Disclaimer: I still don't own James Bond or the characters and they belongs to Ian Fleming. The only thing I own is Angelle Hughes and Brian Hughes, aka Agent 0010. Now, enjoy the chapter, please?
CHAPTER 6
Once Angelle got dressed and walked down to a lobby, she didn't recognize this place at all. It was so surreal and mysterious. For a moment, she had thought she was back at the hotel, but it would be too risky and she knew Bond wouldn't risk their lives. So the only logical was they were in some sort of hiding place.
She stopped walking when she was in the middle of a hallway. Her heart pounded furiously and she stared right out, in the end of the hallways were a door. It was strange, this place was so big. How was she supposed to know where she was?
Angelle made her choice and despite she was told to go down, she followed her instincts and walked right to the door. It felt like this place was empty on people, she grew scared. What if this was a trap? In that case, why would Bond do such a thing to her then?
In front of the large door, she considered to touch the doorknob, but she was slight afraid if she did, she'll be electrocuted. At last, Angelle touched the doorknob and opened, but she found herself looking carefully inside. She was absolutely surprised.
Mr Bond, his wife Tracy and an elder man she had never seen before sat there inside, why did it seemed like they had waited for her? Angelle didn't liked this one bit, the thoughts ran in her mind and made her confused.
"There she is. We have waited for you, miss Hughes." the elder man said, he walked to her and greeted Angelle by shaking her hand. She was still confused, why did they wait for her? Wasn't they angry because she didn't do what she was told to? And why did Mr Bond smirk?!
"Thank you, sir?" Angelle stuttered nervously and couldn't bring herself to look at him. The elderly man put a hand on her shoulder and led to a chair, by his desk. Angelle sat down, Bond and Tracy were sitting not far from her. Tracy's expression was an emotionless stare at the elderly man, almost like she would warn him from saying something unsuitable to Angelle.
"Excuse me, sir. But who are you and how does it comes that you expected me here?" Angelle finally found her voice again and tried to understand the situation. But not even her realistic and logical mind could find an answer to this.
"Let me introduce myself. Marc-Ange Draco, father to my daughter, Teresa." The elder man responded and gestured to Tracy, who attempted to scowl, by the mention of her full name. Angelle understood. So, this man was her father and Bond's father-in-law.
"And to answer your second question. What I have been told, you're a daughter of a secret agent and clearly we expected you wouldn't ignore your instincts. My daughter and my son-in-law have told much about you, miss Hughes."
Angelle nodded. Really, this felt like a dream and it was so surreal as possible. What in world would they want from her? Actually, her part was done and she had found Bond. But what now? What was going to happen to her now?
"Nevertheless, these is serious things going on. Apparently, a man called Blofeld is after you. Not too long ago he tried to kill my daughter and Mr Bond, but he failed. Sadly enough, he managed to take your father's life. But you survived and escaped. Blofeld have threaten and sworn to hunt you down and I'm sure he will not give up until he have your head on a platter."
Tracy rose up, enraged of her father's words to explain. This was NOT words a child should hear, especially not when Angelle's life was in danger. Her eyes flashed of fury and Bond rose up at once to try calm her down.
"Papa, this is not words she should hear!" she almost shouted, Angelle winced by Tracy harsh outburst. With her own eyes, she saw this could turn into a nasty fight between father and daughter. She cringed inside, what would she give to just hear her own father talk? Yet, Angelle knew there were no use to think about it now.
"Teresa, she must hear the truth, no matter how ugly it sounds. I'm just warning her of what might come and she needs to be prepared-"
"Prepared for what? Being slaughtered like a pig?!" Tracy snapped angrily. Bond didn't do anything, he knew better than to get between another fight between his wife and his father-in-law. Instead, he observed the young girl, who looked very uncomfortable with this conversation.
Angelle decided to speak up before a fight was exploding. Good Lord, it wasn't like she was an object that needed to be in safety.
"Please, sir and madame. Hear me out before you'll get into a fight. I know the dangers around me, I already know Blofeld is after me and I'm not completely blind or un-prepared for this. I know that Blofeld thinks I have something that he claims belongs to him. But I haven't."
It was an uncomfortable silence, Tracy glared at her father and almost accused him by her stares. Bond decided to face the younger girl, before she'll blame herself. It was the last thing they needed after all.
"Miss Hughes. You just told us that Blofeld "thinks" you have something that belongs to him. But you claims you don't have it. Have you ever thought that your father left something to you without your knowledge?"
That question alone made Angelle thinking deeply. The only thing her father left to her before he was "executed" as she recalls it, he gave her the medallion. But she couldn't open it at all, it was locked. But if the medallion was locked and suppose that her father must hide something inside it, maybe he knew something that no one did and if not even Bond knew, then there were no one who knew.
Angelle made her decision to tell the truth as well. For some odd reason, she felt that she could trust Bond and Tracy. They saved her actually from getting caught from those men in suits, back in the hotel in Lisbon...
Then it hit her! Where were she?! Angelle still didn't knew where in the world she were, who could actually know maybe she had been shipped to the end of the world?
"Sir! I still don't know where I am, could you be so kind to tell me-"
"Ah. I understood nothing could fool you, miss Hughes. For your information, you're in my mansion. Which is here in Corsicans." Draco answered casually, almost like it was the most simple answer in the world. Angelle wanted to faint. Corsicans?! How?
However, Draco and Bond needed to talk alone, which this ended in Tracy spent "quality time" with Angelle, who was pretty nervous and only had in her thoughts what Blofeld might do to her if he caught her.
Angelle was proven wrong, maybe this wasn't such bad idea at all. Corsicans was beautiful, the weather was so warm and despite this, Angelle felt very unsure of herself. Just walking around with Tracy, with people in a crowd!
Oh, she wished that she wasn't so anti-social and scared for the "outside world" as she called it. One of the main reasons why she have never set her foot far from her former home back in England, where she grew up. She almost got dizzy of being in a crowd, her heart pounded furiously in her chest and for a moment, she thought it was about to explode.
Tracy must understand that she was uncomfortable in crowds, Angelle suddenly found herself sitting calmed in a bench with Tracy. It looked like a very nice garden with so many flowers Angelle have never seen in her life. Only seeing flowers in solid pictures of books was certainly not the same like experience them in the real life. There were roses, all different with so many colors, shapes, scents and bees flew around from flower to flower.
How did bees lived anyways? Angelle wondered how short life they must have and yet, bees wasnt bothered at all. They just lived and died, without anyone noticed or cared much about it. She had once read a book by someone who wrote about bees and how they lived. Angelle didn't remember it much, but it can't been a very eventful life at all.
That subject wandered through her mind to another, but a very familiar subject. Death. Then, totally uninvited, the memory of her father. He lied there, soaked in deep red blood, his once blue eyes were wide open and the warmth that once rested there were gone and replaced with emptiness. The memory of herself seeing him being slaughtered so brutally.
That man. That horrible, bald and evil man who ordered his men to kill her father. Oh, all she could feel was pure hatred. Now, she knew his name. Blofeld. Her heart beat hard again, but of anger and hate. Her blood boiled. She wanted to use her father's gun, which she always carried around, to kill him off. To let him pay.
But she knew that she wouldn't have a chance. What could a twelve-year-old girl, a homeless orphan, do alone against someone like him?!
Nevertheless, Angelle soon forgot her anger. Tracy was a good company, Angelle felt a euphoric calmness with content protection. She could talk to Tracy about everything, about what bothered her. Life was so funny and extraordinary. Last night, she met Bond and Tracy and they saved her from those men. This morning, her suspiciously nature got the best of her and she started to act defensive to Tracy. Later, she met Tracy's father and Bond started to gain trust from her.
And right now, she sat here in a garden full of roses and bees, with Tracy. It felt so strange to be close and trust a woman, who was older than her. Angelle grew up without any memory of a mother. Her own mother died when she was barely two years old, so there were no memories of a mother figure to talk about.
How did it actually felt to have a mother? Angelle didn't know, she knew painfully when this was over and the first thing that will happen was she was going to be sent to an orphanage. In where she was going to live and grew up without any love. Slowly would the memories of her beloved father disappear and she'll forget who she was, the daughter of an MI6 agent.
Once they got back to Draco's place. Place and place. For Angelle, it was a mansion. She had never been at such places, so it was a bit extraordinary. Tracy strolled away once they got inside, just to see Bond and Draco greet them. Tracy and Draco spend a good long moment to stare., at last Tracy just walked past her father and completely ignored him.
Angelle watched with a slight sadness coming over her. She didn't likes this at all, she could clearly remember how her own childhood had been. Lonely in a big house and always ignored of her father when he lived. Studying was the only thing she ever did and when she didn't study, then she practiced more chess and piano. He always got home from his "jobs" and she was always shunned away.
Go and play, did he always said and then he just slammed the door in front of her face.
Angelle was very scared of being ignored again, now when she came to trust Bond and Tracy. She didn't knew why, but she always called Mr Bond formally and was different for Tracy. It was the first time she ever trusted any other adults than her deceased father, thanks to her being anti-social. Thanks for she's been living her whole life inside a big house alone and never talked to anyone.
She sighed as the time went through rest of the day. Bond went away for a couple of hours, she didn't knew when he was back. She didn't ask either where he was going, it wasn't exactly her business and she must stay here for safety's sake.
Tracy were somewhere else no one knew and not even Draco knew where, but he had a strong suspicion that Tracy was wandering around in the huge garden, which was big as a maze. Angelle could see it through the window of the bedroom she was staying, it was really magnific and extraordinary. There were still many things she had to experience more than just staring at a plain book.
Draco was working with something Angelle didn't pay any attention, but she wished that he did NOT asked his men to watch her like bodyguards. They were making her scared and uncomfortable whenever she walked past them. She sighed as she began to walk to her now usual spot by the window. Angelle just sat there in a chair by the window and stared outside, like she always used to do back home whenever she felt lonely or sad. That was exactly what she felt whenever Bond or Tracy was around.
She was alone.
Aww, that must been sad. :c Please, leave a review you read this very belated chapter (sorry for that though).
