Chapter 25: The Morning After

A stream of sunlight came through the window in Rae's bedroom closet, illuminating her face. She slowly opened her eyes, allowing them time to adjust. Feeling the weight of an arm around her waist she looked over her shoulder. At some point during the night they had shifted and Olivia was now spooning her from behind. She turned over in her arms so that they were facing each other. She laid there quietly and watched Olivia sleep. Rae smiled thinking about everything that happened between the two of them. It's a good thing she wasn't an outwardly emotional person, otherwise she'd probably scare Olivia away. She felt so many things: relief, excitement, anxiousness, happiness, the list could go on and on. One thing was for sure, the way Olivia had made her feel; she wanted that feeling again and again. Waking up in her arms felt just as amazing. Everything was just right. The faint sound of a phone ringing caught her attention. It was the ringtone she'd assigned to Ashley after the mix up with her and Olivia. She ignored it not wanting to risk getting up and waking Olivia. The ringing stopped and then started again a moment later. Olivia stirred before opening her eyes.

"Your phone's ringing", she whispered seeing that Rae was already awake. Rae didn't say anything. She looked into Olivia's eyes for a moment before getting up and heading into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. Olivia turned over, sat up on her elbows, and stared at the bathroom door. She was confused by Rae's sudden departure from the bed. She heard the water running and tried not panic as she thought about what Rae might be feeling. Rae stood in front of the mirror and looked at herself. Something about her looked different or maybe it was just that she felt different. Looking at her reflection, she saw a bit of red on her leg. She looked down and saw that there was blood on her inner thigh that had dried overnight. There wasn't much so it was barely noticeable. She grabbed a towel and cleaned herself up, hoping that it hadn't gotten on the sheets. Then, she picked up her tooth brush and brushed her teeth. She had no second thoughts about her and Olivia being together. She just hoped that after she told Olivia the truth that she would feel the same too.

Olivia heard the water shut off and a moment later the door opened and Rae appeared. She stared at her as she stood in the doorway of the bathroom completely naked. Her hair cascaded over her shoulders, partially covering her breasts and her skin glowed from the sunlight filtering in through the closet. Rae walked around to the side of the bed she'd gotten up from and crawled on, sitting up on her knees beside Olivia.

"Hi" she said softly smiling at Olivia.

"Hi." Olivia sat up letting the blanket that had covered her fall into her lap. "What's wrong?" she asked nervously.

"Nothings wrong, I just..." She looked down and scanned the sheets and didn't see anything that would give her away before she could tell Liv herself. "I just don't talk before I've brushed my teeth" she said laughing. "It's something my dad used to do. I guess I just picked up the habit. Is that weird?" Rae asked feeling slightly self-conscious. Olivia let out a relieved sigh. She thought for a moment that Araeyah regretted what happened between them. "No. It's...different" she said with a slight laugh. The sound of Rae's phone ringing came into the bedroom again. "You gonna get that?" Olivia asked.

"It's just Ashley. I'll call her back later." Rae said waving off the phone call. Olivia's face changed at the mention of Ashley's name. She remembered when she called Rae last Saturday night and she had answered her phone talking to an Ashley. Rae noticed the change in Olivia's features. "Hey. Ashley is just a friend. There's nothing between us."

"Is she the one I saw leaving here when I came over? The one you kissed?" Rae nodded. "She's the girlfriend you had when you first moved here isn't she?" Olivia asked jealously. Rae sighed, "Yeah, she is." She didn't want Olivia to think she was playing her. She realized she never really explained the situation Olivia saw outside her apartment that day or the phone call that Rae answered calling Ashley babe. "She's pretty." Olivia said.

"Olivia, we're just friends" Rae repeated. "You kiss and call all your friends babe?" Olivia said in a biting tone. Rae felt the jealously coming off of her...her..."What is she?" Rae thought to herself realizing that they hadn't exactly talked about what they'd call each other. "No. I don't but Ashley...is..." Rae trailed off thinking about the right way to explain things.

"Special" Olivia said finishing her sentence. "No, not special. Just...different. I already told you we dated for a few months when I first moved here. We just had this way of doing things and talking to each other that never really changed...even after we broke up." Rae could see that her explanation hadn't helped the way Olivia felt. She scooted closer to Olivia and put her hands on either side of Olivia's face, forcing her to look at her. "I promise, there is nothing between us. Ashley is my friend...that's it. I only want you." Rae waited for some clue that Liv believed her. She let out a relieved sigh when Olivia finally nodded and gave her a soft smile. She brought their lips together in a sweet kiss.

When their kiss ended, she rested her forehead on Olivia's as Olivia ran her fingers up and down Araeyah's bare sides. Rae closed her eyes, taking in Olivia's touch, thinking about their passion filled night...or technically morning. She wanted to ask Olivia a question but she felt embarrassed for having to ask. Then she remembered the terms she'd given Liv. "If you want to know something, ask me." She had to hold herself to the same rules. She inhaled deeply and pulled their foreheads apart. "Liv, can I ask you something?" she asked nervously.

"Of course. You can ask me anything." Olivia pushed Rae's hair back behind her ear and waited to hear her question. "Did you really..." Rae paused thinking of how best to frame the question. "Ummm...you really...I mean last night when we were..." she sighed loudly and put her face in her hands. "Just ask me" Olivia said with a little chuckle. Rae took another deep breath, "Was I really good? Last night I mean. Was I really good enough for you?" Olivia looked shocked by Rae's question. "Ugh, it's a stupid question. I shouldn't have asked" Rae said looking down at her hands.

"No. No, it's not a stupid question...I just...I thought I was pretty vocal about how good you were" Olivia said with a slight blush. Rae smiled at the light pink color that appeared on Olivia's cheeks. "Well yeah, you were" she said laughing, "but I just wanted to be sure that I did things...right". This time it was Rae that blushed. "It's just that I haven't had much...experience." Rae paused not knowing how Olivia would take what she said next. "I haven't really had...any experience."

"Well you could've fo..." Olivia stopped mid-sentence as Rae's word registered with her. "Wait. What do you mean you haven't had any experience?" Araeyah looked away nervously and confirmed that she meant what Olivia thought she meant. Olivia moved to sit on the edge of the bad and put her face in her hands, shaking her head. "Oh my god, you were a virgin" she whispered. Olivia felt so many things in that moment and she didn't know what to do with all of it. "Please don't freak out", Rae said crawling over to where Olivia sat on the bed. "Liv, I wanted to do this with you." She came up behind Olivia and wrapped her arms around her waist, placing kisses across her shoulders and at the base of her neck. The feeling of Araeyah's lips on her skin only made it harder for her to think. She pushed her away and stood up from the bed. She walked over and started to gather her clothes. "What are you doing?" Rae asked nervously.

"I need to go. I just...I need to think and I can't do that here with you" she said. Rae's stomach sank and she suddenly felt sick. She tried to keep her breathing steady and stay calm. She didn't know what she'd do if Olivia left her. She needed to say something to get Olivia to stay. "Liv, please don't go. I know I should've told you before. I'm sorry but...just please stay" Rae said hoping she wouldn't walk out on her. She didn't want to be like those people that got really emotional and clingy after losing their viginity but she couldn't help it. She wanted...needed Olivia to stay; to show her that she hadn't made a mistake. Olivia looked at Rae and saw an almost desperate look in her eyes. "I can't just leave her" she thought to herself. She dropped her clothes and sat back down on the edge of the bed. She ran her hands through her hair and let out a loud sigh. "Why didn't you tell me?" she whispered.

"Because I knew you wouldn't stay. I knew that you would think that you were doing me a favor by telling me to wait but I didn't want to" Rae moved around to Olivia's front and straddled her. "I didn't want to wait. This is what I wanted", she took Olivia's hand and put it between her legs, sliding her fingers through her wet folds and rubbing her clit. She moaned into Olivia's ear, "It's what I still want" she whispered as grinded into Olivia's hand. "Araeyah I..." Rae cut her off with a searing kiss. Olivia grabbed the back of her head with her free hand pulling her further into the kiss. Rae moaned into her mouth as felt two fingers enter her heat. She moved up and down on Olivia's hand, not once breaking their kiss. Olivia curled her fingers and hit Rae's g spot causing her to throw her head back and moan a loud. The site of Rae moving up and down in her lap was almost enough on its own to bring Olivia to orgasm. "Mhmmm..." Rae moaned at she continued to ride Olivia's fingers. She sat forward, wrapping her arms around Olivia's neck and putting her mouth next to her ear. She wanted her to hear exactly how she made her feel. Olivia curled her fingers again and Rae held on tighter. "Oh god" she breathed into Olivia ear. "Mhnmmm...you feel so good...", she said pausing to lick the length of Olivia's ear. "So fucking good inside me" she finished in a breathless pant.

Olivia was so turned on by what Rae was whispering in her ear. She suddenly withdrew her fingers and wrapped her arms around Araeyah's waist, turning them over so that Rae was on her back and she was on her knees on the floor. She grabbed Rae's thigh and pulled, bringing her to the edge of the bed. Just a quickly as she removed her fingers, she inserted the again. "Shit" Rae yelled in surprise as Olivia reinserted her fingers and began to thrust in and out of her. She grabbed hold of the sheets on either side of her body and held on tight. Olivia took Rae's clit into her mouth and began to suck as she continued thrusting with her fingers. "Fuck! Oh fuck! Ohhh my goodddd!" Rae screamed. Olivia twisted her fingers each time she entered Rae adding to her pleasure. She felt her tighten around her fingers and she curled them, hitting the spot that drove Rae wild, and flicked her tongue over her clit. Rae tensed and screamed Olivia's name as she hit her climax. Once she relaxed, Olivia kissed her way up Rae's body until she reached her mouth. Rae moaned at the taste of herself on Olivia's lips. They went at each other for another two hours before finally giving in to exhaustion. They fell asleep tangled up in the sheets.

Rae woke up a couple of hours later to the sound of her phone ringing. She looked at the clock on her bedside table. It was just past five o'clock in the evening. She looked up and saw that Olivia was still sound asleep. She moved cautiously, not wanting to wake her lover, and got up from the bed. She grabbed Olivia's shirt and put it on fastening the first few buttons, hurrying into the front room. She slowed a bit, feeling pain between her legs. "Ow, jeez" she thought, "Why does it hurt so much?" She made a mental note not to tell Olivia about her pain. She didn't want to make her feel any worse about deflowering her. She picked up the clutch that she'd dropped in the entryway and pulled out her phone.

"Hey Ashley" she said into the speaker knowing it was her from the ringtone.

"Where the hell have you been!? I've been calling you all day!" Ashley yelled into the phone. She sounded pissed.

"I'm sorry. I've just been in bed all day." Rae said. Technically she wasn't lying. She had been in bed all day, she just hadn't been sleeping the whole time.

"You're such a bitch. You were supposed to call me this morning." Rae walked over to the couch and slowly sat down as she listened to Ashley rant. "I called you a million times. I thought something happened to you. I was about to call the cops!"

"I know, ok. I know" Rae said trying to keep it down so she wouldn't wake Olivia. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

The sound of Rae's voice coming from the living room woke Olivia. She got up and wrapped herself in the bedsheet before walking towards the bedroom opening. She was about to walk through the curtain but stopped when she heard who Rae was talking to. "Ashley, don't be ridiculous. Of course I want to see you." Olivia wanted to walk out and sit next to Rae while she talked on the phone but she couldn't bring herself to move her feet. "I know that. I...I wasn't avoiding your phone calls I just..."

"Are you hanging out with Maureen? Is that why you don't want to see me?" Ashley had asked Rae if she wanted to meet for dinner but she told her she couldn't. Ashley proceeded to bombard her with questions, trying to figure out what Rae was up to. "No. That's not it", Rae said laughing, "and stop saying I don't wanna see you. I do."

"Well then come meet me for dinner" Ashley said. Rae rolled her eyes and laughed. "Ashley, I told you..."

"Yeah, yeah. You already have plans. I better hear all about these plans that are so important that you can't meet your best friend for dinner, after almost giving her a heart attack I might add, when I see your beautiful face at school tomorrow. I'll even bring the coffee."

"Have I told you how much I love you lately?" Rae said smiling. Oliva's heart skipped a beat when she heard Rae tell Ashley she loved her. She took a deep breath and walked through the curtain into the living room. Rae looked up and gave her a warm smile. The smile she gave back must not have been the same because Rae gave her a confused look as she finished her call with Ashley. "Yeah, ok. I will see you at school tomorrow. Bye." She hung up and put her phone on the table then looked at Olivia.

"I'm sorry. Was I too loud?" she asked as Olivia sat down next to her on the couch. "No." Olivia said simply. She wasn't sure how to ask Rae about her phone call without sounding too jealous or like she'd been eavesdropping. "Who was that on the phone?"

"Oh it was Ashley. She was mad that I didn't call her to let her know I made it home ok." Olivia waited for her to explain the rest of the conversation. "What?" Rae asked noticing Olivia's look of anticipation. "You should go if you want to go. I can leave."

"Uh. What are you talking about? Go where?" Rae was confused by Liv's statement. She didn't understand why she thought she should be leaving. "You said you wanted to see her so you sh..."

"Olivia stop", Rae said cutting her off before she could finish. She was trying to be understanding but Olivia's jealousy was really starting to frustrate her. "I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you heard all of that, which means that you knew exactly who I was talking to when you asked me. What, where you testing me? Trying to see if I'd lie to you? What do I have to do to make you believe me when I say that Ashley and I are just friends?"

"You love her?" Olivia asked quietly.

"Yeah, I do. So what. I love Maureen too." Rae said angrily. This jealous crap was getting really old, really fast.

"That's not the same thing." Olivia wasn't even remotely threatened by Rae and Maureen's friendship.

"Why not? Maureen and I are friends same as Ashley and I are friends."

"You've never slept with Maureen", Olivia pointed out.

"Well, I've never slept with Ashley either" Rae said reminding Olivia that she was a virgin before last night. "I love my friends. Ashley happens to be one of them. That's not gonna change. You're going to have to find some way of dealing with this ridiculous jealousy you have because I'm not going to stop talking to her. I'm here with you. I want to be with you. You have to trust me."

Olivia did feel ridiculous about her jealousy. Rae hadn't really done anything to warrant these feelings but they were there. She wasn't sure how to make them go away. "I just...you can have anyone you want and I know how people look at you. I know because it's the same way I looked at you when we first met. People want you, Araeyah. A lot of people want to be with you and you can have your pick of any one of them?"

"I don't want my pick of anyone. I want you." Olivia could see that Rae meant what she was saying. She smiled and shook her head. "I know I'm being ridiculous. I'm sorry. I'll get over this whole thing. I promise." Rae scooted closer to Olivia on the couch and kissed her. "Good. Now can we pleease go out for dinner because I'm starving." Olivia laughed and gave a her a few more pecks on the lips before standing, pulling Rae up with her and walking to the bedroom.
