Coco

I woke up the next morning and found that every muscle in my body was aching. Velvet was lying on her bed with her laptop out, and she had her face crinkled up the way people always do when there's a bad smell in the air.

"Morning," I told her, yawning loudly.

"Oh good, you're up," she replied. "You can shower then get this awful stench out of the room."

"Yeah, it's pretty bad," I admitted, realising that the smell of my sweaty workout clothes had permeated the room since the night before. "I'll open a window." I got up to do so, only to discover that every step I took was agonising on my legs. "Ow," I complained. "Ow, ow, ow." Each "ow" came when I took a step, which Velvet acknowledged with a bemused raise of her eyebrow. My arms screamed as I lifted the window open, and dropped to my sides like lead as soon as it was secured, as far open as it could go. "I'm in pain," I snapped when I saw Velvet trying to suppress a smile. "You should be saying 'are you okay, is there anything I can do, anything I can get you', that sort of thing."

"Where were you last night?" she asked, seemingly genuinely curious.

"I didn't tell you?" She shook her head. "Oh. Well, I'm learning kung fu with Yang now. First lesson was last night. Fucking exhausting. I don't know how she does it."

"That's cool. Don't overwork yourself though," she told me.

"Bit late for that now, isn't it?"

"I guess. Anyway, you still stink. Shower. The hot water might help."

"Yeah, maybe," I replied, grabbing a change of clothes. I stripped down in the bathroom, as I tended to do before showering. I turned the water on, cranking the heat up as far as it would go, and watched as steam filled the bathroom, almost too dense to see through. As it turned out, the water was too hot when I got under it, and I yelped as my normally pale skin reddened. I immediately turned down the heat, bringing the water down to a bearable temperature.

I let the water cascade over me, feeling my muscles loosen as it ran down my body. As the pain was slowly washed away, I thought of Yang. Wow. That sounded cliché as fuck. Good job, Coco. Having actively participated in one of her practice sessions, I'd gained a new appreciation for her martial arts abilities. She made it look effortless, but it really wasn't. Maybe it was for her, but in that case, she must've been in even better shape than I thought. As I thought about Yang's physical condition, I realised that my mind might wander to places it shouldn't, so I decided to simply wash my hair and body. When that was done, I let the water continue to run down me, loosening my muscles more. Eventually, though, the hot water ran out and I stepped out of the shower.

I dried off, got dressed and brushed my teeth, all the usual boring stuff. With that done, I exited the bathroom and saw Velvet spraying air freshener all over the place. The can seemed to be running dry, because the jet kept stopping and the Faunus had to shake it to get it going again.

"Jeez, Velvet, how much of that have you used?" I asked.

"A lot," she told me. "Enough to get the smell out."

"Yeah, seems to be gone," I replied after taking a deep sniff.

"How's the... Everything, I guess?" Velvet asked.

"If you mean the agonising pain in every muscle in my body, it's better. Not really agonising anymore, but it can still fuck off."

"See if Yang will give you a massage," she teased. At least, I thought she was joking.

"That's... A really good idea actually. Thanks," I replied.

"Coco, I... I was kidding, you know."

"I know, but still." Before either of us said anything else, my text tone went off. I picked up my phone and saw that I had a message from Yang, reading hey Coco, hope you're not too sore after last night. See you soon? Finally seeing a chance to get the blonde back for all the dirty jokes she'd made based on stuff I'd said, I decided to be cheeky in my reply. Yang, honey, what exactly do you think we were doing last night? Yang's reply came a few seconds later: oh god, no, that's not what I meant! I'm blushing lol.

Now you know how I feel, I told her.

Now you know why I do that to you, she replied, probably grinning in that smartass way of hers.

Touché.

Anyway, wanna hang out?

Sure. I'll meet you in the courtyard.

See ya :p

"That Yang?" Velvet asked as I put my phone in my pocket.

"Yeah. I'm going to hang out with her. See you later," I replied.

"Bye." Velvet gave a small wave as I left the room to go meet my girlfriend.

After a short walk through the dorm building, I found the blonde waiting for me by the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. She was staring at her phone, looking rather bored. Despite this, she still radiated confidence and looked far from lonely. She hadn't seen me yet, so I decided to sneak up on her as a joke. After walking round the outside of the courtyard, I got behind the girl quietly, then wrapped my arms around her and buried my face in her golden mane. She yelped in surprise as I breathed in the lavender scent I'd come to love.

"Fuck, Coco!" she exclaimed after I'd let her go and she'd turned to face me. "Was that necessary?" Despite sounding annoyed, she had a huge smile on her face and I could tell she wasn't really mad.

"What's the matter? Were you scared?" I teased.

"Pfft, no," she replied. "Just surprised."

"Okay. So, anything in particular you want to do?" I asked, taking her hand and entwining my fingers with hers.

"No idea. We could go for a walk, maybe go for a ride?" Yang suggested.

"I don't trust you to drive when there's people around. Not at the speeds you go," I told her.

"Come on, it'll be fun," she replied. "Or we could go to a museum or something."

"Sounds fun, but it'll be packed on a weekend. We should go during the week."

"Fair point. You know, we could just stay inside today," Yang suggested seductively. "On nice days Blake goes to a sunny spot to read."

"Sounds good," I replied, smiling. We started walking together towards Yang's dorm building, but stopped when one of the most infamous people on campus got in our way. Cardin Winchester stood with his gang of cronies, smiling, while the sun glinted off his artificially whitened teeth. His grandfather had started a hunting rifle manufacturing company or something like that, I've never been interested in the details, but suffice to say his family was fairly well off. As you might expect from a person from a background like that, he only wore designer clothes and treated people he didn't like like dirt. Only his friends and other rich people were safe from his dickishness. He liked to start shit with people weaker than he was for fun, knowing they wouldn't or couldn't fight back. He especially hated anyone who was a Faunus, practiced a different religion or had different morals. In other words, people who had morals.

"Well, what have we here?" he asked slowly, voice dripping with contempt. Yang squeezed my hand slightly harder, and I could tell Cardin's presence was pissing her off. "Couple o' dykes?"

"Made a sex tape yet?" his friend Russel asked.

"That's a good point," Cardin said. "Everyone knows dykes are only good for fuckin' hot videos."

"Wait, Cardin, I think I know who the brunette is," another buddy of his, Sky, piped up.

"Shit, you're right!" Cardin replied. "She's the one with the Aussie rabbit for a pet!"

"Don't talk about her like that," I spat, getting as annoyed as Yang.

"What's the matter? You have to pick up her droppings this morning?" Cardin jeered. "Fuckin' Faunus lover. Disgusting," he added in an undertone. Unfortunately for him, Yang heard and, almost too fast for me to notice, ripped her hand from mine and decked Cardin square in the jaw. He glared at Yang and tried to punch back, but the blonde was far too quick. She brought her knee into his stomach, then clobbered him on the back of the head when he doubled over. His friends watched in awe, not sure whether to fight or run. Yang stared back at each of them in turn, daring them to try something. After several tense seconds, Russel foolishly decided to try his luck. He attempted to uppercut Yang's chin, am attack which the blonde easily sidestepped. She then launched a sideways kick at Russel's throat, bringing him down instantly.

By this point, a large crowd of students of all ages had gathered, watching Cardin and his gang finally get what was coming to them. After he and Russel staggered to their feet, the lot of them turned tail, pushing their way through the ranks of onlookers. A cheer went up as Yang stood in the middle of the circle, taking deep breaths to calm herself down. I waited a few seconds before taking her hand again and gently pressing my lips to hers, hyperaware of the dozens of pairs of eyes watching me. No one said anything insulting, and in fact one or two people started applauding.

"Good job!" someone called out. "You shouldn't have to hide who you are!"

At that point, I decided it was time for Yang and I to leave, so I started pulling her gently towards her dorm building. She followed almost unconsciously. I could tell she hadn't fully calmed down yet. As we approached the door, she came back to reality and started smiling.

"That felt really good," she beamed. "That guy's a bastard."

"Indeed he is," I replied. "Shame he's such a pussy; I could've watched you beat him up all day."

"What, does it turn you on?" she teased.

"I can't deny that you're hot when you fight," I told her. She laughed as she pushed open the door of the building with her free hand. She made a beeline for the stairs, for some unfathomable reason, taking me along with her because of our still-interlocked hands. "That's uh... That's not happening today," I told her, gesturing at my legs, which, while not as sore as earlier, definitely weren't up to taking the stairs to Yang's fourth-floor room.

"Sorry," she said, heading for the elevator instead. When we got to her room, she was quick to walk me over to her bed and push me down. A second later, her lips were on mine in a heated kiss. I felt her slip her tongue into my mouth as she got on top of me and straddled me, pinning my hands above my head. We fought for dominance of the kiss, but I was already at a disadvantage. I was happy to let the blonde win, however, because I was still loving every second of it.

She pulled back and sat up, staring at me with lust-filled eyes. "Are we going too fast?" she asked, almost anxiously.

"A little," I replied. "Let's not take it any further just yet."

"Okay," she said, bringing her lips back to mine. This kiss was just as heated as before, except she let my hands go. I allowed them to wander across her back, eventually resting one on a spot opposite her navel and one on the back of her head, pulling her face even closer to mine. She flicked her tongue across my lower lip before gently taking it between her teeth and nibbling on it slightly, eliciting a moan from me.

"You're an amazing kisser, you know that?" I asked when she pulled back again.

"I've been told," she replied grinning. A troubled look suddenly struck her beautiful face as she asked, "honestly though, are you in pain from the Wing Chun last night?"

"Yeah, kinda, but don't worry about it. Why?" I replied.

"It's my fault," she told me, sounding guilty. "I should've warned you to take it easy. I'm gonna help. Sit up and turn around," she commanded, getting off me. With some trepidation, I did as she asked.

"What are you-" I started to ask, but got cut off as she began massaging my shoulders. "Fuck, that feels good..." I sighed, enjoying the feeling of her hands.

"Relax," she whispered in my ear. I was glad to do so, and nearly fell asleep in her arms as she worked her magic.

A/N: I'm back, after over a month! First update to this story this year! Yay! Anyway, sorry about the wait. I keep having this problem where I get bored of the stories I'm doing but I'm not ready to end them, then I just start new ones. So, if you're wondering why this hasn't been updated in forever, I've been working on a story where Teams RWBY and JNPR all switch bodies (Science Gone Wrong), a Supernatural-inspired AU (Non Timebo Mala. It's not a crossover, and you don't have to watch Supernatural to understand it) and a Pussy Magnet fic (The Attraction of a Warrior). Little bit of shameless self-promotion there. Never mind that. Anyway, everyone who voted wants lemons, so that's gonna happen at some point down the road. Not anytime soon, given how short their relationship currently is. I'm also not gonna guarantee that they'll be any good, but that's why I need to write them. To improve. Also, the suggestion of going to a museum during the week may or may not be important in a chapter or two. I believe that's everything covered, so leave a review and follow/favourite if you want. Thanks for reading.
