Like I said before, I'm trying to get a few updates done. Though I found this 'lil guy hidden in my documents, named "AKKFXJDJVFD 7". You see why I'm so disorganized, I hope. . I'll see if I can recover another document^^
I've done a bit of editing to this chapter though, so that kinda counts as writing...R-Right? :D
...I'll let you decide.
My heart almost stopped beating at the sound of the chilling footsteps, I wanted to move, but my body wouldn't let me. It was as if my brain was telling me to wait and see who was outside. Of course, there was a high percent chance that this would result badly. I had no idea how many people were participating in the "game", and most of the people who I knew weren't playing were already dead.
A part of me was thinking that this person could be Hidan. We had not yet been given our recent report, so for all I knew, the silver-haired male could have been killed. I shivered at the thought of that, knowing Hidan was strong enough to survive.
My thoughts were interrupted by someone, revealed to be Sasori, tugging on my sleeve and pointing to one of the cupboards. We were both rather small-sized and could easily fit in a cupboard each. I nodded slowly, getting on my hands and knees with the red-head as we quickly crawled towards the worn but usable cupboards.
Before I could even open the cupboard, I jumped at the loud sound of someone kicking at the door. It was questionable whether they knew someone was inside or not.
"Hurry...!" Sasori whispered in a desperate tone, opening the cupboard to crawl inside. I seemed to be frozen yet again, staring at the vibrating door just meters away. "I said, hurry up...!" The red-head repeated with a determined scowl, attempting to push me into the cupboard, failing of course.
Just as the door swung open, the smaller male let out a slight whine, pouncing into the cupboard like a lion stalking its prey. I found it humorous, even at that terrifying moment. What added to it was the fact that the boy's butt was sticking out slightly, making it easily visible from the front door. Whoever was outside had a lot coming for them.
Weirdly enough, that humorous moment snapped me out of my frozen phase, though just as I was about to jump into the empty cupboard, the door swung open, revealing a very tall yet broad figure. We were definitely going to die.
"Who's in here?" The voice said harshly, before stepping further into the room. I prayed that they didn't see me get into the cupboard. "I saw you!" The masculine voice continued, before stepping closer again. "Come out, both of you!"
"T-There's only me, un...!" I responded, mentally slapping myself. I would rather one of us die, rather than both. Sasori had tried to help me hide, but I wasn't responsive enough. I remembered what the boy had said about wanting to get back to his parents too.
"Then who does that ass belong to?" The man bit back, followed by yet more steps. I knew the person was close due to the large shadow casting over me.
"Not me!" Sasori piped up, disappearing into the cupboard. I wanted to grab the boy by his ankles and throw him at the tall male in attempt to escape.
Though that would be cruel, wouldn't it?
"...Blondie, is that you?"
Well, I am blonde.
I gulped, slowly peering my head out of the cupboard, looking up. There in front of me was a huge, shark-like man. Kisame!
"Y-You, un!" I exclaimed, feeling slightly relieved. Slightly, because the man was still playing the game. He may have changed his mind after he had let me and Hidan go. For all I knew, he could have just killed my friend.
"You're not dead yet?" He asked, tilting his head in surprise. "That's weird, I would have thought you were long gone."
"Haven't you even been listening to the reports?" I frowned, crawling out of the cupboard to make the conversation less awkward. "There's still 20 people left, un."
"...I thought there would have been more."
I pursed my lips, looking down in a sad fashion. I would have thought there would have been a much easier way to settle this. Why couldn't everyone just refuse to participate? I then remembered Kakashi mentioning that we'd all immediately be killed if that was to happen.
"And who's this?" The tall male said, raising an eyebrow at Sasori, who's butt was still sticking out of the cupboard.
"This is Sasori, un." I stated, pointing to the butt. "...Come out, Sasori."
Hesitating a little, the red-head eventually crawled out backwards, sitting on the floor. The look Kisame gave him was typically terrifying. "What happened to your little friend?" The tall male asked, looking at me.
"He went ahead and left me, un. He should be back at some point. Have you seen him around?"
"Can't say I have." The male drawled, looking at Sasori again. "You're the squirt from the academy, aren't you?" The red-head nodded in reply, slowly.
"There's only 3 of us participating in the game- Me, Itachi and Pain." He stated, looking down for a moment. "They're both in different classes though, so I can't say I know them too well."
"Well, I'd like to know how much you fucked up in previous life to be chosen to participate in this." The male smirked, sitting on the table. "Good luck."
Kisame was strange. He behaved as if he knew what was going to happen next, as if he didn't seem at all bothered by taking away people's lives. I then remembered what Kakashi had said at the start of the game about Kisame and Orochimaru. "They're a bit dangerous". So, had he met them before? And why weren't they wearing any uniform?
"Hey, Kisame?" The blue-skinned man looked down at me, quirking an eyebrow. "What school do you attend?"
"Ah, I finished school a while back." He replied, shrugging. "I'm well past college now."
"How old are you then..?" Sasori asked, standing up.
"Twenty-four next week." Kisame smirked, shrugging.
"T-Then why are you...here, un?" I frowned. "I thought everyone here was a student."
Kisame chuckled, almost darkly. "I guess I should confess, right?" Me and Sasori nodded at the same time, wanting the man to continue. "I've participated in this game before."
"W-What do you mean, un...?"
"I won." He admitted in a simple tone. "My whole class participated, all killed, of course. I had no option but to fight, and I did."
"What was it like...?" Sasori then asked, leaning forward slightly. Kisame frowned at the boy in question. "Winning." The red-head continued. "What was it like?"
"It..." Kisame began, pondering. "It wasn't worth it. All those deaths, and it wasn't worth one bit of winning. Sometimes I even wish I had died back then. Livin' with the guilt's hard, y'know?"
"So..." I began, thinking. "You participated again?"
"What kind of fucking sicko d'you think I am?" The man glared, straightening his posture. "Of course I didn't want to participate. I was forced. One minute I was in my apartment, tending to my aquarium, and the next minute I was in some fucking classroom surrounded by a bunch of confused brats. At first I thought I was dreaming, having a flashback of some sort, but nope."
I felt bad for Kisame. Really bad. Surely this wasn't fair- Kakashi had said that if you win, you will return to your normal life. Why would he be forced into playing again? A part of me assumed that the man may have been lying, but another thought he was telling the truth. Even so, I felt great pity for the man. I then began to think what it would be like, having to live with the thought that you had taken an innocent person's life. I don't think I'd be able to cope with it all.
"...And do you plan to win again?" The red-head asked, staring up at the huge man.
"Of course. My fish need to be fed." He smirked, shrugging his shoulders. I noticed a look of fear wave over the shorter boy's face, and I imagined me looking the same. Did this mean me and Sasori were going to be killed by this man. "...So...You're going to kill us...?"
"I was planning on it, trust me." Kisame shrugged again, tapping his fingers against the table. "But like I said before, there's a way off this island."
"We're not killing ourselves, un." I sighed, looking at the door with a frown.
"I never said that." Kisame chuckled. "There's another way, which involves surviving. For more than one person, too."
I looked up, back at the man. What? Surely he had to be joking. "What do you mean?" I asked, now curious. "Is it safe?"
"Well, it's quite risky. I haven't tried it myself yet, which is why I want you both to try it with me. You in?"
"...That all depends what the plan is, un."
It's a good thing I can still remember what that plan was, otherwise I'd be screwed and this story's plot would be even more confusing...^^"
Sorry it wasn't the longest of chapters, I'm not really one to write 5000+ word chapters at a time.
I hope you enjoyed, please review^^
