Hours later, eight o'clock to be exact, the castle was bustling with activity. Guests all over the world came instantly to the kingdom after there was talk about Lucy and Sting's engagement; it spread like wildfire. The guests enjoyed the wonderful hospitality as they danced and drank.
"The is madness." Lucy stated through gritted teeth. Sting and Lucy stood side by side as they greeted the many guests that came to visit.
"Madness is one word to describe it." Sting replied. "Yes, you're right. This is insane!" Lucy glared at him. "Just play along." He nudged her arm. "Play along?!" Lucy nudged him back, "These people think we are engaged!"
"Let them think that. I did declare that in front of Minerva." Sting reminded her. "I haven't agreed with anything on this! I'm not marrying you!" Lucy whispered angrily.
"Look, it'll be embarrassing for the both of us if you suddenly declare that we are not marrying after all these people came through their way to greet us a happy life with our engagement. It will look bad on me and on you, so just play along." He replied, slightly glaring at the other blond.
Lucy muttered something under her breath and rolled her eyes.
They greeted a few more guests as the night went on.
From the corner of his eye, he saw Lucy watching couples dance together slowly. They talked quietly among themselves, while others laughed obnoxiously. A small and warm smile fell onto her lips as she watched them. It was almost like she was imagining herself out there dancing among the people; that was when he had a brilliant idea.
"Lucy." Sting called. Lucy turned back towards him with a expression that read I'm-still-mad-with-you, "What?" "May I have this dance?" Sting extended his hand out to her just when the dance ended and another was about to begin.
"W-What about the guests?" Lucy stuttered. "I'm sure they won't mind." Sting smirked. "I-I would rather not." Lucy replied. "No, I insist." Sting took her hand and lead her to the centre of the ballroom.
The song begun and Sting took Lucy's left hand in his right, while his left hand was placed on her waist and her right hand on his chest. "What are we doing?" Lucy whispered softly.
"We are dancing. Is this not what you wanted to do?"
"What I wanted?'
"I saw the way you watched the others dance. It was written all over your face."
"And how would you know?"
"Because I knew someone with that same expression on their face before. They wanted to dance, but they never did."
"Why?"
Sting suddenly dipped her, "Because dancing wasn't their thing."
Lucy asked when he brought her up from the dip, "But why? Dancing is quite easy when you get the hang of it."
"Do you normally ask this many questions when you're dancing?" Sting questioned her.
Their faces were mere inches away, and she had her hand gripping onto his shoulder; their bodies quite close to each other.
"Does it bother you?"
"Not at all."
Just like the other couples, they pulled away and stepped in back together. Sting's left arm was held up in a L position, and it was the same with Lucy's right arm; her hand was on his as they walked in a circle.
They stared at each other with smug expressions.
"You are just filled with surprises aren't you?"
"And why is that?"
"You don't look like the type of man to enjoy dancing."
"Well, I find dancing quite useless actually."
"Then why are you dancing with me?"
"Because you're a different story."
"A different story?"
"Yes."
"What am I? I'm a story now?"
"A novel actually. A very long one."
"Then you like reading?"
"Is yes the correct answer?"
"Are you trying to charm me?"
"Is it working?"
"No, I'm afraid not."
Lucy held in a laugh, only for a giggle to slip pass her lips. Sting smiled, as their hearts warmed with joy.
For the first time, in a long time, Lucy was actually enjoying herself; as if she was happy.
That was when two very familiar people stepped into the ballroom; Natsu and Lisanna. Lisanna linked her arm with Natsu as they entered the slightly crowded ballroom. "There are so many people." Lisanna gaped.
"Don't get lost. Your father will have my head if that were to happen." Natsu reminded her. "Thank you so much for agreeing to come, Natsu. You really made me happy." Lisanna smiled softly. Natsu stared at her before he gave her a smile, "Well, I couldn't say no to you."
Lisanna blushed lightly. "What is this event for anyway?" Natsu asked her. "Oh, I'm not sure. My father just told me to go. He said it'll be good for my health." Lisanna lied.
Lisanna didn't know what the event was for, but she needed to talk to Lucy. She wanted to straighten things out with her, she didn't want to leave things unresolved; most especially since the two used to be close friends... and possibly they could still be.
They scanned the room, and Lisanna heard a few guests talking about Minerva, Sting, and something about an engagement. Lisanna came to a conclusion, "Probably for Sting's engagement with Minerva."
Natsu had a wave of relief that washed over him, and a goofy grin was placed on his lips, "What are we just standing here for? Let's get something to eat!"
Natsu quickly pulled Lisanna towards the long table filled with food; and oh boy he was ready to stuff his face.
As Natsu dragged her along, Lisanna searched the crowds of people for, her hopefully still best friend, Lucy.
They reached the table, and Natsu begun to stuff his face.
Lisanna on the other hand got on her tippy toes to look for the blond female. Lisanna wanted to tell her everything that has been eating away at her since the engagement announcement.
She wanted to say how sorry she was, how much she regrets everything, and how much she doesn't want to loose Lucy as a friend. Lisanna loved Natsu, but Lucy has been with Lisanna since they were infants.
They always played together, and they always considered themselves as sisters; Lisanna didn't want to loose one of her greatest best friends.
She understood how much Lucy was in pain when she heard the engagement, because that was exactly how she felt when she found out that Lucy and Natsu were dating.
Lisanna wasn't perfect, but she still had a heart; a good heart.
That was when Lisanna turned back to Natsu.
She was shocked at the sight. Natsu had stuffed cheeks filled with food, and he had crumbs all over himself.
"W-What the... What happened?" Lisanna asked with widened eyes. "I was hungry." Natsu grinned and shurgged.
"You're a mess." Lisanna informed him and he just laughed, "I get told that a lot."
"Here." Lisanna brought out a handkerchief, "Come closer."
Natsu nodded and leaned down to her. She reached up and begun to wipe away the mess around his mouth.
Their faces inches away, and Lisanna's cheeks blushed red. Her heart throbbed, and her right arm begun to tremble a bit.
"Are you okay?" Natsu asked. "Y-yea, let me just finish this up." Lisanna stuttered with red cheeks.
As Sting and Lucy danced, from the corner of her eye, her heart ached at the sight; Natsu and Lisanna. From Lucy's perspective it looked like they were about to lip lock with each other. She felt tears well up, and she stopped in her spot.
Her heart pounded and her chest tightened; she was watching the love of her life about to kiss one of her closest friends.
Just when she forgot all about him, he showed back up to crush her heart; although it wasn't like he was purposely doing it, but Lucy didn't know that.
She gaped, before she covered her mouth; afraid she was going to let out a loud cry.
Sting eyed her with a confused expression, before he followed her gaze, "Oh... shit."
"E-Excuse me." Lucy quickly made her way out of the ballroom and out into the garden.
"Lucy! Lucy wait!" Sting caught her arm and swung her around. She glared at him, "What?"
"We were having a great time in there, dancing. You were finally smiling, but then all of that ended when you saw Natsu." Sting recalled the scene. "You wouldn't understand." Lucy tried to shake her arm free, but he held a strong grip.
"Try me." Sting challenged.
"Just let go, Sting." She whispered, "I just need to be alone."
He left her arm go, and she walked away from him; a few meters.
"What would it take?" Sting shouted. Lucy turned back around to face him, "Pardon me?"
"What would it take for you to give up on, Natsu?"
"Honestly, I don't see what you see in him Lucy. Was it his bad personality? Or his idiotic looks?" Sting questioned, "Listen, if he really loved you then he would've given up his position as prince to be with you. Or he would've tried everything in his power to prevent his engagement with Lisanna. Just saying."
Lucy didn't reply because harsh reality took her breath away when it stabbed her in the heart.
"But that is what I like about you, Lucy. You're undying commitment to the man. I love your stubborn personality because you're the only one who can give me thrill of a challenge." Sting stated before he turned back around and made his way back to the castle.
"Sting..." Lucy whispered.
He stopped and turned his over his shoulder and said, "You should leave him, because it's making me sick with the thought of you with a slob like him. I will help in getting you over him if that is what you're worried about. And when you do leave him, I'll be waiting. Just saying."
He shrugged his shoulders before he disappeared into the palace among the crowds of people.
Lucy stood in the garden alone under the beautiful starry night sky. Her mind lingered on what Sting just told her, "Is Sting telling the truth? Did Natsu even try to stop the engagement? Should I...
I...
Should I really...
leave Natsu?"
A/N: "AND SCENE! Great work everybody! That was brilliant!" Candy shouted. Sounds and cheers were heard throughout the area. "Finish it up and let's slap that thing onto the website!" She ordered. "Yes ma'am!" A worker replied.
"Madam, the first chapter for the Supernatural x reader series... is it complete?" An intern asked. "No. It needs to be edited and read over. Put that on my schedule for Thursday." Candy sighed as she hopped out of her director seat and pulled on her jean jacket. She slipped it over her shoulders; slightly covering black bandeau she was wearing.
"Okay everyone! Let's head home. We have another scene to do first thing in the afternoon." Candy shouted and multiple, "Yes ma'am!" were heard.
She grinned happily to herself, "Ah, it's great to be back on track."
