Tyler Macindaw leaned against the wall of the school, dark eyes ominous. He'd been harsh and angry since his father had been submitted to hospital, and now most people avoided him.
His gaze swept over the ground, before he blinked. He quickly spotted who he was looking for, and half pushed himself up, unable to believe it. Since he hadn't seen or heard anything about the Lowell kid, he thought he might have died too...but here he was, sauntering around like he owned the place once more.
Anger entered him. This overconfident jerk had made a mockery of him, refusing to submit to him. He was always so sassy and full of himself. Because of this guy, his dad had been taken to hospital in critical condition.
Snarling, he reached into his bag and pulled out the Swiss Army Knife he'd been given for his birthday a couple of years ago. He easily flicked it open, rushing forward towards Lowell, giving a scream of anger.
Yuri glanced back as he heard several shouts, blinking as he saw the charging figure. He recognised Tyler and stiffened, then saw the weapon and became serious.
As Tyler lunged at him, slashing to cut him, he leapt back, dodging. Tyler didn't pause, racing at him and continuing to attack. Yuri continued to jump back, ducking or dodging ocassionally as Tyler's attacks became more frenzied.
People backed away, some screaming as they saw what was going on. Yuri didn't care though; he hadn't been relying on them in the first place. There were a few teachers rushing towards them to try and restrain Tyler, but Yuri knew what rage could do to someone; Tyler, at this moment, was the definition of anger itself.
Talking wouldn't work. Fighting would only make it worse. What he needed to do was disarm Tyler, getting rid of the biggest threat, so that he could easily be restrained.
Tyler slashed again, and Yuri moved to the side, flinching as the knife nicked his arm. He ignored the injury, knowing that losing concentration could end with him seriously injured. He needed to act soon, before Tyler got another lucky shot in.
As Tyler lunged, Yuri placed a palm on his wrist, pushing it to the side and exposing Tyler's back. Slipping his arms around Tyler's neck, he stepped back, feeling his heart speed up. Tyler snarled, bringing the knife round to stab Yuri in the side. Yuri kicked his leg forward in the back of Tyler's knees, causing him to fall and miss. Quickly pinning him down, he grappled the knife from Tyler's wrist before thrusting it away, panting. Tyler struggled against him, suddenly pushing himself up and unseating Yuri. Yuri crashed to the ground, then lifted his arms to protect himself as Tyler began punching him.
"You bastard! I hate you! You're such a cocky little shit...Because of you, my father's in hospital!" Tyler yelled. Yuri blinked, lowering his arm slightly in surprise, then fell to the side as Tyler hit his cheek. Yuri lifted his arms again, protecting his head.
Several teachers came forward, trying to get Tyler off, but Yuri quickly looked up. "No, leave it! It's okay!" he shouted, wincing as Tyler continued to punch him.
"I'm sure you're trying to be very brave, Mr Lowell!" snapped one of the teachers, grabbing at Tyler.
"I said leave it!" shouted Yuri, looking at them angrily. The few teachers backed off a little, staying close to intervene in case Tyler went out of control.
Yuri lay there for a while, just letting Tyler take his anger out on him, but eventually Tyler's attacks grew weaker and less frequent. Finally they stopped altogether, and Yuri glanced up. When he was certain Tyler wasn't about to start hitting him again, he wriggled out from underneath him, backing up a little. He hesitated, biting his lip, then lowered his head.
"I'm sorry about your dad," he said quietly.
Tyler looked at him in surprise, then scowled. "Don't you dare try and act like you understand, Lowell!" he snarled.
"...I know it hurts to lose family. But I guess Flynn would be better, yeah."
"What the hell does that mean?!"
Yuri looked him in the eye, making him blink. For a moment Yuri was silent, then he closed his eyes.
"Cherish what you have," he murmured, then stood up, heading off. Several people crowded round, asking if he was alright, but he just waved them off, pushing through them.
The teachers came forward, getting Tyler to stand before leading him off. Tyler glanced back at Yuri, frowning as he tried to understand what Yuri meant.
Judith tutted as she placed the ice pack on Yuri's cheek. "You let him hit you? What on earth was going through your mind?" she asked incredulously.
Yuri shrugged. "I just...He was angry because, in his eyes, I was the one who hurt his dad. He was scared that he might lose him...And I guess I just kind of related to that." He flinched as Judith tied a few bandages around the cuts on his arm. "Though I kind of regret it now," he admitted.
"I don't want you doing something so idiotic again. Honestly..."
Yuri shrugged, then flinched as the door was slammed open. The two of them turned before Judith gave a smirk and stepped back.
"Why, Flynn. How lovely to see you. May I assume you're here to..."
"You idiot! What the hell were you thinking?!" shouted Flynn.
Yuri sighed. "I just explained this to Judith, ask her."
"Yuri, he had a knife. A knife. And you just let him beat you up? What if he grabbed it again? What if he seriously hurt you!?"
"I don't want to hear that from you," Yuri said flatly.
Flynn paused. "Okay...yeah...but still! He had a weapon. You should have backed off!"
"Flynn..."
"I mean, what would you do if he managed to actually hit you?! Or if he had managed to hurt you more?!"
"Flynn..!"
"And why wouldn't you let the teachers help? There's no point being a tough guy, that only gets you-"
Yuri lunged forward, pressing his lips against Flynn. Flynn seemed surprised for a moment before relaxing into the motion, leaning into it.
Judith gave a little snort, wondering if she should break them up, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves...
"Ugh. Seriously you two, get a room," Rita said, pulling a face. Estelle came in behind her, seeming surprised and blushing.
Flynn pulled back, looking at them. "Uh...Right. Sorry," he said, embarrassed. Yuri gave her a flat glare, before stretching and wincing.
"Great. My arms are going to kill.." he muttered.
"Then you shouldn't have done that in the first place!" Flynn retorted.
"Calm down or I'll kiss you again."
"I still don't see what's so bad about that."
A/N: Although the knife bit is the result of a complicated instruction thing, another piece of reference/advice - if someone has a knife, distract them by throwing something at them then run. Don't try to disarm or fight them, because they have the advantage, and it is extremely dangerous.
Just in case any of you guys get into bad situations *shrug*
