Broken Hearts
Chapter 3
A/N: Sorry for the long wait ^^;
This chapter might seem a bit confusing, I'm sorry about that
I'm just not very good at describing situations, especially with this one
And I didn't have much time to go through my mistakes, so please don't flame ^^
Still I hope you can enjoy!
…
Loki was quiet then, staring at Tom for a while and sitting down, more calm this time.
Tom too locked eyes with the god, curious of what would happen next.
"Excuse me, but could you please unbind me?" Tom asked after a while, as it was getting uncomfortable to be chained to the bed.
Loki glared at the mortal, but undid the chains anyways. It was not like the mortal could flee from him and he didn't have anything to be afraid of.
Tom rubbed his aching hands and looked up at the God. "Thank you." He said politely.
"So why did you search for me? Did you hope I could help you with anything?" Tom asked carefully, hoping not to anger the God again.
Loki sighed. "You are the one, who portrayed me…and as I saw you the first time, I felt something…something like a connection between us. As I watched you, I found myself on screen, as if it was actually me. You really seemed to understand what I had been through…But then I realized it was just acting. It is your job after all, so you have to try to be like the characters… I gave up on you and my hope turned into anger…All the frustration and pain, which I swallowed and tried to hide, I let them out on you." Loki explained. "You're just an ordinary mortal, who is trying to survive in this pathetic world. I finally got that…" Loki sighed and turned away.
"No! It wasn't just acting. Of course I try to play my characters well and try to understand them, but you were different. I admired your character, everything about you was so interesting to play…And I think nobody should go through such pain and I couldn't imagine that somebody, you, really went through this. Now that I know you're real and that you've shown your real self to me…I won't let you go back." Tom said, his voice more strong than he thought.
"What are you saying, Hiddleston? You just met me…" Loki asked confused.
"But I feel like I have known you for a long time. Please let me help you." Tom begged. He didn't want the trickster to disappear after their ways crossed. Tom was meeting his role, the one he had admired without knowing he even existed.
"How do you think you could help me? No one can…I know, they've tried…" Loki said quietly and pained.
"Honestly? I don't know, I don't have any plan…But I don't want you to go back to your old life full of pain. I will think of something, just don't give up, okay?" Tom pleaded.
Loki looked at him for a moment, before shaking his head and chuckling. "Okay, why not?" he laughed. "You amuse me, mortal. I'll keep you alive…for now." Loki smirked.
He actually tried to hide his feelings from Tom by acting like that. Nobody was ever that interested in the God as Tom was. And Loki wanted to find out why.
Tom wasn't the least frightened. He just smiled and nodded. "Okay…"
…
"So what is life in Asgard like? I mean, if people were not trying to hurt you…" Tom asked curious.
Loki thought for a moment, trying to focus on his happy times. There hardly were any.
"It's quite boring, when I'm not pulling any pranks on the gods. They always take things so seriously…Sometimes Thor could laugh about them…he was the only one, who…" Loki trailed off then, suddenly seeming depressive about something.
Tom thought it would be best not to ask and to change the topic.
"Say, why did you come here, now? I mean why not earlier?" Tom asked.
Loki looked up, totally taken off-guard by the sudden topic change.
"Let's say it like this…My last hope…has finally been taken away from me and made me realize, that I should no longer stay in Asgard, the center of my pain." Loki mumbled, not very happy at this question either.
Tom thought it would be the best to not ask any further questions.
"I'm sorry to hear that…" Tom apologized, feeling bad for even starting to ask questions.
Loki didn't response, he needed time to swallow down the memories.
"What about you? What does it feel like to make these…I think you call them films." Loki asked after he had collected himself.
"It's hard to describe…I feel like the character I play, I guess. I want to understand what the character feels and want to be him." Tom explained.
"Just like you tried with me…" Loki added.
Tom nodded. "And I feel so alive and I feel like I've done it right, when I hear the crowd cheering and see they got the character." Tom said.
"That sounds…" Loki couldn't even find the words…how much he wanted people to admire him, even if it was just one…Someone who would give him the feeling he did things right.
Tom noticed Loki was deep in thought.
"But I also enjoy when I'm alone…" he added.
"I understand…" Loki said quietly. "Are you ever unhappy?" he asked next.
"I-Why are you asking that?" Tom asked a bit confused at the sudden question.
"Everywhere I saw you, you never seemed unhappy…never…" Loki mumbled.
"Well, of course there are times where I'm not happy with something, but that's just natural, right?" Tom said shrugging.
"You're such an optimist, I can't believe someone like you managed to portrait me." Loki said more to himself.
Tom just chuckled.
Loki smiled at the actor's sweet honest laugh.
He wished he could be just as happy and carefree…But he knew better…Just as he thought he could be happy with someone and he could open to him, he was proofed wrong. Now he was heartbroken and didn't know if he ever could trust someone like this…
Without thinking further, he touched the point where Tom's heart laid.
"You have a gentle heart…but I can see it's broken, just as mine is…" Loki mumbled.
"W-What are you talking about?" Tom asked confused, flinching slightly from Loki's touch.
Loki then locked eyes with Tom, smiling weakly, before pulling his tunic down a bit to expose his chest.
Tom's eyes widened as he saw the big scar right above Loki's heart.
It was shaped exactly like a heart, but the skin was almost black. The actor had never seen any skin being bruised like this.
"W-What is this?" Tom asked shocked, touching the skin only briefly, before pulling his hand back at the coldness coming from the bruise.
"That's how a broken heart looks like…" Loki said, looking at the actor with a weak smile.
Tom didn't get at all what Loki was saying.
"Thor gave it to me a while ago…" Loki explained.
"I-Is this some kind of trick?" Tom asked shocked.
Loki shook his head and smiled gently.
"Just as I thought Thor and me could return to the good old times and get closer again, he proved me wrong…If that damned mortal woman didn't exist…" Loki cursed, as he remembered the moment his entire world broke.
Tom looked at Loki, feeling pity for the God of Mischief.
"I'm sorry to hear that…" Tom said quietly and raised one hand to stroke Loki's arm in a gentle motion.
"You don't need to be…" Loki said smiling, laying his hand over Tom's heart, coming back to the actual topic.
"I can see it…You too have a broken heart." Loki mumbled.
"W-What are you talking about? I don't have a-"Tom couldn't even finish his sentence, as Loki's slightly green glowing hand left his chest, he looked down, a slight pain spreading across the spot.
He pulled at his shirt, exposing the bit of his chest the pain came from.
His eyes widened as he saw the big bruise, his chest now looking just like Loki's.
A broken heart…
