Chapter 10: The beginning of a relationship

Over the next few weeks, Reilly's acquaintanceship with Siera barely grew, but she wasn't outright rude and they both were friendly enough to each other. One day she decided to introduce Keyla to Siera. The magenta coloured monster knocked at the door just after noon on the following Saturday. Siera was just pulling on her boots as Reilly opened the door.

"Hey Reilly! So who am I here to meet?" Reilly grinned. "Keyla, this is Siera." Keyla turned and looked at her for a full minute without Siera looking up and her eyes grew wide. "Ohmygosh! You're Siera?! You're like, even prettier than Reilly! I didn't know that was even possible!-" Siera pushed herself off her bed with the heel of her boot and Reilly felt that jealousy wave again.

"-You're hair is so perfect! And what did you do with your wings!" Reilly shrugged at Siera's quirked eyebrow, "Siera, this is Keyla, my best friend. She's a bit…enthusiastic." Siera's lip lifted in the hint of a smile, "Yea, I can see that. Hey Keyla." Keyla grinned broadly, "Do you have a boyfriend?"

"What? Of course not! Do I look like I do? Because I can teach you to see me differently." Keyla held out her hands, "Just curious! Well, how many guys have asked you out?" Siera scoffed, "I don't count kid. Well, see you two later." She left the room and swung the door shut behind her.

The next day, Reilly noticed posters being hung up around the campus. A band was going to perform here. Instead of looking at the posters, she walked over to Siera who was ahead, "Siera, you know what band's going to perform?" She turned, "Yo Reilly, yea I know them. 'Fallen wings', good music." Reilly peered around Siera to see who she was talking to…

"Randy?" Siera spun. "Oh, hey Reilly", Reilly starred at them quizzically, "You know each other?" Siera grinned, "Yes actually. I was his older sisters best friend before…..", she bit her lip. Randy clutched his lower right arm, "…she passed on." He suddenly seemed close to tears. Siera put her arms around him in a sisterly hug.

Reilly covered her mouth, "I had no idea Randy even had an older sister." Siera glared at her to shut up, "He doesn't talk about it." When Randy went to his class, Reilly asked the question that really mattered to her, "Siera, are you and Randy going out? Were you ever?" Siera chuckled, "Nah, all yours kid. He's like a younger brother to me now that his sister's gone."

Reilly heaved a sigh of relief. Siera shook her head once more and walked off. The next day Randy met Reilly outside scaring class, "Hey Reilly!"Reilly smiled broadly, "Hi Randy" Randy grinned sheepishly at her and then, walking up to her said, "So, uh, you wanna go to the Fallen Wings concert with me?" Reilly wanted to clean her ears out to make sure she wasn't imagining.

He's just being nice, she thought, but then why is he nervous? "Of course I'll go with you!" Randy beamed and said, "So, I'll pick you up tomorrow around seven? The concert starts at seven thirty." Reilly nodded and said goodbye then went to tell Keyla. "Oh my god! Really? That's amazing! You two look so cute together!" Reilly and her chatted a while about what she should wear and the band itself, 'Fallen Wings'.

While Reilly was making her way back to her dorm, she suddenly thought she should tell Siera about it. See if she approved. She didn't know why but it felt like a must to tell her. When she entered the room Siera was laying on her bed with one wing hanging over the side of the bed and her headphones over her head. Reilly closed the door and Siera opened one eye to see who it was, then nodded to Reilly. Reilly bit her lip and motioned with her fingers for Siera to take the headphones off. She did and sat up.

Reilly didn't know how to start the conversation so she said, "What band are you listening to?" Siera raised an eyebrow, "Breaking Benjamin. What's with the interest kid, don't stall, what's going on?" Reilly smiled wearily, nothing gets past her. She told Siera about the whole thing and when she was finished Siera remained silent. Reilly grew nervous and tapped her foot on the ground anxiously.

"That's cool with me kid. Just stay out of trouble, and try not to gross me out with stories." Reilly blinked in surprise at the older monster. "Really? You're fine with it?" Siera rolled her eyes, "Yes. What do you think I just said?" Reilly smiled broadly. Then she remembered something, a file she had left at class and her eyes grew wide.

"Siera! Please come with me! I left my file at the scaring school!" Siera shrugged, "Sure kid." She removed her headphones and placed them on her bed then opened the door swiftly and stepped outside, followed by Reilly. She shut and locked the door then they both opened their wings and flew off in the direction of the school. They landed a few metres away and saw lots of monsters standing around and talking.

"You wait here, I'll get it." Said Reilly then ran inside. When she got back out she saw Johnny talking to Siera "-So how about you and me sometime? We'll go to the movies or something." Siera shifted her weight, "Right. That's gonna happen." He took her hand and grinned innocently, "Please?" Siera's eyes grew and anger flashed in her face. Her claws stretched outwards and caught Johnny's wrist, sinking into his flesh. She moved forward in the blink of an eye and held a claw under his chin, "Don't. Touch me." She let go and started walking, "Let's go kid!" She called over her shoulder.

Reilly looked dumbfounded at ROR, Javier was staring after her with respect in his eyes and Johnny was agape. Reilly grinned; she was beginning to like Siera more now.
