Chapter 6: Fight
George shuffled his feet. How do you talk to your twin when you got in a fight over a girl? Fred and George had never fought before. Ever. "So. . . . ." he let his sentence trail off.
"Yeah," Fred said awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I'm sorry," they both said at the same time.
"What? You have nothing to be sorry for," George said. "I was the one who a crush on your girlfriend."
"Yeah, well, I may have over reacted at the time," Fred said. "I mean, I didn't even like the girl for half the time I was dating her."
"Still she was yours and I shouldn't have thought about her like that," George replied.
"Well, it's not like it really matters," Fred said, plopping down on the couch. "Katie is avoiding me. Angelina, well let's just say I haven't tried talking to her."
"Right," George said, sitting down next to him. "I could talk to Katie for you."
"Really?!" Fred asked, his eyes lighting up.
"What are brothers for?" George asked.
"So you giving up on the Angelina thing?" Fred asked.
"Yeah," George said sighing. "She doesn't think about me that way."
"Did she say that?" Fred asked.
"No," George replied.
"Then don't give up," Fred said.
"Thanks, Forge," George said.
"No problem, Gred," Fred said.
"Katie! Katie, wait up!" George called after her.
"What?" Katie asked turning around. "I don't really have time, George."
"What's your next class?" he asked.
"Transfiguration," she replied.
"Great, I'll walk you," he said.
"Why?" she asked.
"Can't I walk a friend to class without being questioned?" George said.
"Yeah, whatever," Katie said.
"So. . .what's up?"
"Not much. Why?"
"Just wondered."
"So how'd it go with you and Fred? There wasn't anyone in the common room when I left."
"Good. Speaking of Fred, have you talked to him?"
"No, not recently. Why?"
"You know, you should. He misses you."
"Yeah, well, I miss talking to Alicia without having to worry if Angelina is going to blow her top."
"Maybe you should talk to him. You know, you miss him, too."
"Do not."
"Do to."
"Do not!"
"Do to!"
"What are you two talking about?" Alicia asked, appearing on the other side of Katie.
"Katie missing Fred," George said.
"I do not!" Katie yelled.
"She does," George said.
Alicia gave a nod of approval. "You're right," she said. "She does miss him."
"I do not!" Katie said again. "Fred is my friend, very replaceable."
"Is Alicia replaceable?" George asked.
"No, of course not!" Katie said appalled.
"Then Fred isn't replaceable," George said.
"You are the most annoying person in the world," Katie said.
"He's right, you know," Alicia said. "No matter what you say, deep down you miss him."
"Keep thinking that, this is my stop," Katie said, then turned to go into her classroom.
"Yeah, she misses him," George said.
As Katie walked down to the Great Hall, she decided that she needed to talk to Angelina. If she yelled at her fine, but Katie didn't want to walk around with this guilt anymore. She walked into the Hall and made her way over to Angelina as she did she saw Fred and George whispering something to each other. Pushing it to the back of her mind, she kept moving and came to where and Angelina was sitting. "Can I talk to you? Alone?" she asked as Angelina spun around to look at her shocked.
"Fine," Angelina said.
She stood and Alicia mouthed 'Good luck' to Katie. They made their way out of the Great Hall and Katie walked into an empty class room then turned around. "Look, I'm not sorry, because I have nothing to be sorry for," Katie said. "I don't care if you're pissed at me. You can stay mad for as long as you like. I understand, but it's not my fault Fred fancied me."
"I don't think you get it, Katie," Angelina said. "My boyfriend fancied another girl while he was with me. My best friend, no less. Fred hurt me, ok? I'm not ready to forgive him, nor will I anytime soon. Besides you must have done something to entice him. Fred wouldn't like a girl for no reason. I'm daft. I see the way you look at him and he looks back at you the same way."
"What are you talking about?!" Katie nearly yelled. "I don't fancy Fred! We are just friends! Or were 'til you broke up! Now everything is complicated! I can't even talk to him properly because every time I get near him, I think 'Ange is going to kill me'! Well, you know what? It's not my fault you can't keep a boyfriend!"
Before Katie could react, Angelina's fist was in her face knocking her to the ground. Katie stood up quickly and grabbed Angelina's hair pulling her down to the ground. Elbowing her in the stomach, Angelina pulled at Katie's hair as Katie had done to her. Katie screamed and punched Angelina in the face, satisfied when she heard a squeal from Angelina. Using all her strength, Katie flipped them and punched Angelina squarely on the jaw. Angelina squirmed under her trying to get away from Katie. Katie pulled her hair wanting to rip it out of her perfect head. Angelina pushed Katie off of her and hit her in the lip. Katie felt the blood leaking out of her lip.
Suddenly Angelina was being pulled off of her. Katie tried to scrambled after her, but two arms locked securely around her waist. She finally got a look at what she had done to Angelina. Her eye was starting to swell and her jaw would probably have a bruise tomorrow. Parts of her hair that were pulled out of her ponytail, hung around her face.
Angelina stepped on George's foot in an attempt to get away from him. He howled in pain, but refused to let her go. Katie continued to struggle as well, but the voice that growled in her ear stopped her, "Stop it, Kates, or else."
Katie stopped moving breathing deeply, glaring at Angelina. Angelina glared right back, but she was still struggling against George. "Angelina! Stop!" George said, giving a wank on her stomach.
"Let me go!" she said, through gritted teeth.
"Not until you calm down," he said.
"What were you two thinking?" Alicia asked, moving into the room. She was extremely pale. "I thought you two came in here to talk not. . . .fight!"
"She started it," Angelina said, crossing her arms.
"Who hit who?!" Katie shouted.
Alicia sighed running her hands through her hair. "You two would have killed each other if I hadn't seen you and gotten Fred and George." Katie and Angelina just glared at each other.
"You two, this has to stop," George said.
"Yeah? Well, last time I checked you were still fighting with Fred," Angelina said.
"Well, check again, cause we aren't anymore," George said.
"Joy," Angelina replied.
"Will you just get over it?" Alicia asked. "It's not that big of a deal!"
"You don't even know what we were talking about!" Angelina snapped.
"No, I don't and that's your business, but you don't have to fight," Alicia said. "You could, at least, act like an adult. Angelina you are 18, for Merlin's sake! Katie you're going to be 17 soon!"
Angelina rolled her eyes. "Yes, mum," Katie said.
"Katie, please," Alicia said.
"I have nothing to apologize for," Katie said.
"Ange?" Alicia said.
"I'm not apologizing to her!" Angelina said. "Not after what she said!"
"Oh Merlin forbid the Princess Angelina get her feelings hurt!" Katie said.
Angelina started to struggle against George again, trying to get to Katie. "Angelina! That's enough!" George said. "Stop it!"
Angelina took a deep breath. "Can I go now?" she asked.
George raised an eyebrow at Fred, who nodded. He released her slowly. Angelina turned and stormed out of the room. "I'll talk to her," George said; he hurried after Angelina.
Fred whirled Katie around to face him. "Are you ok?" he asked.
"I'm fine," Katie said, wiping at her lip.
Fred pulled his shirt up and wiped the blood off of her bottom lip. "You need to go to Madam Pomfrey ," he said.
"And get detention?" Katie said. "No thanks."
"Come on, Kates," Fred said, tugging on her arm lightly.
"Fred, I'm fine," Katie said, trying to pull away.
"You're going to the Hospital Wing," Fred said, his grip tightened on her arm and he pulled her along with him.
"Ange! Ange! Angelina Johnson!" George said, running to catch up with her.
"What?!" she said, spinning around to face him.
"You ok?" he asked, looking at her face.
"What do you want?" Angelina asked.
"I just wanted to make sure you were ok," George said.
"Just peachy," Angelina said.
"You don't look peachy," he replied.
"Yeah, well, I don't really care," she said.
"You need to go to the Hospital Wing," George said, moving a piece of hair of out of face. His thumb grazed the corner of her eye and she winced. "Sorry."
"It's alright," Angelina said.
She looked at him for a moment, her eyes falling on his lips then went straight back to his eyes. George didn't let this go unnoticed. His hand caressed her face. Slowly he lowered his lips to hers. Just as they were about to meet, a voice spoke up, "Ahem."
They jumped apart and looked around to see who it was. "I didn't mean to interrupt anything," Alicia said. "I just came to see if you were ok. Fred is taking Katie to the Hospital Wing."
"Right," George said. "The Hospital Wing. Well um. . . .you should head down there."
"Yeah," Angelina said. "Thanks. . . .for asking about me."
Then she turned and walked down the hall. "You were doing a lot more than asking about her, from where I was standing," Alicia mumbled, before moving down the hall after Angelina.
