A/N: The fact that if I wanted to make my chapters really long, all I'd need to do is write a lot in the author notes and then hey presto, long chapters, is so weird to me.
Disclaimer: I don't own it! Not even a smidgeon!
Yuri decided to try sleeping on the sofa in the end. When Flynn woke up the next morning, the sun wasn't very high in the sky. Even the birds were still pretty much asleep. His side was throbbing painfully, so he decided to just grab a drink of water before attempting to go back to sleep.
Getting out of the bed - it was weird sleeping in the huge bed - he quietly opened the door so as not to disturb anyone else. Heading to the kitchen, he quickly poured himself a glass of water and grabbed some painkillers, easily gulping them down before lowering the glass back on the side and walking out of the kitchen.
He glanced towards the sofa, blinking as he realised Yuri wasn't on it. Looking around in confusion - and a little bit worried - he suddenly realised that there was a little lump in the corner of the room shuffling uncomfortably.
Frowning, he walked over to it. He reached down and pulled the blanket back a little, Yuri looking back up at him in surprise.
"What are you doing?" asked Flynn.
"...Trying to sleep."
"And the reason you're off the sofa is..."
"It's really, really, really uncomfortable."
"Aren't you cold?"
"Freezing."
Flynn looked at him a moment, then glanced around for a clock. Eventually spotting one on the table, he realised it was only just past four. Almost two hours earlier than Flynn himself usually got up.
He looked back at the tired figure sitting infront of him, then sighed.
"Come on," he muttered, turning and heading back towards his room.
"Huh?"
"I said come on. My bed's comfortable, at least."
"Oh...um, are you sure?"
"Does it really matter at this point? There's no reason for you to get no sleep."
Yuri hesitated, then stood up, following him. He waited until Flynn had carefully climbed in, wincing a couple of times, before slowly getting under the covers himself. For a while the two of them lay there, embarrassed that they were even in the same bed, but eventually exhaustion overcame Yuri's hesitancy and he fell asleep, snoring lightly.
Flynn glanced at him, going a little red before closing his eyes, trying to get to sleep as well.
Raven yawned as he got out of his bed, wishing he could just sleep all day. He stumbled out into the living room, glancing towards the sofa and frowning as he realised Yuri wasn't on it. He saw the discarded blanket in the corner of the room and shrugged, heading to the kitchen.
When he eventually came out eating a slice of toast, texting on his mobile, and then realised Yuri still wasn't there, he actually felt a little niggle of worry.
He checked the other rooms, but Yuri wasn't in any of them. Pausing outside Flynn's room, he considered before shrugging and pushing the door open. He poked his head round the edge, looking around, then blinked before smirking as he saw the two boys.
Flynn lay on his uninjured side, face in Yuri's shoulder. Yuri also lay facing towards Flynn, one arm curled protectively around him. He seemed to almost be avoiding the injured area of Flynn's side, and Raven gave a quiet chuckle before backing out of the room and closing the door silently behind him.
He'd have to explain to his higher-ups what was going on. The fact that Mr Macindaw had out-right assaulted the two boys unprovoked, threatening them with firearms and seriously injuring one of them, should be enough to make them see past the amount of money they'd been given and start doing their jobs properly. Of course, the few he could trust would also fight for his cause, and the kids should get justice; still, it felt too little too late.
Flynn having used a gun was a bit of a complication...but it was in self-defense, and the twat he'd shot was still alive, so it wasn't like they could give him a large sentence. Injured as he was, though, Raven definitely didn't want him to suddenly be carted off to jail.
...He was only thinking in circles. He needed to get into the office and sort this all out before it got any worse. Quickly getting changed, he left a short note for the two boys before heading out, locking the door behind him.
Flynn felt too comfortable to actually wake up, but the sound of the doorbell ringing kept disturbing him. Finally, he blinked his eyes open, yawning.
Then stiffened.
He pulled back from Yuri, going red. Yuri jolted awake from the sudden motion, looking around in confusion, then heard the doorbell and stumbled out of the bed, heading to the door and leaving Flynn to his mental breakdown.
Yuri quickly read through the note Raven had left, grabbing the spare key from the specified area before unlocking the door. He glanced out before relaxing as he recognised Judith.
"Hey, come in," he said, stepping aside.
"Good morning, Yuri. How are you?"
"Fine thanks."
"And how's Flynn coming along?"
"I think he's okay...He kinda leapt away from me a few seconds ago, but I don't think he injured himself..."
"Well, let's go take a look, shall we? Oh, and could you wait outside please, Yuri?"
"Eh? Well, sure...I'll just get some breakfast I guess," he said with a shrug, wandering to the kitchen. Judith watched him go before walking to Flynn's room, knocking before entering.
Flynn looked up from where he was sitting on the edge of the bed, giving a vague smile as he spotted Judith.
"Good morning," he greeted.
"Good morning. How are you feeling?"
"My side was hurting a bit earlier, but I took some painkillers. It's not so bad at the minute, but it isn't great either."
"Mmm...Yuri said you pulled away quite violently a few seconds ago? Are you sure you didn't make it worse?"
"H-He did? Oh.."
Judith raised an eyebrow, before making sure Yuri wasn't around before shutting the door and sitting on the bed beside Flynn. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Flynn bit his lip, then sighed. "When I woke up, I was kind of..hugging Yuri...I let him sleep in my bed because the sofa was too uncomfortable for him, but..."
"Why is that so odd? It's a natural thing for a human to seek out another human's presence instinctively when they are nearby."
"It's just..."
Judith motioned for him to continue, and he went red before burying his head in his hands.
"I think I like Yuri."
"Okay. And?"
"Well...what if he doesn't like me? I mean, that way? And it's really rushed...We hardly know each other after all."
Judith tapped her cheek. "They say that relationships are best established before they can become firm friendships...So, it's not that rushed. And anyway, does it really matter if Yuri does or doesn't like you that way? What would you do if he said no?"
"Nothing, I guess...But he might find it awkward being around me..."
"Yuri? Heh. That guy probably won't care that much."
"But you don't know that. Asking him is pretty much out of the question, anyway."
"Why? What if he said yes?"
"..I just can't."
Judith looked at him a moment, then closed her eyes. "How did Yuri react when he realised you two had been 'cuddling'?"
"I don't know if he realised...but he didn't seem to care that much."
"Then he probably won't care too much about this either."
"I know what you're trying to say, Judith, but I can't. I just can't."
Judith shrugged. "That's fine. These things take time. There's no need to push yourself if you honestly can't do it." Flynn nodded, and she smiled. "Alright, why don't we just take a look at your ribs and make sure they're doing okay, and then we'll have some breakfast," she decided.
A/N: So, weird confession thing. Super weird bit next chappy. Enjoy!
