Hi everyone! Back with another update. Late again, I know, but I promise to try and be faster next time. Enjoy!

P.S. Thanks for all the great reviews. I always look forward to reading them!

"Uncle Lucas pass me the ball!" Jamie shouted banging on the controllers to the xbox in Brooke and Lucas's house.

"Jamie you got to get open." Lucas said laughing playing along with his 5 year old nephew.

Nathan and Haley, Peyton and Jake, and their kids came over to Brooke and Lucas's house to hang out and have lunch that Saturday afternoon.

"So who are these people again?" Haley asked Brooke who was walking around the kitchen getting together the last few things for lunch as Peyton and Haley sat at the counter.

"Naomi knew Lindsay in college or something. I guess they've worked together in editing in the past and Luke ran into her the other night. Her husband got transferred here I believe and they invited us out to dinner. She wants to help Lucas on his second book." Brooke explained.

"So they ditched us for these strangers." Peyton smirked as she handed down a sippy cup of juice to Gage who was running back and forth from Brooke and Lucas's living room to the kitchen.

"What was I supposed to say? Luke put me on the spot!" Brooke said

"It is really nice to get a night out though right? You two haven't really been out since the baby's been born." Haley added.

"These people aren't worth my time away from Sophia though." Brooke sneered half whispering not wanting Lucas to hear.

"You know it wouldn't hurt for us to make some new friends babe!" Lucas yelled from where he was playing video games on the couch.

Brooke just rolled her in response as Peyton and Haley snickered.

Shooting a dirty look to her two best friends Brooke shouted "Lunch is ready!"

"Babe, have you seen my blue button up shirt?" Lucas yelled to Brooke who was in the master bathroom finishing putting her makeup on.

"Did you look in the third drawer?" Brooke responded sighing. She really wasn't looking forward to this dinner date. Sophia was fussy and she felt bad leaving her with Nathan and Haley for the night. Plus she wasn't sure what to think of Naomi yet. Something about her seemed a bit off.

"Okay got it!" Lucas yelled back after he found the folded blue shirt at the bottom of the drawer. "I'll go finish getting Soph ready."

Lucas walked out of his and Brooke's bedroom after he finished getting dressed and down the hall to Sophia's nursery.

"Why hello there sweet girl." Lucas leaned over the crib and picked up the baby. He brought her over to the changing table and began to undress her in the outfit she was wearing to change her diaper and put her in her pajamas for the night.

"You ready to spend the night with your Aunt Haley and Uncle Nathan and cousin Jamie?" Lucas said smiling down at the cooing baby.

Sophia just stared back up at her father mesmerized by grabbing her feet and trying to pull them into her mouth.

Brooke came into the room and started packing up the diaper bag for the baby's stay overnight with Nathan and Haley.

The baby turned her head and started reaching for her mother making it harder for Lucas to dress her.

"Who's that baby girl? Is that mommy?" Lucas said.

"Come on Luke stop messing around we have to go. We're going to be late." Brooke said in an annoyed tone.

"You know, you could lose the attitude. These people could be a help to me writing my next book. I haven't had work in almost three years but I guess I wouldn't expect you to understand since you get to go to work everyday." Lucas said raising his voice.

"Don't start that crap with me again Lucas. I'm not in the mood." Brooke sneered back.

"Yeah clearly." Lucas said softly under his breath as he picked up Sophia who was finally dressed.

"Let's just get this over with." Brooke sighed zipping up the diaper bag and then walking out of the nursery.

"And I'll have the filet. Medium well please. Thanks." Naomi finished ordering and handed her menu to the waiter.

"So how long have you guys been living in Tree Hill?" Lucas asked Naomi and Ted who were sitting across the table from him and Brooke in the small italian restaurant downtown.

"It's been about 5 months now." Ted answered. "It's honestly not as bad as we thought it would be. Leaving all our family and friends was a hard transition but we've met a lot of nice people in our neighborhood.

"That's great." Lucas responded. He put is hand on Brooke's leg underneath the table to try and break the tension between him and his wife but she pulled away.

"So…" Naomi said sensing the awkward silence at the table. "Lucas I hope you don't mind but I have so many questions about Ravens. I must have read that book fifteen times."

"Ask away" Lucas responded with a big smile on his face while Brooke just rolled her eyes.

"Well I don't mean to overstep my boundaries here or anything but it's quite obvious that you end up with Peyton in the book. Can I ask what happened?" Naomi asked.

"Oh yeah don't worry I get that question all the time. Everyone wants to know "Did Lucas and Peyton end up together, Did they get their fairytale ending in real life?" Lucas explained. "Obviously as you can see our relationship together didn't really work out. We just weren't meant to be."

Brooke couldn't believe they were discussing this. How inappropriate of Naomi to ask she thought to herself.

"Do you guys still see each other?" Naomi asked curiously.

Brooke just kept taking sips of her wine as she was fuming on the inside.

"Yeah she's actually still one of our best friends. She's married to a guy we went to high school with and we see them all the time. They were over our house earlier actually." Lucas replied.

"So then how did you two reconnect?" Naomi said motioning towards Brooke.

"We actually ran into each other right after I got the news from Lindsey that my book was being published. She lived in New York at the time and we just reconnected and started a relationship again." Lucas explained.

"You must feel really lucky to have gotten a second chance with him" Naomi said to Brooke.

Brooke just gave her a half smile in response. She was fed up with Naomi's intruding questions.

"It always seemed to me that the Lucas Scott in the book was only ever in love with one girl. That girl being Peyton Sawyer." Naomi stated.

"Excuse me?" Brooke finally spoke up pissed about Naomi's ridiculous statement.

"Honey, I don't think that was a very nice thing to say." Ted said shifting uncomfortably in his seat.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you Brooke. I guess I always get caught up with the characters in my romance novels and this is my first time actually getting to meet one. Excuse me for my personal questions." Naomi stood up and dismissed herself from the table.

The car ride home from the restaurant had been completely silent. Finally Lucas, who was gripping tightly onto the steering wheel spoke up.

"I couldn't be more disappointed Brooke. Naomi and Ted are nice people and you were being rude the whole dinner. I can't believe you made Naomi leave the table at one point."

"Lucas you've got to be kidding me! I can't believe your buying into this women's bullshit." Brooke argued back.

"Naomi and Ted are new to town and they invited us out to dinner and all you could give them was a bad attitude. Quite frankly I'm embarrassed. Lucas said catching a quick glance at Brooke before directing his eyes back on the road.

"That's nice to hear Luke thanks for being supportive of your wife." Brooke said folding her arms across her chest and sinking farther back into her seat.

"What could you possibly have against Naomi? You barely know the woman?" Lucas pointed out as they pulled into their driveway.

"I don't trust her Lucas. She has underlying motives!" Brooke shouted.

"And what could those possibly be?" Lucas asked turning the car off and unbuckling his seat belt.

"I think she's into you." Brooke remarked.

"You can't be serious Brooke." Lucas said shaking his head and getting out of the car. He began walking up the driveway towards the house and shouted back, "I'll get up early and go get Sophia from Nathan and Haley's. Goodnight."

And with that, Brooke was left alone sitting in the car weary of the new conflict slowly creeping between her and her husband.
