Fairest Maiden
Chapter 5 - A Surprised Announcement
Lucy shot up from her bed. Her brown eyes were widen and she felt her tears roll down her cheeks. Her heart was beating fast and she was trembling. She brought her right hand up to her heart, and took deep breaths, waiting for it slow down. She then stared down at the white silk sheet blanket she was under.
A dream…. She whispered in her mind, It was just a dream. She was shocked and surprised when she saw her tears fall down against the sheets; placing small damp circles on the silk blanket. She brought her hands up to her face to wipe away the fallen tears, before questioned aloud to no one in particular, "Why am I… crying?"
Soon morning rose, and the Sabertooth Kingdom was bustling with activity. Sting sat on his throne, watching his servants scramble from place to place. That was when his eyes landed on his beloved Maiden.
He grinned to himself when he saw her attire. She wore a red silk medieval dress, that was accented with fine gold string. The dress he picked out for her suited her perfectly; it brought out her beauty more than usual. Her blond hair was tied into a bun with a braid wrapped around it to keep it in place. She had a confused look on her face as she watched the rushing servants.
She walked over to Sting, "What is going on here?" "They are rushing." He simply answered. "For what?" She titled her head in a curious matter. He chuckled, "A very important royalty figure and his daughter are coming to visit." "A royalty figure and his daughter?" "Yes." He nodded, and gestured for her to sit on the throne chair that was next to him; for the queen.
She slowly obliged, giving him an uneasy look. "You see, I was to marry this man's daughter. But, when word got out that I have you with me, they were outraged. So, they are coming here to get to the bottom of this." He explained. "So… I caused this problem?" Lucy questioned, and he nodded. "So, why don't you just let me go? So, you don't need to deal with this problem?" She suggested.
"Nice try, but after what I had to go through just to get you, I'm not going to let you go that easily." He smirked. She rolled her eyes, "Then why did you bother to go though the trouble?" "Because, my lady," He turned to her and grabbed her right hand, and placed a kiss on the back of her palm, "You were worth the struggle."
Lucy's face instantly burned red at his sincere words. She yanked her hand away, "Don't touch me."
The main doors opened and everyone stopped and turned. The maids and butlers had horrified looks on their faces.
At the door was a slim young woman of average height. She had long, straight and glossy black hair that reached down to her lower back. She wore a dark blue and gold medieval dress, and she had a unpleasant expression on her face. The hall was instantly quiet as the maids and butlers have left in a hurry.
"Sting." She called, her voice bellowed throughout the hall. He stared intensely at her, "Minerva." "What are you doing with that woman?" She hissed and glared at Lucy. Lucy flinched under the woman's glare and she felt shivers run down her spine and back; in a snap she knew that this Minerva can and will be able to kill.
"This woman is Lucy Heartfilia." Sting stated calmly. "I did not ask for her name." She growled.
"She is clearly enraged." Lucy muttered. In the corner of Lucy's eye she saw Sting give in to a small and almost unnoticeable smile; he heard her. "You made an agreement with my father." Minerva clenched her fists, as she strutted towards the two. "I know I did." Sting nodded, "But I am afraid that the agreement is not valid anymore." "Why?!" Minerva was outraged.
"That woman is just some peasant girl from another kingdom that you bargained for."
"She isn't just a woman, Minerva."
"Yea, she is a peasant, Sting! What has got into your head, going for some low life female from another kingdom?"
Lucy felt her words slap her right across the face. She then suddenly stood up with clenched fists, "So what? So what, if I am some peasant girl from another kingdom? It doesn't matter who I am! I am not just some peasant girl from the Fairy Tail Kingdom. I am Lucy Heartfilia, the fairest maiden of Fairy Tail! So, don't you dare call me some peasant girl, because I am not a peasant!"
There was silence throughout the hall, before Sting broke out laughing. Lucy whipped her head to him and glared, "What's so funny?!" He shook his head, as his laughter slowly died down. "You see, Minerva?" Sting rose upon his chair with a grin on his face, "Do you see why, she isn't just a woman?"
"I… I don't understand." Minerva muttered, still surprised with Lucy's sudden outburst.
"She just stood up to someone in a higher social ranking than her, you wouldn't dare do that." Sting stated, "And don't try to disagree, because I have known you since we were children. You couldn't even stand up to your own father."
"But Lucy…. heh… Lucy just did. And that is why…."
Lucy was suddenly pulled towards him, and she was now in his embrace. Her chocolate brown irises widened in surprise.
"She is the woman I am going to marry."
Lisanna was standing in her bedroom quietly as she was measured for her wedding dress. "How do you feel?" Mirajane asked with a small smile. "About what?" Lisanna turned her attention to her sister. "Getting married to Natsu. The person you had a large crush on for forever."
"Mira!" Lisanna blushed. Mirajane stopped teasing, as she studied her sisters expression.
Lisanna seemed happy to marry Natsu. So, who is she to try and destroy the wedding? Is it because she doesn't want to see Lisanna hurt knowing that Natsu doesn't love her? Or is it because she pity's Lucy and Natsu's position in their relationship?
"I'm glad." Lisanna whispered with blush on her cheeks and a smile, "My dream is finally coming true."
"Getting married to Natsu is still a dream to me, it's like this is all a dream." She sighed happily. Although, deep in Lisanna's heart, she knew it was wrong. If she married Natsu, she would have to live a life knowing that Natsu doesn't love her, but Lucy. The woman Lisanna tore him apart from. "Well, if you're happy. I'm happy." Mirajane informed her before getting up to leave the room.
"Sis…" Lisanna called in a whisper, and Mira turned to her just as she was at the door, "Yes?" "If you had to choose a side… which side would you choose?" She questioned, without turning around. Mirajane was silent, before she gave out a giggle, "Yours of course. You are… my sister. We need to stick together."
"Thanks."
"No problem. Take it easy." Mirajane shut the door behind her. Although, behind all of Mirajane's words were regret, worry, and shame.
"You're what?!" Minerva shouted in anger. "I'm going to marry Lucy Heratfilia." Sting stared at her, giving her a serious look. "M-Marriage?!" Lucy stated; obviously stunned at his statement. Soon, butlers and maids, came rushing in. They all flocked around Lucy and Sting.
Minerva was pushed out of hearing range. Congratulations were heard throughout the hall. "Sting, what are you doing?! What's happening?" Lucy gave him a stunned and angry look. Sting just gave her smirk, "We're getting married, that's what's happening."
"I'll send out the invitations at once!" A maid yelled and ran off towards the office, while others followed. "Don't forget to invite Prince Natsu and Princess Lisanna. They are very important guests!" Another maid yelled after her.
Lucy's head begun to spin among the yelling crowd. She held her head in her hands and shut her eyes tightly. Marriage?! What is he talking about?! I thought..." Her head was spinning and she was getting dizzy,
Please... help me... Nastu!
