RWBY Night Out

Three: Attention getting.

"Hey Blake," Yang hurried to keep up with the black haired woman, "I was wondering, would you like to grab some lunch together?"

"I'm busy," lake shook her head, carrying her usual pile of books. "We have tests to study for, remember?" she reminded her.

"It doesn't mean you can't..." Blake started, the attractive blond smiling engagingly.

"BUSY, Yang," Blake nearly growled as she stomped off.

Yang sighed. I mean, YES they were busy with the exams and the upcoming school festival, but still, they should have some time...

"Shot down again?" Weiss noted sympathetically. The white haired girl had been watching with some amusement, as she kept pace with them.

"Yeah," Yang sounded frustrated. "I thought she liked me, after we all went to that bar together, but now she's all cold again."

Weiss wasn't sure about that. In fact from the looks Blake gave Yang, she suspected she was playing hard to get. But why tho? "Well, she is a Faunus," she noted thoughtfully, "maybe there's a different courting thing going on?"

Yang paused as that thought settled in. "Damn, I hadn't thought of that," then without another word rushed off.

Weiss blinked as she watched her hurry off. "Does anyone else have a terrible feeling of foreboding?" she wondered aloud.

"Yes?" Jaune Arc offered, having overheard a bit as he shrugged and added, "But I always get that, so..."

Meanwhile, Yang hit the library, but was rather confounded by all the titles. There were a LOT of books on Faunus, but nothing that seemed to fit what she was looking for. And honestly, she wasn't the type to usually look stuff up.

Glinda Goodwitch frowned as Yang rushed about the library. "Young lady, WHAT are you doing?" she finally demanded.

Yang flushed a bit, embarrassed. "Uhm, I was trying to find something on Faunus and... uhm, their mating practices."

Glinda raised one eyebrow, her glasses gleaming. "Well, there are several tomes on the subject... several of which with illustrations. They're quite popular with male students."

"Huh?" Yang blinked.

Glinda looked amused as she continued, "I'm not a expert, but they usually begin with a courtship display."

"Courtship display?" Yang echoed.

Glinda nodded, "A lot of the decision to chose a mate comes from how impressive and stunning the courtship display is. Traditionally they are..."

"Thanks, I think I got it," Yang grinned as she hurried off, "gotta go!"

Glinda watched her hurry off. "I have a BAD feeling about this..." she muttered.

Yang returned to their dorm room, grabbed Weiss and Ruby and explained her idea. "That's insane," Weiss said flatly.

"I think it's great!" Ruby beamed.

Weiss ran a hand over her face. If Ruby agreed, it meant they WOULD end up doing what Yang wanted. Yes, she'd argue and resist, but she would find herself going along eventually. It was like Ruby had some kind of uncanny power!

"PLEASE, Weiss?" Ruby asked, looking up at her with big, catlike eyes.

"Argh," Weiss sighed then nodded, "Yes, I'll help." She looked at Yang, "We're going to need more help, though."

"Probably," Yang frowned then smiled slightly, "Let's ask Jaune and the others..."

Blake Belladona was feeling just a BIT guilty about blowing Yang off like that. I mean, yes she was busy studying, but still... And even odder, she had been avoiding her the last few days. And now asking her to come to the hall for the opening of the school festival? It was very strange.

Professor Ozpin looked distinctly amused as the white haired man took the stage. "Welcome to our annual school festival, everyone," he beamed, "I hope everyone has a lovely time."

'So far, nothing unusual...,' Blake thought, wondering where Yang was.

"For the opening, we have a volunteer special performance from Teams RWBY and JNPR!" Ozpin grinned.

"Ack," Blake yelped.

Yang strode out carrying the mic as the rest of the two teams hurried out with instruments. Nora, unsurprisingly, was on drums while Lie Ren was playing a set of pipes. Jaune was on keyboards, Pyrrha has dancing with a tambourine and BOTH Weiss and Ruby were playing guitars.

"Blake, this is for you!" Yang called grinning as the music started.

'Oh lords,' Blake tried to sink into her seat as EVERYONE looked at her, then Yang began to dance and sing.

"Dream of anything
I'll make it all come true
Everything you need
Is all i have for you
I'm forever
Always by your side
Whenever you need a friend
Never far behind

If the stars all fall
When there's no more light
And the moon should crumble
It will be alright"

'She's not bad at all,' Blake thought as she listened. And she danced very well. It was... honestly kind of sexy, seeing her dancing around in short shorts and that bustier.

"Don't you worry about the dark
I will light up the night with the love in my heart
I will burn like the sun i will keep you safe and warm
Like the smell of a rose on a summer's day
I will be there to take all your fears away
With a touch of my hand i will turn your life to gold"

The band finished and Yang grinned as she breathlessly added, "Blake, I hope you'll consider saying yes next time!"

Blake hurried from her seat, hurrying down to the back stage where everyone was packing up the musical instruments. "YANG," she growled out.

"Uh oh," Weiss said, grabbing Ruby and getting clear... while lingering near enough to hear what was happening.

"You know, I really was busy," Blake scowled at her, "we have EXAMS soon, you idiot."

"Well, yeah, but..." Yang looked sheepish. "So, how was that for a display?" she asked rather desperately.

Surprisingly Blake stepped closer, so they were face to face. "Still," she murmured as she ran a finger along Yang's collar, "That WAS a nice song."

Yang blushed, not used to Blake being this aggressive. "Uh, yeah...," she started.

"So when do we get married?" Blake nibbled her ear. As Yang gaped at her, stunned, she continued, "You DID know that's the next part of courtship, right?"

"Eeep," Yang managed.

"See you back at the dorm," Blake added as she sauntered off.

"You are SO doomed," Weiss noted. "But in a good way."

Blake smirked as she strode away. She was pretty sure someone had misinformed Yang about her people, but that was alright. She would have some fun teasing her awhile. Besides... she really HAD been pretty sexy on stage.

To be continued...?

Notes: Yeah, shorter than I hoped. Anyway, the song is, of course, Gold from the RWBY soundtrack. While the song is apparently Yang singing to Ruby, it occurred to me it could ALSO be read as a love song. So...
