No Klaus in this chapter. I was in the mood for some Uncle Elijah. :)

If Elijah Mikaelson got tired he would blame his dark thoughts on that. However, being an Original and a vampire he did not tire easily if at all. The previous few days had been taxing, yes, but hardly worse than anything they had faced before. So why was he thinking about Davina? The young witch had been a handful from the start but brave in the end. Her personality had been a rarity among witches Elijah had encountered over the years. Papa Tunde was one he had wished had stayed dead the first time. Having him resurrected a few years back had nearly destoryed his family. Elijah glanced over at Rebekah he could still see her laying in the warlock's pantagon trap. Unable to move, unable to protect herself. Still as death. Elijah had thought he'd lost his sister for a brief moment that day. If it hadn't been for the fore knowledge that Papa Tunde was drawing power from Rebekah...Elijah repressed a shudder at the memory.
Perhaps the memories were surfacing because of the vigil he and Rebekah shared that night. That duty was one of the few things they'd done together in months. Both busy with other projects. Through the centuries the Mikaelson motto had been Always and forever. Celeste had used that against him. Making Elijah choose who to save. Fortunately Elijah hadn't had to make that choice. That was another vision that visited Elijah on the rare occasions when he did sleep. Hayley in the flames of the magic spell. Trapped in a place Elijah had thought she'd be safe. She'd been betrayed by people she'd trusted as he had. Everyone in the Mikaelson family had walked away to tell the tale that day. Elijah still wasn't sure how.
"If you need to stretch or something."Rebekah offered as she glanced at her brother. "I think she's going to sleep for awhile."
Elijah pushed himself away from the wall and moved toward Rebekah gently touching her left arm.
"Thank you. I won't be gone long."Elijah stated.
Rebekah nodded and Elijah left his niece's room.
After walking the grounds around the house for ten minutes Elijah went back inside. He found himself in the kitchen though he'd had no intention to go there. He smiled seeing Hayley putting a few dishes in the dishwasher. The room was otherwise empty.
"Is Emily okay?"Hayley asked worriedly as she straightened.
Elijah smiled and nodded. "She's sleeping; Rebekah's with her. I needed to stretch my legs for a bit. Where's Nikklaus?"
"He didn't say directly but I had a feeling he's getting something to eat."Hayley replied as she leaned back against the sink.
"How are you?"Elijah asked as he stepped closer.
Hayley glanced at him and Elijah met the werewolf's gaze. Their romantic relationship may not have been fated to last but Elijah still cared for Hayley; always would. She was family.
"Better."Hayley responded tiredly. "Food helped get rid of the headache."
"Good."Elijah acknolweged. "Something else is troubling you; what is it?"
Hayley sighed. "Emily changed on her own without the moon. I had hoped she wouldn't have to endure that pain. Plus I don't want her to torment herself if she hurts someone when she's a wolf….before she learns to control it."
"This is uncharted territory."Elijah replied solemnly. "Few supernatural children survive birth. But I have no doubt Emily will have a wonderful happy childhood."
"As much of one as she can."Hayley confirmed.
"She has you and Niklaus to guide her as well as Rebekah and I."Elijah stated softly. "You do not realize how much I have looked forward to being an uncle since it was something I didn't think possible."
Hayley nodded and touched Elijah's left hand briefly. "You're a wonderful uncle. If you don't mind, Elijah continuing looking after Emily? I need to lay down for awhile."
"Get some rest.I'll let Klaus know where you are when he returns."Elijah promised.
Hayley left and Elijah made a mental note to talk to his brother about Hayley's concerns. He knew Klaus probably thought he had everything well in hand but they needed to come up with a plan in regards to Emily's unique abilities. Elijah had made a promise to his niece long before she was born that she would have his protection and loyalty. He would uphold that promise no matter what. Elijah left the kitchen and returned to Rebekah and Emily. His niece was still sleeping peacefully and Elijah resumed his vigil.
Always and forever.
