Ramon hated the snow. It was cold, wet, and got him sick on occasions.
Ramon had gotten back from Puerto Rico and was greeted by a massive snow storm in Gotham that resulted in the school's winter break being extended.
The last thing Ramon wanted to do was to go outside in the freezing snow.
"Hey, Ramon! Let's build a snowman!"
However, Ramon could never say 'no' to Athena.
"Sure." Ramon grinned, and the two started to pack the snow together, then roll it into a larger ball.
The two continued stacking the giant mounds of snow on top of each other, and then smoothed it out.
"We need to give him a face." Athena stated and then started looking for objects, Ramon joining her in the search.
Ramon understood that this was the first year that Athena saw snow, so naturally she wanted to play in it. There was a time when he was small that he enjoyed playing in the bitter cold as well.
Athena quickly wanted to do everything involving snow. Building snow men, making snow angels, snow ball fights, and going sledding.
And Ramon would follow along with Athena like he was enjoying the time.
"These should make good eyes." Athena smiled as she held up two different pieces of loose cement.
Ramon found a piece of scrap metal that made a decent mouth, and Athena found the top of a broken soda bottle that made a good nose. To top it off, Athena placed a scarf and a baseball hat on the snowman.
"What should we name him?" Ramon questioned.
"We name snowmen too?" Athena inquired. Apparently, Dick hadn't explained that to her.
"Yeah." Ramon grinned. "So, what do you want to name him?"
"Hmmmm." Athena hummed looking at the snowman, then smiled. "I think he looks like a Lorenzo." She informed.
Ramon looked at the snowman and nodded. It did look like a Lorenzo.
"So now Lorenzo the Snowman is born." Ramon beamed happily.
After the snowman was built, the two went to a high hill in Gotham, carrying a sled with them.
Ramon examined how steep the hill was and immediately wished that Athena wasn't such a daredevil.
"Hop on, Ramon." Athena smiled. Ramon muttered a quick prayer and did the sign of the cross on his chest, then jumped on the sled behind Athena.
Thus ensued the most terrifying ten seconds of Ramon's life. He screamed in horror as they sped down the hill while Athena giggled in pure delight.
They came to a slow at the bottom of the hill and Ramon had to hold back vomiting due to the anxiety the ride down put him in.
"That was great!" Athena exclaimed, but before she could suggest going again, she sneezed hard enough to send herself a bit into the air.
Ramon smiled at her, pulling her down from the air gently.
"I think it's time that we head inside." He grinned. Athena nodded and followed Ramon back to his house, where his mother had prepared hot chocolate with a peppermint stick in it for them.
"Thanks Mrs. Colón." Athena smiled. She and Ramon were sitting on the couch, their wet jacket socks and shoes left to dry at the door. The two were bundled in a blanket in front of the television.
"Not a problem dear." The woman grinned. Ramon pulled out several movies and they settled to watch Tangled.
Before Rapunzel even left her tower, Athena was asleep, laying across Ramon's lap. It wasn't that long before Ramon passed out too.
Ramon might have hated playing in the snow, however, with Athena, he supposed that it was tolerable.
