A/N: I just realized that Fred, George, and Harry were kicked off the Quidditch team before Christmas. Well in this story they aren't kicked off til February. Part of this was taken from the Order of the Phoenix. Thank Jo, don't sue me.
Chapter 5: Kicked Off
Despite everything that was going on, Fred and George were still as in sync as ever on the Quidditch pitch. They worked as effortlessly as before. There was still tension in the air. Everyone could sense it; everyone except Harry that is, but he had enough on his mind right now. Alicia was trying to sort things out. She tried talking to the twins and seeing if the would fix this whole mess; it didn't go over well. Katie was keeping to herself. She didn't talk to Angelina or Fred, not that the former tried to talk to her; the only person out of the six of them she did talk to was George, and even that was very rare. Angelina was to busy ignoring Katie and Fred and being Quidditch captain; she didn't have time to think about everything else. Fred was trying to talk to Katie, but she was hard to find sometimes; after she did learn from the best (a.k.a. Fred and George). George was on ok terms with Angelina. He didn't see her very often, but when he did, she wasn't yelling or ignoring him. He talked to Katie when he saw her. She seemed happy to have his company. Lee was still trying to get Fred and George back together. After all, how could you choose between Fred and George?
"Weasley! Watch it! That bludger almost hit me!" Angelina shouted. They had been practicing for almost 2 hours, now and everyone was getting tired.
"Which one?" George snapped.
"Don't sass me!" she snapped back.
Katie rolled her eyes. She was really starting to get annoyed with Angelina. They had been out her for two bloody hours without one break, they deserved to go back inside. "Come on, Ange, we've been at it for two hours," Katie whined. "Let's go in."
"Angelina, please, it's bloody cold out here," Alicia complained.
"Yeah, Captain, or would you rather have us do laps around the pitch?" Fred said.
"I'm going to ignore that comment," Angelina said. "You can go. You two, put all of equipment up."
"What?!" Alicia and Fred shouted at the same time.
"Why us?" Alicia asked.
"Do it!" Angelina snapped.
"Yes, your majesty, wouldn't want to upset the princess," Fred replied. Angelina glared at him, but didn't say anything.
Great, alone time with Ange, Katie thought. Just hope she ignores you. Katie dismounted and cast an apologetic look at Alicia before walking slowly to the changing rooms. "Hey," a voice came from beside her.
She looked up and saw George. "Hey," she said. She knew Fred was glaring daggers at her.
"What's with Ange?" he asked watching the older girl walk in front of them.
"I don't know," Katie replied. "We don't talk much anymore."
"Oh, sorry, I didn't know," George said looking down.
"It's no big deal," Katie told him. "So how's it going seducing the Quidditch captain?"
George laughed. "I'm not seducing her."
"So you're saying you can't do it?"
"I didn't say that," he replied. "No one can resist this."
"Keep telling yourself that," she said laughing. "What about Fred?"
"What about him?" he asked.
"How are things with him?"
"He's as stubborn as ever."
"Are you even trying to patch things with him?"
"Nope," George said popping the 'p'. "When he decides that he wants to talk me then I'll apologize."
"You both are so stubborn," Katie told him. "I can't believe I'm friends with you."
"You know you couldn't live without me," he replied.
"Yes, my life would be very dull then," Katie said.
They both laughed, but then a voice rang out, "George, can you come here for a moment."
They both looked over and saw Angelina looking at George. "See ya, Kates," he said. Katie nodded. She walked pat George and Angelina into the locker rooms.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Fred asked Alicia, as George walked over to Katie.
"How should I know?" Alicia asked. "I'm not over there."
"I don't like the way he's looking at her," Fred said, narrowing his eyes at them.
"Fred, they're just talking," Alicia said, rolling her eyes.
"He'll steal her away from me!" Fred cried. "Just like he stole Angelina."
"First, he didn't steal Angelina," Alicia said. "Second, you didn't really like Angelina. Third, grow some balls and talk to Katie. Fourth, apologize to Ange, she is working us to hard."
"That's my fault?" Fred asked.
"Just help me with this stuff," she said. Alicia grabbed her broom and flew off to get one of the Bludgers. Fred mounted his broom and looked back before taking off. George and Katie were laughing.
"George can you come here for a moment," Angelina called. She saw him all cozy with Katie. She didn't like it one bit.
He turned and said something to Katie before jogging over to her. "What's up, Ange?" he asked.
Angelina smiled sweetly. "I hope practice wasn't to hard on you," she said. "I didn't mean to be so harsh."
"Oh, um, yeah I-it was fine," George said, pulling at his shirt collar.
"Good, I won't want to wear poor Georgie out," she said, running a finger up his chest.
"Y-you d-d-didn't," he stammered.
"Good," she said straightening up. She turned on her heel and walked into the locker room.
The Quidditch game went well. Extremely well. Gryffindor had won! Angelina ran over to where Harry was lying on the ground. "Are you alright?" she asked as she extended her hand to help Harry up. Harry had been knocked off of his broom by a Bludger just as he caught the snitch.
"'Course I am," said Harry grimly, taking her hand and allowing her to pull him to his feet.
"It was that thug, Crabbe," said Angelina angrily, referring to who had knocked him off this broom. "He whacked the Bludger at you the moment he saw you'd got the Snitch — but we won, Harry, we won!"
Angelina smiled happily at Harry then they heard a snort from behind them and turned around. Draco Malfoy had landed close by; white-faced with fury, he was still managing to sneer.
"Saved Weasley's neck, haven't you?" he said to Harry. "I've never seen a worse Keeper … but then he was born in a bin... Did you like my lyrics, Potter?"
Harry did not answer; he and Angelina turned away to meet the rest of the team who were now landing one by one, yelling and punching the air in triumph, all except Ron, who had dismounted from his broom over by the goalposts and was making his way slowly back to the changing rooms alone.
"We wanted to write another couple of verses!" Malfoy called, as Katie and Alicia hugged Harry. "But we couldn't find rhymes for fat and ugly — we wanted to sing about his mother, see —"
"Talk about sour grapes," said Angelina, casting Malfoy a disgusted look.
"— we couldn't fit in useless loser either — for his father, you know —"
Fred and George had realized what Malfoy was talking about. Halfway through shaking Harry's hand they stiffened, looking around at Malfoy.
"Leave it," said Angelina at once, taking Fred by the arm. "Leave it, Fred, let him yell, he's just sore he lost, the jumped-up little —"
"— but you like the Weasleys, don't you, Potter?" said Malfoy, sneering. "Spend holidays there and everything, don't you? Can't see how you stand the stink, but I suppose when you've been dragged up by Muggles even the Weasleys' hovel smells okay —"
Harry grabbed hold of George; meanwhile it was taking the combined efforts of Angelina, Alicia, and Katie to stop Fred leaping on Malfoy, who was laughing openly. Madam Hooch was still berating Crabbe for his illegal bludger attack.
"Or perhaps," said Malfoy, leering as he backed away, "you can remember what your mother's house stank like, Potter, and Weasley's pigsty reminds you of it —"
Angelina watched in horror as Harry released George and they both lunged at Malfoy. They didn't even bother to take their wands out.
"Harry!" Katie yelled.
"Harry!" Alicia cried.
"George! No!" Angelina shouted.
Malfoy was now yelling quite loudly. Madam Hooch choose to turn around at this time. She blew her whistle, but it did no good. Harry and George were to busy with Malfoy to notice. She immediately pulled out her wand and cried, "Impedimenta!"
"What do you think you're doing?" screamed Madam Hooch, as Harry leapt to his feet again. Malfoy was curled up on the ground, whimpering and moaning, his nose bloody; George was sporting a swollen lip; Fred was still being forcibly restrained by Angelina, Alicia, and Katie, and Crabbe was cackling in the background. "I've never seen behavior like it — back up to the castle, both of you, and straight to your Head of House's office! Go! Now!" Madam Hooch screeched.
Harry and George marched off the pitch, both panting, neither saying a word to each other.
"Banned," said Angelina in a hollow voice, late that evening in the common room. "Banned. No Seeker and no Beaters … What on earth are we going to do?"
"It's just so unfair," said Alicia numbly. "I mean, what about Crabbe and that Bludger he hit after the whistle had been blown? Has she banned him?"
"No," said Ginny miserably; she and Hermione were sitting on either side of Harry. "He just got lines, I heard Montague laughing about it at dinner."
"And banning Fred when he didn't even do anything!" said Alicia furiously, pummeling her knee with her fist.
"It's not my fault I didn't," said Fred, with a very ugly look on his face. "I would've pounded the little scumbag to a pulp if you three hadn't been holding me back."
"I'm going to bed," said Angelina, getting slowly to her feet. "Maybe this will all turn out to have been a bad dream... Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and find we haven't played yet..."
She slowly marched up the stairs. This couldn't be happening. Not now. Now she would have to replace the best Beaters and Seeker the team ever had. This was awful. How could they win now? She would have to replace them and do it fast or else their Quidditch team was doomed.
Angelina heard footsteps coming up the stairs. She continued to her room not bothering to see who it was. As soon as she laid down on her bed, Alicia walked into their room; Katie stood in the doorway unsure if she should come in or not. Angelina sighed before nodding. She slowly walked into the room and sat down on Alicia's bed. "It's not your fault, Ange," Alicia said. "It's that toad woman's fault."
"Thanks, Lic," Angelina said. "I just don't know what we're going to do."
"Don't worry about it," Katie said. "Like Alicia said, it's not your fault."
Angelina looked at Katie for a moment. She decided that she didn't want to fight with her tonight. She didn't have enough energy. So she decided to put their differences behind them for tonight. "So who are we going to find to replace Fred, George, and Harry?" she asked.
"No one can replace Fred and George," Alicia said. "They are the best Beaters Hogwarts has ever seen."
"True," Angelina said.
"Ginny's pretty good on a broom," Katie said. "We could see if she would be a good Seeker."
"I'm holding try outs tomorrow," Angelina said, burying her face into her pillow.
"Well, I'm going to go to bed," Katie said. "See ya."
Angelina was foaming the next morning. How dare her Beaters and Seeker get in a fight and kicked off the team! When she came down, George was sitting in the common room talking to Lee. Angelina walked over to him. "How dare you!" she shouted.
"What?" he asked, as Lee quietly moved out of the common room. "I didn't do anything!"
"You got kicked off the team!" she shouted.
"You heard Malfoy!" George yelled, suddenly standing up. "He insulted my parents! What was I supposed to do?! Lie down like a dog?!"
"No! You're supposed to be the bigger person and walk away!" Angelina screamed.
Just then Fred came bounding down the stairs. "And you!" she said rounding on him. "You tried to attack him, too!"
"What are we talking about?" Fred asked, clueless.
"Giving Malfoy a bloody nose," George mumbled.
"Yes, I tried to attack him," Fred said. "Good punch, by the way."
George nodded. "I don't care if it was a good punch!" Angelina shouted. "You two got kicked off the team! What kind of position do you think that puts me in?!"
"Angelina, that's enough," someone said from behind them; they turned to see Katie. "They've gone through enough without you yelling at them. Malfoy did insult their parents. He deserved what he got. There's nothing we can do about it now. Yelling at them is not going to help."
Angelina looked at her for a moment before storming out of the common room. "Thanks, Kates," Fred said.
"I'm still pissed at you for getting kicked off the team, but I would have done the same thing if Malfoy said that about my mum and dad," with that she left the common room leaving Fred and George alone for the first time in weeks.
