Jin Ho.

- It's a long story, I'll tell you later -

- Why don't you show how well you can do with your own band - His tone sounded defiant - I'd love to see you-

- I don't think I can –

- I admit, even though to me you're still a meddler, that time you did well -

- Wooo! THANKS! – she replied ironically.

- Really, I want to see you on stage, I want to be sure I can trust you -

- Who told you that I need you to trust me? - she laughed.

- I cannot work with someone I do not trust. -

- I see. You mean that if I go on stage now we will be able to work together without you throwing a tantrum? -

The boy smiled to himself for a few seconds while Sandra looked at him with arms crossed and the others watched expectantly.

- All right, if you go up to sing with your band now, we will work together without problems -

- Yessss! – the boys shouted in unison.

- Phoenix is back! - exclaimed Lee and he took the boys to the dressing room to try out instruments and play a few chords before climbing on stage.

Moo Kyul sat at the bar; after a few minutes Lee went on the stage and introduced the band, it was a surprise for those who were there, there was no show scheduled for the evening.

The first chords rang out, Hard Rock invaded the place, the strong and powerful voice of Sandra caught the attention of those present, and many called their friends to come to the bar. Slowly, word spread, and more people began to arrive.

Greg was walking around Hongdae, and he saw some guys running in the same direction, curious, he followed. When he got near the door of the venue he could hear her voice, Sandra's. Still unconvinced, , he went in; he was surprised to see the girl singing on stage.

He walked inside and leaned against a pillar, he began to look around, suddenly his eyes rested on the bar. He immediately recognized Moo Kyul, who smiled watching Sandra. He watched him in anger, he did not like that guy, he gave him a bad vibe.

When they finished the show and walked off stage, they went straight to the bar. Sandra extended her hand to Moo Kyul.

- We have a deal? - asked the girl.

The boy replied by shaking hands with Sandra and wore a slight smile on his face.

- Ok guys, tonight it's my treat, but, I will not drink -

- Why noona? - asked Jin Ho.

- Because last night I drank too much - answered the girl, this gave Moo Kyul the urge to speak of that matter, he wanted to apologize and ask how she had felt the next morning after such a binge.

- Speaking of yesterday ... -

- Do not worry Moo Kyul, nothing happened - she interrupted, the girl thought of what the singer had told her the previous afternoon.

- I need to talk to you, can we? -

- All right - answered the girl, and then she spoke to her friends –Guys, could you give us a few moments to talk? - they nodded without a word and left.

- Well ... Um ... I - the boy hesitated a little, Sandra could see a question on his face - I really want to apologize for how I treated you, I did not know ... -

- I told you not to worry, everyone tends to think that my life has been easy and that because I have a family with money I have been given everything like in fairy tale -

- But still, I want to apologize to you -

- Apology accepted - she smiled – Let's forget that, it's in the past and I hope that from now on we will get along -

The boy smiled sweetly, Sandra spoke of the meeting the next day, the expectations she had for the project; Moo Kyul looked at her carefully, he suddenly realized he was not really listening to what she was saying. Incredibly, in his mind, he was realizing that this girl was captivating him, that she had always tried to help him. It had been a long time that he had not had someone who cared about him so, not since his relationship with Mae Ri.

But this girl was different, she loved what he did, music, rock, it was in her veins, it was her essence. She was a strong woman of great character, she wasn't afraid of anything, she faced things, she was determined.

Gradually, as the girl spoke, gesture after gesture, he felt more and more captivated.

All of this was observed by Greg, he did not like this situation, it bothered him; he was thinking about what to do.

The guys in the band were also watching Sandra, they were curious to know where this rocker guy had come from.

Jae Hyun, the bassist of the band and the quietest one, noticed that Greg was watching her.

- Hyung – he asked Bae Yong – Is that guy there Greg? -

- Oh! Yes, it's him - he answered, and walked to where he was.

- Greg? - He touched his shoulder.

- Bae Yong! How are you? -

- When did you get here? Does Darksan know you're here? -

- Yes, she knows and I arrived yesterday ... Bae Yong, Do you know who that guy is with Sandra? -

- Umm, well, I believe that they're working together on that project that Darksan is producing -

- Mmm, I see - Greg kept watching the girl and her companion.

Lee was aware of everything going on, he moved around the bar and still watched everything, Sandra talking nonstop, the idiotic face of Moo Kyul while he followed her gestures with his gaze, Greg watching the scene leaning against a pillar and talking with Bae Yong . He was very observant, nothing would escape him; he knew from the girl 's mouth, the back story:

As is customary in Korea, Sandra's father agreed with unions made for convenience.

Gregory Liebermann, was Sandra's mother's nephew, the adoptive son of her brother. They were cousins, but not by blood. Park Shin Soo's wish was always for his daughter to marry Greg, because his father had a large company in Germany, his native country. The boy was born in that country, after his parents were married, but his adolescence was spent in the United States.

Greg and Sandra went to the same high school in New York, the boy had lived with them and Shin Soo loved him like a son. When he'd finished school he'd returned to Germany to go to college.

Their parents always did business together, one of those businesses was the merger plan between their family businesses through a marriage between Sandra and Gregory.

She had always refused such a proposition, she saw Greg as a brother, in her mind the possibility of joining him in that way did not fit. But the boy had a crush on her and was happy with the decision of his father, that plan was cut short by the fight between his uncle and Sandra.

He always kept hoping that she would reconsider, return to her home in New York and follow Soo Shin's plan, but it all went down when he learned that the girl had gone to Korea with her band and then even more with the death of her father.

Sandra got up to go to the bathroom, Moo Kyul was left alone for a moment, Lee approached him.

- Moo Kyul -

- Eh? - The singer never took his gaze from the figure of Sandra that was lost in the crowd.

- Kang Moo Kyul - He shouted.

- What? - he answered annoyed with Lee.

- Change that idiotic face or Darksan will notice -

- What? What face? Notice what? -

- That you like her - Lee replied with a mischievous smile on his face.

- Like her? - the boy frowned.

- Don't play dumb, a little more and you'll be drooling on her -

- HA HA! You're crazy -

Lee laughed watching Moo Kyul's reaction. The boy refused absolutely, but you could see it in his eyes, he liked Sandra.

Greg was waiting for her to get out of the bathroom to address her, he was not going to let her continue her conversation with the rocker.

When he saw her walk out, he walked quickly toward her.

- Look Moo Kyul - Lee said - There's your "competition " - he pointed to Greg.

- Who is that? -

Meanwhile, Greg had reached Sandra. He took her arm surprising her.

- Hello again – he greeted her.

- Greg, what are you doing here? -

- I was walking around the neighborhood and came to this place for a drink, I just saw you. What do you say we go to a more relaxing spot? -

- Um, I'm not alone, I'm with the guys in the band and with ... -

- I just arrived yesterday – he interrupted - And I want to spend some time together before we both start with our work, then we will not have time -

- We will, do not worry, for now I'm busy, I have to finish talking to someone -

Lee and Moo Kyul were watching this scene, Greg would not let the girl's arm go, the rocker rose from his seat, but Lee beat him to it.

- Hi Greg, long time no see. When did you arrive? Why didn't you come sooner? -

- How are you Lee, good to see you- He got a little nervous –Sandra, let's go ok? - he begged.

- Wait a minute- said the girl, breaking free of his hand -What do you mean you haven't come to the bar? You took me home last night right? -

- So you were that drunk that you don't remember? - asked Lee- Last night you went with Moo Kyul, not Greg - he told her.

- What? – she asked in surprise. Then she turned to Greg - Why did you lie to me? -

- Come on and I'll explain, but elsewhere ok? - he retook her arm firmly.

- NO! Let me go! -

- Let's go Sandra – he insisted, pulling her along.

- I'm not going with you, do not insist- The girl was trying to break free but she could not escape.

- LET HER GO! - Moo Kyul said firmly.
