§Hermione§
I had not had a good history with parties. Half of the time I liked to laugh and dance with my friends, and then all of a sudden I'd wish I was in my room, reading or doing something worthwhile. But I was pretty curious about the people at this party.
"Hey, so you're a wizard. Cool. I'm Austin, son of Apollo," said a guy with long hair and blond highlights. He thrust out his hand to shake mine, eyes glinting. "Let me show you around."
"Um, actually I…" I look over to where Jason and a brunette in a "Camp Half-Blood" t-shirt were dancing, while Harry and Percy are having a discussion with lots of wild gesturing and Ginny was accepting an empty goblet from Annabeth. As I turned away I could see her whisper something, and the goblet filled up to the brim with pumpkin juice.
"Go ahead. Austin knows everything about camp. Besides, you have nothing to worry about- everyone knows he's gay." I jumped at the sound of Leo's voice. He and Lyra were standing behind me, her leaning on his shoulder. Austin nodded, confirming Leo's claim.
I blushed. "Um, okay."
And then Ginny bounded up to us. "Ooh, can I come too?" She looked around in awe at the patio we were standing on, right beside the gigantic campfire.
I glanced back at the others. "They won't miss us. Let's go." Austin smiled and we slipped between orange-clad bodies of demigods and satyrs. I actually sighed when we got to the blanket of darkness surrounding the tangle of partiers.
§Jason§
"So, what did I miss?" I asked Piper.
She grew tense in my arms. "Actually, that Lord person seemed to know demigods would chase after him, and he tried his best to prevent that." Uh oh. "Right after you left, he sent a bunch of monsters- you know, cyclops, giants, empousai, the like- to camp. It was weird though- even though he got most of the demigods on his side from Camp Jupiter, there was one or two that we know used to come here, but…"
"He didn't know that the monsters couldn't enter camp," I finished for her. Once again I felt a deep respect for Alexandra. "So they didn't tell him. Hmm." For some reason I didn't tell her about Alexandra.
"Yeah. But other than the monsters… we've pretty much just been waiting around for you guys to come back. Hazel and Frank iris-messaged yesterday. Well, they tried. You guys don't have it at Camp Jupiter, do you? Anyway, they miss you too." Once again she paused, then slowly said, "Which got me thinking… Other than Leo, who's apparently got someone now, the only person I really care about is on the other side of the continent most of the time. And you know the life of a demigod; one of us could be killed while the other is far away, oblivious. So… I think I'm going to transfer to Camp Jupiter."
I lean back in surprise. "Wow. I mean, that's really sweet of you. Are you sure? Camp Jupiter's really different than over here. It's not like I don't want you there, but you really might want to think this-" She put her slender finger on my lips in a sexy way that from her was really just cute.
"I've already thought it through. And I know there's no other Greeks there, but I'm okay with that. And this way we might get to go on more quests together. Trust me, I really want this."
"Okay," I said, but she was already dancing again, guiding me around the marble floor of the patio.
§Harry§
I felt a light tap on my shoulder. Ginny was standing behind me. "Isn't this so cool? I mean, I knew they were half-bloods and all, but this is like a freer, outdoors, American Hogwarts."
"Wait a minute. Weren't you with that weird blond guy?"
She blushed. "I got bored. Hermione started asking all these annoying questions, so I found my way back here." She sighed. "Holy Hippogriff, I'm going to miss those guys."
I nodded. "But at least there's now a chance we could work together again in the future- that'd be awesome. Speaking of the future, are you excited to go back to school in the fall?"
She pursed her lips and said, "I guess. Except it's going to be really strange… for everyone. Repairs to the castle, new teachers, N.E.W.T.s…" She shuddered dramatically, and I laughed.
"Well, you know what they say…" Just then, the band of satyrs and pretty green girls began a new song, with lots of spitting on the pipes and screaming in ancient Greek. I grabbed Ginny's hand. "Seize the day."
Just the epilogue left! Di Immortales, this has been an experience. We might go back and revise some parts, even the parts we think are good but others hate. "Murder your darlings", right? Anyway, the last chapter is coming soon, so enjoy...
