Dani was freaking out. Santana's Nationals was really moved to LA? That's what it sounded like to her.

It was after school, so it'd been a couple hours since Santana texted her, but she finally answered.

To Santana- If you say LA, I might pass out while driving.

From Santana- So... do you want me to not say it's in LA?

To Santana- Don't be such a smartass. Is it in LA?

From Santana- YES! I AM SO HAPPY!

To Santana- So excited! I'm so coming to see it now, for sure!

From Santana- I can't wait! So... you out of school?

The ended up video chatting for the rest of the day, and then they finally stopped when Santana said that she had to go to sleep. Although this distance was going to suck ass, Dani knew now that it was worth it, and that they would get through it. In the end, it would all be worth it.

Anna called Dani as soon as Dani hung up with Santana, and Dani answered it immediately. "Hey," she greeted into the phone.

"Hey girl hey!" Anna exclaimed. "What are you doing Friday?"

"Probably video chatting with Santana," Dani admitted lamely with a laugh. "Why?"

"We have to hang out. You were gone forever, and then you were back and depressed. And now you're finally happy and in love and I want to hear everything for real!" Anna exclaimed.

Dani blushed. "Fine."

"Yay!" Anna exclaimed. "I texted Santana earlier, by the way. She seems like a lot of fun."

"She's amazing," Dani replied.

"Honey, I can practically see your dreamy eyes and now, you're blushing, I can tell," Anna predicted.

Dani was in deed blushing. Anna knew her too well. "Hey, what can I say?"

"Everything, on Friday, when we hang out! Well, I gotta go! See you tomorrow, girlie!" Anna exclaimed.

They hung up and then Dani sighed, smiling. Despite the fact that she would only see her girlfriend twice in the next couple of months, she was in a good place. After high school, she was going to live in the same town as her girlfriend. She had a great friend, a mom who would finally love her for who she was. She was looking into a bright future.

She was probably happier than she'd ever been in her entire life.

SSS

The next few weeks went by agonizingly slow for Santana. Sure, being able to video chat and text with Dani everyday was great, but it wasn't the same not being able to feel her smooth skin or kiss her soft lips.

Anna had texted Santana a lot, too, which the Latina thought was pretty awesome. Actually, Anna was kind of hilarious, so it was a lot of fun texting her and getting to know her. She figured it would help for when she went down there; she would practically already know Anna.

Anna seemed to approve of her as well, which was important since she was Dani's best friend.

Dani and Santana were both extremely excited for Nationals, since it'd been moved to LA. Unfortunately, the only time they would really be able to see each other was if Dani came backstage before or after the competition. Mr. Shue made it clear as Nationals approached that there would be no sneaking out or leaving, because they would have to practice, practice, practice.

As annoying as that was, Santana was excited all the same. She was going to be able to look into the audience and see her girlfriend smiling up at her. That was pretty freaking amazing if you asked her.

For Nationals, there was a solo, a girl number and then a group number. Mr. Shuester had decided to keep up their routine of highlighting the girls, and the guys honestly really didn't seem to care, because they got to sing most of the group number.

Rachel and Santana had the most lines in the girls number though, and Santana was glad that Mr. Shue was finally recognizing her powerful voice. When Nationals was just a week away, Rachel invited Santana over so that they could practice after school.

A year earlier, and Santana would've snorted at the insanity of the idea, but now she readily agreed. She liked talking to Rachel, because the shorter girl never really judged her for anything that she did, even if it was being a bitch. Plus, she would never forget how Rachel had been there for her when she was going through shit.

So after school on that Monday, Rachel drove Santana to her house. "Are you excited to see Dani again?" Rachel asked with a knowing smile.

Santana sighed happily. "Hell yes. Even if its only for a few minutes, it'll just be so nice to see her again without a screen in between us."

"I honestly don't know how you can do the long distance, but I'm glad you can. I cannot even imagine doing that with Finn," Rachel admitted.

"It's tough, but it's better than the alternative while she's in LA," Santana pointed out.

"True," Rachel agreed.

They got to Rachel's house and decided to start with food, obviously. Rachel cut up some strawberries and they sat in her kitchen dipping the pieces into sugar. "What do you think of the girls piece we're doing?" Santana asked to fill the quiet.

"I like it a lot, actually," Rachel admitted. They were singing Crazy Kids by Kesha, and it was a pretty awesome song. Santana had already known it by heart before they decided on it. Although, when they did decide on it, she had a little bit of a melancholy feeling, because Brittany used to love Kesha. But she pushed it away, because she loved the song and wanted to do it justice.

"Same here," Santana replied.

They went down to Rachel's basement to practice their parts of the song, and then Rachel asked Santana for tips on her solo. That one surprised Santana a lot, and it surprised her even more when Rachel admitted, "You know, Santana, you deserve some of these solos I'm always getting. Your voice in incredible, and I don't see how Mr. Shue doesn't see it. Next year, we're going to have to split them or something, because it's a crime for you not to be able to get a solo on stage."

Santana was too stunned to speak for a moment, but she finally found her voice. "Thank you, Rach, that means a lot. You really are the best singer in there, though."

Rachel smiled. "Well, maybe you can take sectionals next year and I'll take regionals ad nationals," she suggested with a chuckle. "I'm gonna hug you now, okay?"

"Okay," Santana replied with a laugh, and Rachel gave her a quick hug.

Rachel drove Santana home when they were done rehearsing, and Santana immediately video called her gorgeous girlfriend, who answered instantly. "Hey, babe," Santana greeted. "Guess what happened to me today."

"What?" Dani asked her with a wide smile.

"Rachel Berry told met hat I deserve more solos," Santana told Dani, before feigning a dorky gasp.

Dani quirked up an eyebrow. "That was nice of her. I agree one hundred percent, of course. Your voice is literally perfect." Santana felt a blush spread across her cheeks.

"Thanks," she muttered with a small smile. "How was your day?"

"Pretty good. I think Anna is plotting something, though," Dani replied.

"What kind of something?" Santana wondered.

Dani shrugged. "I have no idea, but every time she looked at me, she had this suspicious smile on her face."

"If she kills you, I'm killing her," Santana stated.

Dani let out a loud laugh and then shook her head. "I'm pretty sure she's not going to kill me, babe."

"Just putting that out there," Santana said with a grin. "I'm so excited for this weekend."

"Me too," Dani agreed, returning Santana's wide smile. "You still not going to tell me what you all are singing?"

"Nope. It's a surprise," Santana insisted. Dani gave the Latina her best pout, but Santana laughed and shook her head. "Nope. Not gonna work."

"Damn it," Dani muttered, smirking. "I guess it only works without a screen in between us."

"Mija!" came Santana's mom's voice from downstairs. Santana pouted at her girlfriend.

"Mami is home. I have to go, babe," Santana told Dani sadly.

"Okay," Dani replied. "Call me when you can. I love you, baby!"

"Love you, too!"

As she hung up, Santana smiled. She felt happy. Truly, genuinely happy.
