'Please Klaus...he's my son.'
The mind was a funny thing. Klaus mused as he stood looking out the bedroom window at three a.m. Carol Lockwood was hardly the first parent he'd killed. The Lockwoods weren't the first family he'd destroyed. So why was he remembering that particular kill? Perhaps it was the fact that he'd taken three slugs from Damon Salvatore because of it?
"Have you been up all night?"
Klaus smiled as he turned to face the young werewolf sharing his bed. Hayley blinked sleepily as she pushed herself into a sitting position.
"Technically I do not require sleep."Klaus pointed out.
"Klaus..."Hayley protested.
The Hybrid sat down on his side of the bed and took Hayley's left hand in his right and squeezed it. This domestic normalcy was still new to Klaus. Not that he hadn't attempted it once or twice over the centuries. None of those had lasted or had felt real like this union. He was sure Emily was a part of that; strengthening he and Hayley's bond more than anything else could.
"I was thinking about the Lockwoods."Klaus confessed. "What our daughter will think when she learns of my past."
Hayley reached up and touched Klaus's face so he was looking at her.
"My past isn't pretty either."Hayley stated quietly. "I betrayed Tyler too."
"Not exactly the same luv."Klaus replied.
"I sacrificed his pack."Hayley continued. "I knew you wouldn't kill them gently."
"You did what you needed to in order to survive."Klaus said."That's the difference between you and I. Some people don't enjoy being a vampire but I embraced the beast; was drunk on the power."
"You and your family have also done a lot of good."Hayley stated. "We'll tell Emily that too."
"Finding a few good deeds among hundreds of kills doesn't balance the scales."Klaus replied darkly. "I fear our daughter will not see the good in me as you have."
"I don't believe that."Hayley said firmly as she withdrew her hand from his face and wrapped both of Klaus's hands in hers. "She's part of us. We'll teach her that the world isn't perfect. That good and evil exist."
"I love you, little wolf."Klaus murmured as he leaned in to kiss Hayley.
As their lips met Klaus felt the werewolf smile. He wasn't sure if it was because of the nickname or of the admittance of feelings. He knew he didn't tell her often enough. It was hard for Klaus to trust this bond; this union. So much wrapped up in one beautiful...correct that two beautifal people. Deepening the kiss Klaus lowered Hayley to the bed. They were awake the rest of the night and Klaus could tell Hayley didn't mind the lack of sleep.
