Ariel bounced on the balls of her feet as the ship approached land. She slithered through the crew making them laugh at her flushed cheeks and excited eyes. Killian watched her with amusment as she stared at the land coming closer and closer. She smiled at the crew as she passed them her skirts twirling around her ankles like the waves below. The had all grown quite attached to the firey little red headed girl. Not the way they had with Mila, treating her like a drinking companion rather than the woman she was. However they treated her as though she were a little sister they needed to look after. All except Smee who seemed to hardor a great disdain for her which he would not confide the reason for to Killian. Smee watched her with narrowed eyes at Killian's side his mouth twitching with unspoken words.
"Tell me what is it about our pretty little mermaid that has caused you to act like this?" Killian asked at last crooking his eye brow.
"I don't trust her captain." he said out of the corner of his mouth beady eyes still focused on the flash of red.
"Why?" he asked
"She's been on the deck past midnight, whispering to thin air."
"Whispering," Killian asked a small chuckle escaping her lips "My dear Will she can't speak at all let alone whisper. You must have had one to many bottles."
"I was as sober as a judge Captain." he said "And I'm telling you...the girl can speak."
Hook watched with sad eyes as Ariel rummaged around the camp gathering her things and putting them in a worn out bag hanging from her shoulders.
"What's with the face?" Emma asked out of no where making him jump. "Something happen between you two?"
Hook only sighed and smiled sadly at the blonde "If only I could tell you love," he said "but alas I don't know why she insists on hating me. I suppose she just loves to hate me."
Emma gave a small smile and punched him lightly on the arm "I'm sure she has a reason."
"Oh thank you my lady."
Emma winced at the pain in his sarcastic tone that reminded her way too much of what she sounded like when Mary Margret asked about Niel.
"I didn't mean it like that." Emma said trying to explain herself only to be dismissed by Hook with a simple I know.
Emma bit her lip as she watched Hook stagger off to help Mary Margret retrieve her bow and arrows from the tree limb she had hung them up on. She pulled her eyes away to look at Ariel who was throwing things out of the small hut. She fought with herself on weither or not to approach her or not. She looked towards Hook again who had his usual smile on that did not reach his eyes. Emma groaned and and shook herself before walking over to the red head.
Ariel froze as Emma rested against a tree near her and looked at her through narrowed blue eyes. "Good morning." she said polietly to Emma "How did you sleep?"
"Horribly," Emma admitted the knot in her chest loosening due to the warmth in the strange girls tone "The screaming kept me up most of the night."
Ariel looked up from the small dagger that she was placing in her bag with her eyes wide "You can hear the screams?" she asked
"Yeah," Emma said "Is that unusual?"
"Only the abandoned can hear the screams." Ariel said shrugging "I mean I know all about what happened to you...I just never realized how deeply that effected you."
"What do you mean?" Emma asked not knowing weither to be offended or slightly flattered.
"You just seem like a very strong girl."
"Appearances can be deceiving."
It was only for half a second but Emma caught the movement Ariel's eyes made to Hook who was currently laughing heartily at something embarassing that David had done with Mary Margret and Regina.
"Oh my dear lady," she said "you have no idea how right you are."
