Chapter 53: Three Days
Jimmy continued to do well and by Thursday night, Rae was taking him home. Even though Jimmy insisted she didn't have to, she was taking him back to her apartment. There was no way she was she sending him back to their parent's house. A couple of hours after the doctors let her in to see Jimmy she called and told her parents that he was in the hospital. Her mother came to see him but Charles, of course, didn't bother to stop by. Rae decided she was officially done with him. She didn't want to see him or talk to him or even be in same building. She didn't want anything to do with him. It made her mother sad, but she accepted Rae's decision without argument. Deep down Soraya knew that Charles was wrong but she wouldn't ever say anything to him. Rae didn't understand how she could be with someone like him but it wasn't her life. Soraya also didn't argue when Rae told her that Jimmy was going to stay with her. She talked to the doctor to make sure he was going to be ok. Rae and Olivia went to meet Rae's aunt as promised while Soraya spent her time with Jimmy. When Rae got back, Soraya said her goodbyes and left Jimmy's room. On her way out of the hospital, she stopped to talk to Olivia who was still sitting in the waiting room. Olivia stood up when she saw Rae's mother approaching her.
"Mrs. Caston" she said greeting her when she stopped in front of her.
"I've already told you, please, call me Soraya" she said. "I hope I didn't misstep when I spoke to you at the party yesterday. I'm only trying, for once, to look out for my daughter's best interests" she said quietly.
"I understand. You love your daughter. You want to give her back what you took from her" Olivia said. Soraya nodded, "I do. I hope you'll make your decision with Araeyah in mind". She turned and walked away just in time to get on the elevator with some other people leaving the floor. She and Olivia stared at each other until the elevator doors closed and Soraya disappeared. A couple of minutes later, Rae walked into the waiting room pushing Jimmy in a wheelchair. He tried to get up, saying he didn't need a wheelchair, but Rae all but yelled at him to sit his ass back down. They took the elevator down together and Olivia went out to pull the car around while Rae and Jimmy waited. They helped him into the car and then took off to Rae's apartment.
Rae had moved her loveseat to other side of the coffee table and set up a bed for Jimmy. He felt like he was intruding and kept asking Rae to take him back home but she refused. She said he'd be staying with her until he was well enough to go to rehab. When he was done there, they'd figure something else out but she did not want him living with Charles. He eventually stopped arguing and let Rae have what she wanted. Olivia sat on the couch and watched as Rae took care of her brother, setting everything up for him, helping him into bed, cooking him dinner, getting him whatever he needed so that he was comfortable. She looked like a skilled parent, like she'd been doing this for years because she had. Olivia couldn't stop thinking about what Soraya said about this being Rae's chance to be a normal kid for the first time since her father's death. Yet she was allowing Rae to take of her son instead of stepping up and doing it herself and dragging her husband on board with her. Olivia didn't want to be apart of taking what was left of Rae's childhood away but she couldn't help but think that Rae would never be a kid again, no matter who was she dating. Then again, if there was a chance that she could be, it wouldn't happen with her in the way. She needed to figure out a way to start gradually distancing herself so that she could end things between them. It wouldn't be easy but she had to do it.
"Hey" Rae said pulling Olivia out of her thoughts, "you okay?" she asked. Olivia smiled and nodded. Rae leaned down and gave her a quick kiss before continuing to take care of Jimmy. She finally sat down on the couch with Olivia and they ate dinner and watched a movie on Netflix. When they were done, she took their plates and went to the kitchen to clean up. Olivia followed behind her to help.
"Where are you guys going?" Jimmy asked. Rae and Olivia had packed their bags earlier in the week to be ready for the cabin. Jimmy saw them sitting there by the door. "Oh, ummm, a group of us were gonna go up to this cabin, you know the one I told you about. We were gonna go for the weekend but we'll have to cancel" Rae said explaining the bags. "Why do you have to cancel?" Rae gave Jimmy a knowing look, "You don't need to cancel for me" he said. Rae looked at him again over her shoulder. "Well, you don't. Rae, my wrist is broken. I'm not an invalid. Go on your trip" he said getting out of the bed and sitting on the couch. Olivia and Rae finished in the kitchen and joined Jimmy on the couch. "I'm serious, Rae" he said flipping through netflix to pick another movie, "I don't want you to skip your trip for me. You're about to start college and working at the high school, plus you have the band and you're gonna be volunteering at the hospital. Your life is about to get crazier than it's ever been. This is your last hoorah and I don't want you to skip it on my account". He couldn't decide on a movie so he tossed the remote to Rae.
"I don't know, Jimmy" she said grabbing the remote, "what are you gonna do? You can't cook. Lord, knows you can't clean. You don't have a licence so you can't drive anywhere. Are you just gonna sit in the house and eat take out and watch tv all weekend?"
"Ummm, for one, I can cook...some things. I made you breakfast remember?" Rae nodded while still looking at the tv trying to decide on a movie. "Second, there won't be anything to clean because I won't make a mess. Plus, you have a dishwasher so that makes things easy. Third, I have friends with cars so I can get a ride". Rae's turned to look at Jimmy, "What friends?" she asked aggressively. "You know, just...some friends from school" he said nonchalantly. Rae turned off the tv and turned her entire body to face Jimmy.
"Don't bullshit me, Jimmy. What friends?" she asked again. Jimmy looked down at the floor and twiddled his thumbs. "James Mitchell Caston, answer me". Olivia got up from the couch and went into the bedroom to give them some privacy. "It's Cam...Bobby, Abby, Sophie...just friends from school" he said still looking at the floor. "So none of your drop out, drugged out buddies?" she asked. "No, Rae. Not them. Not after what they did to me the other night" he said sadly. "Just because of that? I thought you were ready to change, Jimmy. To do better. Focus on school, be more responsible, more respectful. I'm done with the drugs and the losers and the bullshit. I'm gonna go to school, get a job, make you proud, make my mom proud, make myself proud. That's what you said to me, James". Whenever Rae used Jimmy's real name, he knew she wasn't kidding around. He listened to what she was saying but wouldn't look at her. She saw that he was avoiding her gaze and she wanted to make sure that he knew how serious she was.
"Look at me Jimmy" she said. He hesitated for a moment before lifting his head and looking at her. "I don't want anyone in my apartment. I don't want drugs in my apartment. Respect me. Respect my space" she said in serious tone. "I want you to be true to your word and do everything you said you would. I talked to Jen and your spot in rehab is still open for you to start on Monday. You could have died the other night, Jimmy. Do you understand that? You could have died" she repeated.
"I know" he said simply. "I meant everything I said. I am gonna do better" he said.
"Prove it" she said challenging him. He looked at her and nodded his head, "I will" he said confidently. Rae was hesitant to leave Jimmy at her apartment alone for the weekend but she didn't want skip her chance at what would probably be the last vacation she'd have time for a while. She could stay and try to keep an eye on Jimmy but she couldn't keep him in her apartment all weekend. If he wanted to get high, he'd find a way to do it whether she stayed home or not so she decided she'd trust him, give him a chance to prove himself. "Fine. We're going but I will be calling to check in and you better answer every time" she said. "I will. I promise." Rae got up from the couch and gave the remote back to Jimmy before walking towards her bedroom.
"If you need to come in here for the bathroom knock first" she said over her shoulder.
"Knock on what? You don't have door" he called after her.
"Improvise" she yelled from inside her room. Jimmy shook his head and chuckled as he got back into bed and settled down to watch tv.
Olivia was already laying in bed when Rae walked into the bedroom. She took off her jeans, shirt and bra and changed into a t shirt before heading to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. Olivia heard Rae groan in the bathroom and sat up to see her staring at herself in the mirror. She couldn't think of anything that could possibly make Rae upset with her reflection. Rae forcefully let out a breath and walked out of the bathroom, flicking off the light as she left. She got in bed, laid down and pulled the covers over her with a huff.
"What's wrong with you?" Olivia asked amused by Rae's pouting.
"I'm so white" she whined. Olivia looked at her for a moment before bursting out laughing. "It's not funny" Rae said pulling a pillow from under her head to hit Olivia with it. "I'm sorry" she said trying to stop laughing. She scooted closer to Rae and put her arm over her waist, kissing her on the cheek. "Aw, don't be so sad about it. It's not permanent" she said seeing that Rae was still pouting. "I hate winter". Olivia chuckled and pulled Rae even closer to her, "Let me take your mind off that" she said seductively. She brought their lips together and put her hand under her shirt, squeezing her breast. She let her tongue slip into Rae's mouth when she parted her lips and let her hand travel south. She moved her kisses down her jaw and onto her neck, licking and sucking the sensitive spot behind her ear.
"Olivia" Rae moaned quietly, "Jimmy's right in the living room". Olivia put her hand between Rae's legs and slipped it into her underwear, dipping into her wet folds. "Well, then I guess you'll have to be quiet" she whispered in her ear. Her fingers started making circles around Rae's clit. She moaned quietly and let her knees fall apart. Rae's moans started to get louder so Olivia smothered them with her kisses. She let two fingers dip inside her and start a slow rhythm. "Olivia, I can't..." Rae panted. She couldn't get out what she was trying to say but Olivia got the message. She increased the pace of her fingers and covered Rae's mouth with her own. She curled her fingers and hit her g spot causing her to moan a bit louder.
"Don't worry. I'm not listening" Jimmy yelled from the living room. Olivia stopped abruptly and Rae's face blushed bright pink. She was so embarrassed that her brother could hear them. Olivia removed her hand from Rae's underwear and laid down next to her on her back, staring at the ceiling.
"Well, that's awkward" she said softly. Rae covered her face with hands. "I don't hear anything" he yelled again. Rae rolled her eyes, "Shut up, Jimmy" she yelled at him. Olivia laughed at how embarrassed Rae was. She playfully slapped Olivia on the shoulder. Olivia pulled Rae into her arms, "Aw, I'm sorry" she said still laughing. "No you're not. You like seeing me blush" she said laying her head on Olivia's shoulder. "I can't deny that I do. You're so cute when you're embarrassed" she said playing with Rae's hair. "Jerk" she said getting a light laugh from Olivia. She pulled the covers higher over them and they drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Olivia and Rae got up to get ready for the drive up to the cabin. It was about a three and half hour drive and they wanted to get there in a timely fashion. They only had three days and they wanted to make the most of them. These three days would be especially important to Olivia. She'd decided that after this weekend she would break things off with Rae. She didn't think she could handle slowly sabotaging their relationship. A clean break would be much easier for both of them. They showered together and were in Rae's room getting dressed when Jimmy knocked on the wall outside her bedroom. She laughed at him but didn't say anything. He knocked again and waited for Rae to say he could come in but she still didn't say anything.
"Come on, Rae. I know you can hear me" he called through the curtain. She laughed quietly and ignored him. Olivia shook her head at her girlfriend and continued to get dressed. "I can hear you laughing" he said. He waited for her to answer but she still said nothing. "Come on, Rae. Stop being a jerk. I have to go to the bathroom" he whined. "Come in, Jimmy" she said finally. He burst through the curtain and ran into the bathroom. Rae laughed as she and Olivia walked into the kitchen. "You're being mean" she said.
"Isn't that what older siblings are supposed to do to the younger ones?" she asked. "I wouldn't know" Olivia said shrugging her shoulders. "Oh, babe I didn't mean..." Olivia shook her head, "I know" she said cutting her off and giving her a quick kiss. "I know Simon couldn't come up for New Years but maybe he can come visit some other time" she said rubbing her shoulder. "Yeah, maybe". They packed some snacks in small cooler for the drive up and did one last check to make sure they had everything. They were right on schedule to leave the apartment to go meet the rest of the group. Olivia took their bags down to the car while Rae packed the last few things into the cooler.
"Jimmy!" Rae yelled. Jimmy came out of her room and walked over to the kitchen. "What are you doing?" she asked.
"What?" he asked confused. "I was in the bathroom". Olivia walked back into the apartment and saw Rae and Jimmy standing in the kitchen talking.
"Stay out of my stuff, Jimmy. And don't sleep in my bed" she added. "Here" she said giving him the credit card she'd just gotten a little while ago. "Don't lose your mind with it. It's for you only. Don't try to take your girlfriend out with my credit card" she teased.
"She's not my girlfriend...yet" he said. "Whatever. I'm serious. It's not for her or any of your other friends. Food, the movies or if you go out somewhere but don't spend a fortune, understand?". Jimmy nodded, "Yes ma'am" he said sarcastically. She gave him a light shove," Hey, watch the ribs" he said shielding his side. "Sorry". She grabbed the cooler off the counter and turned to Olivia, "We have everything right?" she asked. Olivia nodded and took the cooler from her. "Ummm...stay out of trouble. You have our numbers if you need anything" she said sounding very parental. "And I mean it Jimmy, do not sleep in my bed" she told him again. "Alright, alright. I got it. I won't" he said. "Ok, well we're gonna go". They said their goodbyes and left the apartment. They met up with everyone at Ashley's house to carpool. Rae introduced everyone to Julia and Kensie and they loaded up the cars and hit the road. Julia and Kensie rode in the car with Rae and Olivia and Ashley, Scott, Maureen and Jake rode in Ashley's car.
They arrived at the cabin around twelve thirty in the afternoon, unloaded the cars and took their things to rooms to get settled in. Rae and Olivia walked into their room and were instantly in heaven. They dropped their bags inside the door and started to explore. Rae went over and jumped on the bed and sank into plush comfy blankets and pillows. She rolled around on the bed for a minute before getting up and going to look at the mini bar. Olivia walked into the bathroom and saw the large standing only shower and the hot tub big enough for two. She heard music start to play in the other room followed shortly by a small scream and went to see what Rae was doing. When she walked over she saw that Rae had popped open a bottle of champagne from the bar and was pouring a glass for each of them. She held out one for Liv to take and made a toast to the new year and all the good things to come. Olivia pulled Rae into a kiss that was getting hot and heavy when her phone started ringing. She reluctantly pulled away from her and pulled it from her pocket. She looked at the caller id and saw it was Captain Cragen.
"Yes Captain" she answered. "Really? When?" she asked. Rae wished that she could get more of an idea of what he was calling about but Olivia's side of the conversation gave her no clues. "Yeah, no, that's great" she said smiling. "Uh, actually, I'm not in the city. I'm...I". She looked at Rae who was waiting for her to say whatever it was she was trying to say. "I'm out of town until Sunday" she finally said getting a big smile from Rae. She figured that Captain Cragen was calling to tell Olivia that her suspension was over and that she could come back to work. She was happy that she was choosing to stay with her instead of heading back to the city. "Yes, Monday. I'll be there. Thanks Cap" she said before hanging up the phone. "My suspension's over. I can go back to work on Monday" she said smiling from ear to ear. "That's great babe". She pulled her into another kiss, "We should celebrate" she said. "Ok. Celebrate how?" Olivia asked. "However you want" she said kissing her softly on the lips. "Really? We can do anything I want to do?" she asked seductively. Rae laughed, "Ummm...should I be nervous if I say yes?"
"Of course not. It'll be fun for you too". She took Rae's glass from her and sat it on the bar and took her hand, leading her over to the bed. "Take off your clothes" she instructed. Rae was a little nervous for what Olivia had planned for her but she didn't argue. She reached down and grabbed the hem of her sweater and pulled it over her head. Then she took off her boots and unbuttoned her jeans before sliding them over her hips and down her legs, kicking them to the side. Olivia was practically drooling over her girlfriend standing in front of her in a matching red bra and underwear set. Rae didn't take her eyes off of Olivia as she reached back and unhooked her bra, letting the straps fall from her shoulders and down her arms. She discarded it to the side with her jeans and sweater before reaching down and hooking the sides of her panties with her fingers and pulling them down over her hips and letting her last article of clothing fall to the floor. She stepped out them, moving closer to Olivia and waiting for her next instructions. "Get on the bed" she whispered, barely able to find her voice. Rae climbed up and crawled on all fours up to the top the bed, seductively looking over her shoulder at her girlfriend. Olivia couldn't help the images that came to her mind of her fucking Rae from behind. She came back to reality when Rae turned over and laid down on her back, looking up at her with those big, beautiful brown eyes. She kicked off her shoes and climbed on the bed and laid down next to her. Rae turned over on her side to face Olivia and they stared into each others eyes. Olivia felt like Rae was peering into her soul, as if she could read her every thought and knew all her intentions. Suddenly the weight of what she planned to do when the weekend was over came down on her like a ton of bricks. She couldn't help the tears that formed in her eyes.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Rae asked noticing the emotion that came over her. A single tear fell from her eye and she did her best to blink back the rest. "You know I love you right?" she whispered, not answering Rae's question. Rae reached up and touched the side of Olivia's face, "Of course I do. I love you too" she whispered back. She leaned forward and brought their lips together, moving so that she lay on top of Rae. As their kiss continued, Rae moved her hands under Olivia's shirt but she grabbed them and pinned them to the bed above her head. "That's not what I want" she said softly. Rae smiled, "Ok. Tell me what you want". She wanted so many things. For Rae to be older, for Elliot to have acted differently, her suspension to have never happened, for Soraya to have never talked to her; the list could go on. But she couldn't have any of those things so she said the one thing that she could make happen. "I want to make love to you" she said kissing her softly. "Let me make love to you". Rae wasn't sure what was going on but she didn't want to over think anything. Whatever it was that was making Olivia so emotional, she figured, would come to light sooner or later. She just hoped it was soon rather than later. She silently nodded her head, giving Olivia permission to do what she wanted with her.
Olivia kissed her full on the lips, still holding her hands in place above her head. Their kiss was full of love and passion. Rae wanted so desperately to touch Olivia, to feel her skin against her own. Olivia started to move down Rae's body, sucking and nibbling on every inch of her flesh until she finally delved her tongue into the warm wetness between Rae's legs. Rae struggled to keep her hands where Olivia had put them as her tongue licked and sucked on every inch of her center. She moaned and whimpered and writhed underneath her lover, gripping on to the pillow underneath her head. Her climax kept building and building and as soon as she would get close to going over the edge Olivia would slow down her movements, letting her come down only to build her up again. "Hmmm...huh...ugh" she moaned as Olivia backed off from her climax once again. Olivia could hear her frustration but she refused to give Rae her release. She continued to torture her body with her tongue, building Rae up to the edge again. Without warning she plunged three fingers into her and started to thrust in and out. "Fuck!" she yelled out at the sudden intrusion. She gripped onto the pillow tighter, "Oh my god". Rae's breaths came in uneven pants and her body glistened from a thin layer of sweat. Olivia felt Rae's walls start to constrict around her fingers so she slowed her pace and peppered the inside of her thighs with kissed. "No, please. Please, Liv. God babe" she whimpered. "Please, I can't...I just can't...please...I need...I need to come please...Liv please make me come" she pleaded breathlessly. Olivia began thrusting faster and harder and deeper. She moved her tongue back to her sensitive bundle of nerves and surrounded it with her mouth. She pushed her fingers deep inside her and curled them, moving her fingers in a come hither motion. Rae took the pillow from next to her and put it over her face so that she could quiet herself. It didn't take long before she came, screaming into the pillow covering her face and gushing fluid into Olivia's mouth. As she continued to apply pressure to Rae's g spot, another gush of fluid rushed into her mouth and she swallowed every drop she could. She withdrew her fingers and sucked them clean before moving back up her body. Rae removed the pillow from her face just in time to capture Olivia's lips in a sensual kiss.
"How about we try out that shower" Olivia said with a smug grin on her face. "Does this mean you're gonna take your clothes off?" Rae asked still a bit out of breath. "Yes, but I'm still in charge" she said. "Ok, just...give me a minute" she said back, taking deep breaths to calm herself. Olivia laughed as she climbed off the bed and headed to the bathroom, stripping out her clothes as she went. Rae leaned up on her elbows and watched her girlfriend go into the bathroom to start the shower. "She's trying to kill me" she said to herself. She slowly got down off the bed onto wobbly legs and made her way to the shower. They made love in the shower and then moved back into the bedroom. They had more champagne with chocolate and fruit that was stocked in the mini fridge underneath the bar. They ate and drank and made love on the bar and the floor and then the bed again. Olivia wasn't opposed to spending the entire weekend like this, just the two of them.
