A/N: Yes, I finally updated! Please don't hate me. I know it's been a while. I've had a bad case of writer's block with this story plus a ton of schoolwork, so I've stayed pretty busy. So, I realized that the way I had originally planned this story out to go made little to no sense. And the alternative I came up with is pretty wacky too. So either way, just go with it lol.

Jason awoke to the sound of a baby's cries, and the subsequent efforts of the child's mother to get him to stop. Rubbing his eyes, he threw the blanket off of him, and sat up on the couch.

Sam appeared with the baby in her arms, and gave him an apologetic look. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up. I was just going to get Danny something to eat. He was getting hungry."

"No, it's fine", he replied. "What time is it?"

"8:30", she answered, shifting the baby into her other arm. "How did you uh...sleep?"

"Fine."

She nodded slowly. "That's good. You know, you didn't have to sleep on the couch."

"I think I did", he said quietly. Sam looked at him sadly, and then proceeded to fix her son's breakfast.

Jason sighed, and ran his fingers through his hair. He had just woke up, and the atmosphere was already one of tension. Granted, it was mostly his fault.

The night before had been rough. But she just wouldn't quit! She knew that he didn't remember being married to her, and yet, she continued to push him. He understood that he was technically her husband, but she needed to understand that he was confused as hell about where he stood with her and Elizabeth. Not that he would actually talk to her about Elizabeth.

Great. Now, he had Elizabeth on the brain. As if he didn't think about her enough as it was. He would go see her today. He needed to see her.

But first, he supposed he had an obligation to the rest of the town.

"Robin, huh?", Elizabeth smiled as she sifted through some files.

"Yeah", Patrick answered, completely confident in his decision. "I mean, you know how much I care about Sabrina. But Robin's the one I'm meant to be with. I think I've always known that."

"Well, I'm happy for you guys."

"Me too. I just hated hurting Sabrina like that, you know?"

She nodded, feeling sympathy for the young nurse. Sabrina was probably devastated. She made a mental note to reach out to her when she saw her next. Hopefully, she would be able to move on and put Patrick behind her.

"It'll take a while, but she'll be fine. I know how much it hurts to be rejected. But life has to go on, right?", Elizabeth stated, touching her head in a vain effort to make her latest headache go away.

"Still hurting, huh?", Patrick remarked. "Are you ever gonna tell me how that happened?"

"Sam came in here with Jason, and I started freaking out because...", she trailed off as she looked around to see if there was anyone within hearing range. "...because she didn't know that I knew that Jason was alive, and I'm not a good actress. So, I decided to fake a fainting spell so I wouldn't have to act."

He couldn't help but chuckle. "I give you props for creativity on that one. But why didn't you just act surprised?"

"Oh, you mean like you?"

Patrick shrugged. "I'm a doctor. Acting surprised to see a dead person is not in the job description."

Jason slowly made his way to the doorway of Sonny's office. He could hear the mob boss arguing with a woman, whose voice he instantly recognized as Carly's. Well, at least he could knock out two birds with one stone.

Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door slightly ajar, and there they were. Sonny looking annoyed as hell. Carly still ranting about something that he clearly didn't care about. Neither of them noticed that he was standing there until he had the door completely open.

Sonny looked in his direction, and then turned back to Carly. It apparently took him a moment to comprehend what he saw. Then, he looked back at Jason again. This time, his eyes widened in shock.

Carly appeared annoyed that her ex-husband wasn't even listening to her at this point. "I swear, Sonny. Every word I say goes in one ear and straight out the other."

Sonny didn't respond. He just continued to stare at Jason, trying to figure out if he was real or some kind of cruel illusion.

"What the hell are you even looking at?", Carly asked as she turned around. Then, her own eyes grew large.

"It's me", Jason spoke. They just stood there, frozen. Unable to understand what they were seeing, how it was even possible.

"Do you see him too?", Carly finally whispered, her voice shaking.

"Yeah." Sonny slowly made his way to Jason until he was standing right in front of him. Then, he spoke in a quiet, deadly voice. "Who are you and what kind of game are you trying to play with us?"

Oh, this was just wonderful. They thought he was an imposter too. At least with Sam, he only suffered a slap in the face. Sonny, on the other hand, could take him out at any given moment. He wasn't carrying a weapon. He just assumed that Sam was the only one crazy enough to think he wasn't who he said he was.

"I am Jason", he said quietly, looking his former boss directly in the eyes. "Ask me anything. I can prove it."

"Of course you can", Carly spoke up. "You would know everything about Jason's life if you were trying to pass yourself off as him."

He turned to her. "Carly, you know me. Both of you know me. But if you don't believe me, I can get a DNA test. Let me prove it to you."

Carly shook her head furiously. "No. No way. Jason was shot, okay? He drowned! And if you think for one second that I'm going to buy this, then you better think again."

"Carly", Sonny said, putting his hand up to calm her. "Let him take the DNA test. We'll see if he's really telling the truth. And if he's lying, there will be severe consequences."

"You're buying this?", she asked in an exasperated fashion. "How many DNA tests ever come out correct in this town, Sonny? He could easily get one faked."

"I'll make sure that nobody touches this one", he replied in a calm but confident tone.

Jason nodded. "I'll have one set up."

"No", Sonny uttered, taking a step towards him. "I'll have it set up."

Jason couldn't get out of there fast enough. He hated this. Having everyone look at him like he was some kind of imposter. What else could he do besides offer to take a DNA test? Though he was getting quite tired of going to the hospital. At the moment, he couldn't figure out the purpose of informing the town that reports of his death had been greatly exaggerated. His life was better when no one knew.

"Because Elizabeth told you to", a voice inside his head reminded him. And he was willing to do what she said because she was usually right. But as unlikely as it seemed, he was starting to think she could be wrong about this.

Since he had already told Sonny and Carly, he figured he might as well go tell everyone else. It wasn't like he could back out now. He approached the Quartermaine mansion next. Taking a deep breath, he rang the doorbell.

"I got it, Alice!", he heard Monica yell. Well, there would be no beating around the bush.

The door opened, and his mother's face came into view. It took only a moment before her eyes became as wide as saucers. Oh, please God don't faint.

She didn't, but she came awfully close. "J-Jason?", she stammered.

"Hey, mom", he said softly, offering her a small smile.

Monica's eyes widened even further. "I don't understand. You can't be...you're dead, Jason. You're dead! Oh my God, I can't do this again!"

Jason took her trembling hand and brought it to his cheek. "I'm real, I promise." God, if his own mother didn't believe him, he didn't know what he was going to do.

To his surprise, she latched onto him tightly and began to cry against his chest. "Please God, let this be real. Please."

"It is", he assured her.

After a moment, Monica slowly drew back. "But how? How can you be alive? Jason, you were shot! And you drowned!"

He shook his head. "I don't know. I don't remember any of that."

"Then, where have you been this whole time?", she asked, her expression still one of shock.

"It doesn't matter", Jason said quietly.

"The hell it doesn't!"

"Greece", he sighed, knowing she wouldn't let this go. "I woke up one day in a prison cell. I don't know how I got there or why she wanted me there. But I'm okay now. That's all that matters."

"Wait, wait, wait", Monica said, holding her hand up. "She who?"

He let out a deep sigh, remembering the terrible day he saw her face on the other side of those bars. "Helena Cassadine."

Elizabeth paced back and forth in front of Jason's apartment. She had to have been doing this for at least ten minutes. She needed to see him. But she knew Sam would probably be there too, and the last thing she wanted was for her to get suspicious. It would be smarter to stay as far away from Jason as humanly possible, at least for the time being.

But...wouldn't it be even stranger if she did that? Sam knows that she and Jason have a long history together. And he's just came back from the dead. Of course she would want to see him! It would be more suspicious if she didn't drop by. Finally, she brought herself to rap on the door.

A few moments later, it opened. And who else but Sam would be on the other side? She knew this was a good possibility, but damn if she wasn't hoping it was Jason.

The other woman looked a bit surprised. "Elizabeth. Hi."

"Hi", she replied, forcing a hint of a smile.

"Oh. You're probably here to see Jason", Sam said, looking uncomfortable as she said it.

Elizabeth nodded as Sam let her inside. "I still can't believe he's really alive."

"Yeah, me either", the brunette responded, shutting the door behind her. "Oh, is your head okay?"

"Oh, yeah", she answered, knowing full well that Sam didn't care about that. "That was embarrassing, but I'll be fine."

"No, I fainted when I first saw him too", Sam informed her as she sat down on the couch. "I just can't believe that after everything I've been through, I got my miracle. My husband's home."

Elizabeth couldn't help but sense a smugness in the other woman's voice. Like because she had been through a lot, she was entitled to a miracle. What about her miracle? Sure, she felt bad for Sam when Danny was sick. But she had dealt with a sick child too, and she had lost one of her babies. Yet, there was never a miracle waiting for her.

She bit her lip. "Right. So, can I see him? Is he here?"

"He's out right now", Sam said with a sigh. "There's a lot of people he needs to see so...I don't know when he'll be back."

"Oh, okay. Well, I can just come back later then", she said quickly. She knew this was a bad idea. And Jason wasn't even there.

"You don't have to leave", Sam said, just as she was turning to. "I could kind of use some company right now if you wanted to wait for Jason."

Reluctantly, Elizabeth sat down in the nearest chair. She didn't particularly want to hear about how happy Sam was to be with Jason again. But at the same time, she was a bit curious to see Sam's take on this whole situation.

"I bet Jason's happy to be home", she remarked, weighing the other woman's reaction. It suggested otherwise.

"Yeah, he is", Sam said, her words contradicting the look on her face. "He's still a little confused about some things, but we're working through it."

Elizabeth nodded. "What kind of things?"

Slowly, Sam stood up and approached the mantle. She picked up their wedding picture, forcing a smile. Then, she turned to Elizabeth. "He doesn't remember marrying me. He doesn't remember Danny. He doesn't remember most of our life together."

"Wow. That must be...difficult for you. For both of you."

"A little", Sam admitted, placing the picture back down. "We'll get through it though. That's what me and Jason do. We have a ton of things thrown at us, and we always come out stronger."

"You love him", Elizabeth said, stating the obvious. Her feelings for Jason made her feel guilty. He was married. Sam was his wife. It would be morally wrong for her to disrespect that.

Sam eyed her with a look that she couldn't quite define, and then she spoke. "So do you."

"Helena Cassadine?", Monica repeated as they walked into the living room of the Quartermaine mansion. "Jason, she's dead."

"I know, thank God. One of her goons let me out afterwards."

His mother sat down on the couch, clearly confused. "But that doesn't make any sense. Helena's main objective in life was causing havoc to the Spencers. How would holding you prisoner be of any benefit to her?"

"I don't know", he admitted.

And that was the truth. Helena had never told him why he was there, and that wasn't because he hadn't asked. But now, he just wanted to forget the whole ordeal. The witch was dead anyway, and any answers of why she did it had died with her. Then, his eyes widened with a startling realization. What if she was the reason he couldn't remember the past few years of his life? Hadn't she done something like that to Lucky before? The woman was certainly capable.

And if she was the reason his memories were lost, she would be the only one who knew how to get them back. Which meant he was absolutely screwed. He would never remember Sam. Elizabeth would never give him another chance because she was so afraid of getting hurt again. Apparently, for good reason. He sank down onto the couch next to his mother, having gone completely numb inside.

"Jason? Did she do something to you?", Monica asked with a terror-ridden voice. The whole town knew the horrors that Helena Cassadine was capable of inflicting on people.

Jason fought back the tears that were shining in his eyes. "I'll be fine."

Elizabeth's gaze dropped to the floor. "What do you mean?"

Sam shrugged. "You love him too. I'm not naive, Elizabeth. I know you and Jason have a history together. You've been a big part of his life for a long time. You had a child with him; you lost a child with him. I know he really cares about you."

She nodded, worried at where this conversation was headed. "I care about him too. But if you think I'm some kind of a threat to your marriage-"

"Oh, I know you're not", Sam said, cutting her off. "Because that's all in the past. Look, Jason is going to be friends with who he wants to be friends with. You should know that better than anyone. And like I said, I know he cares about you. I just don't want there to be this weird animosity between us."

Elizabeth couldn't hold back a surprised expression. Sam didn't want there to be animosity between them? It was a little late for that in her opinion. But she could take the high road.

"I don't either."

"Good", Sam replied as she stood up. "I'm just going to go check on Danny. I'll be right back."

She just nodded, letting out a groan as Sam disappeared upstairs. A woman that had never shown her any kind of compassion or respect whatsoever had managed to make her feel guilty. But why should she feel guilty? She wasn't going after Jason. That didn't mean she didn't want to be with him though.

"I am so confused", she said to herself, leaning her head back hopelessly against the chair.

I know, no Liason in this chapter. Soon though! He just has to see all of these people first. And why in the heck would Helena want to keep Jason prisoner? Theories, anyone?
