Chapter 7: Detention

Angelina quickly made her through the halls of Hogwarts to get to the Hospital Wing. How could she have been so stupid? She couldn't lead George on like that. She couldn't hurt him. She didn't want to hurt him. What would have happened if Alicia hadn't interrupted them? Did his lips feel as soft as they looked? Would she be pressed up against one of the castle walls right now?

No! She could not go there!

"Angelina! Angelina!" Alicia called from behind her.

Angelina quickened her pace, but Alicia sped up and grabbed her arm. "Ange? Are you alright?" Alicia asked.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" she asked.

"Don't play dumb," Alicia said. "I saw you and you know I did."

"So?" Angelina said, looking away from her.

"So, what are you going to do?" she asked. "You know George likes you."

"I know," Angelina said. "I guess I never really thought about it. I mean, I knew he liked me and all, but I didn't know how serious he was about it was."

"He's not Fred," she replied.

"You don't think I know that?" she snapped. "I can tell the difference."

"Then I think you should let this all go," Alicia said. "You're holding onto something because you're afraid of what will happen if you let it go. You need to move on and forgive Katie. And Fred."

"You don't get it, Alicia, he liked Katie all along," Angelina said. "I was just a toy."

"I don't care what you think about Fred, he would never do that to his friend," Alicia said. "He cares about you. Maybe he doesn't care about you in a girlfriend way, but he does care about you and always will."

They had reached the Hospital Wing and Angelina was beginning to think Alicia was right.

Fred practically dragged Katie all the way to the Hospital Wing. She hated going to the hospital. When she was a little girl, her grandmother was dying and she had to sit in the waiting room for 5 hours with an unpleasant woman who told her about all the ways she could die and all the things wrong with a hospital. Katie shivered. "Fred, really I don't need to go to the Hospital Wing," she said for the fiftieth time.

"You're going, Katie, end of story," Fred replied.

"Yes, mum," Katie mumbled.

After a moment, she spoke again, "You don't have to go to the Hospital Wing when you hurt yourself working on your Weasley's products."

"That's different," he said.

"How so?" she asked.

"Because it just is," Fred said. "You're to the Hospital Wing whether you like it or not."

"But, Fred," Katie whined like a child. "I don't want to."

"Too bad." The rest of the walk to the Hospital Wing was silent. Katie sighed as she saw Alicia sitting with Angelina. Madam Pomfrey was attending to Angelina's wounds so Katie sat down on the bed and waited for her to get done.

"I'll be right back," Fred said. "I'm going to find George."

Katie nodded and didn't say anything. Alicia quickly came over to her bed. "Hey, are you ok?" she asked.

"I don't think I'll die anytime soon, just a few cuts and bruises," Katie replied smiling.

"You two really need to sort out you're priorities," Alicia said sighing.

"Alicia!" Angelina called from across the room.

Alicia got up and started to walk over to Angelina. Katie glared at Angelina and called to Alicia when she was half way across the room, "Alicia!"

Alicia turned and started back to Katie. "Alicia!" Angelina called again.

"Alicia!" Katie snapped.

Alicia looked between them not knowing what to do. Thankfully Fred and George choose this time to return. Alicia walked over and grabbed Fred's and George's arms and pulled them along. "You," she said to Fred, "pacify her." She pushed Fred toward Angelina's bed.

"That's Fred," Katie said.

Alicia growled and grabbed him again and pushed him to Katie's bed. "Then pacify her. You, pacify her." She pushed George over to Angelina's bed.

Katie and Angelina looked down fighting back the urge to laugh. "Excuse me," Alicia said then left the Hospital Wing. A few moments later they heard a loud scream then Alicia came back into the room. "All better."

"What caused Spinnet to blow her top?" Fred asked.

"We may have made her mad," Katie mumbled.

Alicia pulled up a chair and sat it in the middle of the room. "Just to be clear, I am no one's side," she said.

Madam Pomfrey attended to Katie mumbling under her breath about how reckless children were theses days. Katie rolled her eyes as her lip healed and the swelling around her eye went down. Angelina looked better as well. "You're going to have to forgive each other eventually," Fred said to Katie.

"I know," Katie mumbled.

Fred was about to say something else, but there was a voice in the doorway, "Well, I thought there had been some kind of disturbance."

Professor Dolores Umbridge was standing in the doorway. She walked into the room, her heels clicking as she walked. "Oh, look everyone's favorite professor," George said. "Professor Toad-Face."

"What was that, Mr. Weasley?" she asked.

"Nothing," George said giving his most charming smile.

"I'll make this easy for you, which one of you started it?" Umbridge asked looking between Katie and Angelina. No one said anything. "If you don't tell me then both of you will get detention."

Angelina suddenly shot up out of her bed. "It was me," she said. "It was my fault. Katie didn't do anything."

Katie stared at her with her mouth open. What is she thinking? Katie thought. Suddenly her mind clicked. She couldn't let Angelina take the blame. "No, that's not-" The look Angelina gave her shut her up.

Fred lightly touched her arm. Katie looked up at him. He gave her a look that said don't fight her; we'll talk to her later. Katie nodded.

"What were you about to say Ms. Bell?" Umbridge asked.

Katie looked at Angelina before she spoke, "Nothing."

"Alright then, come with me Ms. Johnson," Umbridge said in a sweetly sickening voice. "Maybe there is hope for you yet, since you admitted to your crimes."

Angelina started to follow Umbridge, but George grabbed her arm. "Don't," he whispered. "You know what she'll do to you."

"George, let me go, you're in enough trouble as it is," Angelina replied.

"Angelina-"

"Let go," Angelina said. George dropped her arm and she followed Umbridge out of the room.

Katie sat in between the twins waiting for Angelina to get back. It was almost ten o'clock and she still wasn't back. Alicia was sitting on one of the chairs next to the fireplace. Suddenly the portrait hole swung open. Katie and Alicia jumped up while Fred and George's heads snapped up. Neville Longbottom walked into the room. "Sorry, forgot the password," he mumbled before walking up the stairs.

Katie and Alicia sighed and sat back down. The portrait hole opened again, this time to reveal a head of dark hair. Katie rushed over to Angelina and threw her arms around her. "Angie!" Alicia yelled before running over and hugging her.

"Ok, I can't breathe," Angelina gasped out.

"Sorry," Katie and Alicia said at the same time while they let go of her.

"So you've all just been sitting here waiting for me?" she asked, walking over to a chair and sitting down.

"How bad is it?" George asked as soon as she sat down.

"It's fine," she replied.

"Really, how is it?" Katie asked.

"You wanna see it, fine," Angelina said. Rolling up her sleeve, she revealed a very scared hand. 'I must not attack people' was written all over her hand.

Katie covered her mouth to keep from gasping. Alicia's eyes went wide. Fred and George just stared at her, not knowing what to say. "Happy?" she asked.

"Angelina, I'm so sorry," Katie said, moving to sit next to her. "This is all my fault."

Angelina rolled her eyes. "Don't blame yourself because I was being a arse."

Fred and George looked at Angelina stunned. Angelina Johnson rarely ever admitted she was wrong.

"W-what?" Katie said.

"I'm apologizing, you twit," Angelina said.

"Am I dead?" Katie asked.

"Har-de-har-har," Angelina said. "I'm going up to bed, ok? I'll see you guys later."

"Hey, Ange," Fred piped up. "Does this mean I'm forgiven, too?"

"It depends," Angelina said, heading toward the stairs. "Can you bring me applesauce?"

"How am I supposed to get up those bloody stairs?" he asked.

"You'll figure something out," Angelina said before walking up the stairs.

Little did they know, a young red-head was listen to their whole conversation.
