"What are you talking about? Who are you?" Bonnie screamed pummeling his chest with her fist.
He grabbed her wrists and pushed her back gently, "Bonnie I'm here to help."
"Help," she asked wiggling out of his grasp and leaning away from him. "Then you know where he is?"
"Yes," he hesitated.
"Then you can go get him?" she asked leaning on a small table to pull herself up off the floor.
"Here, let me help," he said reaching out for her.
"Stay away," she recoiled almost losing her grip on the table.
"No, I can't go get him," he said standing close by.
She stood up and walked shakily to the kitchen sitting down at the breakfast table. "Then you can tell me. How I can go get him?"
He smacked his lips, "i can't do that either, Bonnie."
"Then how are you supposed to help. It sounds to me like you're pretty useless. What do you want from me?" she yelled grabbing on to the edges of the table so hard her knuckles were beginning to turn white.
"I love you. I just want to help you find some peace," he offered. Even to his ears It sounded measly.
"Then give me the truth," stated Bonnie firmly releasing the table and settling back into her chair.
"I will If I can," he said sincerely. He was breaking a lot of rules by being here, but he wanted to still help the only girl he ever loved.
"Who are you?" she asked sniffling holding back tears. Had she led the monster that took Damon from her right to his door.
"I'm a gatekeeper of a dimension called Karhyn," he said sitting in the chair across from her.
"Did you bring us here?" She asked dabbing lightly at the corner of her teary eyes with the Kleenex she grabbed from the table.
"No that was all your grandmothers doing. A special request on your behalf," he got up and went to the fridge. Pulling out a jug of water and pouring her a glass. She seemed to have developed the hiccups.
"Why would she send me here if everything is fake?"
"It's where you belong. Well sort of," he said handing her some water.
She took a small sip. Not wanting to let on that she was actually feeling famished. "Explain."
"The travelers destroyed limbo. Right? For you beings to be so smart and powerful it never occurred to you that there was more out there then meets the eye. Karhyn my dear is your supernatural equilvant to heaven."
"If this is heaven why isn't my grandmother here with me?" she asked in disbelief. This couldn't be possible. He was sitting in front of her telling her that God was real.
"Bonnie, you're not listening. This isn't heaven so same rules don't apply. As supernatural beings you spend centuries with your loved ones. Witches even have a direct link to their ancester's after death. In Karhyn the goal isn't to reunite what was never separated. It is that you be human and live out relatively undisturbed normal lives. Supernatural relatives included and any human relatives don't belong in this realm."
"So why did you let Damon stay with me."
"We didn't. Which is why you two were not together when you awoke."
"I don't understand. Then how did we find each other?"
"There was nothing that we could have done. He drank from the stream of forgiveness. It allowed you to see him when before he would have been cloaked, invisible like the others. The rest was your doing."
"You monster. You've known this the whole time and haven't said a word," she said looking at him. Really looking at him as if she was seeing him for the first time.
"It wasn't my place."
"Even so, was it your place to pretend to be my boyfriend? To pretend to love me?" she asked horrified.
"I do love you. I've loved you from the moment I saw you. I should've stayed away just observed from afar. I could've just did my job, but you weren't just another job. You were the girl I wanted to know. I can love you better than Damon and I think I proved that," he said pleading his case.
"Is your real name Mason?" she asked curiously. Although she was already sure of the answer.
"Why does it matter?" he asked not sure if he should answer.
"It matters. Is your name Mason?"
"No, it's not."
"How can I ever believe another word that comes out of your lying mouth," she said rubbing her forehead.
"Bonnie, you know me. A name is just a name."
"No, what I know is that Damon is just back on earth with Stefan," she thought feeling hopeful. That's why he was seeing him everywhere. They just came and got him and pretty soon it would be her turn. Bringing people back from the dead was risky business she should know that much.
She was always able to remain optimistic even to the end Mason liked that about her. "No, Bonnie he's not."
"How can you say that? He was seeing Stefan everywhere he told me so this morning," she argued.
"Yea, I was doing my best to stop those. You know how things are you witches and you're magic."
"Why would you want to stop them?" she asked confused. This stranger had his hand in every part of their lives. He knew things about Damon that even she hadn't known until he told her. Was he responsible for the baby too. She shudder to think that they were just pets in his little aquarium.
"You breached limbo without much fanfare because we were unprepared for the onslaught. You have no say on Karhyn or Kolasi. We will defend it to the death. Mostly yours."
"Stefan wouldn't do that. I'm sure his intention was only to retrieve us. He probably doesn't fully understand what this place is."
"Ignorance is not bliss. What happens when someone else gets ahold of the witch? This isn't a vacation stay. Theres always someone trying to cheat death. Or like the Travelers they believe that they know what's best for everyone else. We can't allow knowledge of this place to get out."
"But he did get out. So does that mean you are going to go and get him?"
He sighed feeling for her pain, "He's in Kolasi. Hell."
"You're not leaving him there," she demanded standing up.
"Oddly enough Kolasi is no different from the human counterpart of hell. It's the subtle differences that surprise you the most I think."
"Did you hear me!" she said slowly the vein on the side of head throbbing.
"Of course I'm leaving him down there Bon-Bon. It's where he should have went in the first place."
She smacked him hard across the face. "You're going to send me to him. I'm going to bring him back. And you're going to do this because you lied. You used me and now you're using him."
He rubbed his cheek soarly, "Even if it means your baby dies?"
