Yang

I woke up late the next morning with my girlfriend's pleasant cocoa aroma invading my nostrils. She had a peaceful look on her face as she lay beside me, still sleeping blissfully. Rather than getting up and risking waking her, I decided to let her sleep.

I noticed that Blake was already gone, leaving Coco and I alone. As usual, she'd left no indication of where she was, but given that it was Saturday, I figured she was either in the library or in a park somewhere. No matter what, it was almost certain that she'd be reading.

I eventually had to get up to use the bathroom, and returned to find Coco awake and stretching. She smiled when she saw me. "Hey, beautiful," she greeted.

"Morning," I replied. "Did I wake you when I got up? I really had to pee."

"No, you were in there when I woke up, don't worry."

"Okay, good." She got up and crossed the room, pulling me into a welcome kiss when she reached me. I melted into the contact as our lips met, wrapping my arms around her and holding her close. As she slipped her tongue into my mouth, I let my hands wander. One of them reached her ass as our tongues entwined, and I began gently kneading the flesh. Coco moaned into my mouth before I gave her ass a light, playful smack and pulled away.

"Maybe one day you'll have the guts to continue," she teased, winking.

"I'm playing the long game, babe. Just you wait," I told her. Truthfully, it wasn't about making her wait so the anticipation would build and our first time would seem that much more special. It was more that I didn't want to rush into anything; I preferred to take this slow and steady for as long as I could. This was the first relationship where I'd ever felt a real connection to the other person, and I didn't want to mess it up by being hasty.

"What, you gonna make it a long time coming?"

"That was actually really good," I complimented. "Which is infuriating, because puns and dirty jokes are my department."

"What's infuriating is the frequency at which you make them," Coco replied sternly. The playful smile on her face took away from the effect though.

"You know you love me," I told her.

"Of course I do."

"And I love you too, so there's no problem," I said, pulling her in for another searing kiss.

"I'm gonna head back to my dorm and shower and change and stuff," she announced when we separated. "See you soon." She left, and I figured I'd better do the same. Before I could, however, my phone rang.

"Hello?" I asked when I took the call, not even bothering to check the caller ID.

"Hi, Yang!" Ruby's excitable voice answered. "When are you and Coco coming to see me?"

"What?" I replied, taken aback by the sudden question.

"When I saw you at the museum, you said you'd come see me soon. When are you coming?"

"We could probably come today," I told her. "You busy?"

"Nah. Mom and Dad are both home too."

"Well, I'll see if Coco has anything to do, and if not, we'll be there," I promised.

"You'd better. Otherwise I'll tell Mom and Dad you have a girlfriend you're not telling them about," Ruby threatened. That would be bad. Coco is the first girl I've ever dated; I wouldn't want my parents finding out about something like that from anyone other than me.

"You do that and I'll give you cookies with raisins instead of chocolate chips," I replied. "I'll text you when I find out if we're coming."

"Okay. Bye."

"Bye." I hung up and had a hurried shower, before getting dressed and texting Coco.

So, Ruby wants us to go see her today. You have anything to do?

Nah, I'm free.

So we'll go? She's gonna tell my parents about me dating someone if we don't.

Do you not want them to know?

No, it's just that I haven't told them and I'd rather be the one to do it. Especially considering you're the only person I've ever dated who doesn't have a dick.

Um...

At least, I very much hope that you don't.

YANG!

Sorry, sorry.

Anyway, yeah, let's go.

Kay. See you soon.

With that settled, I texted Ruby to let her know Coco and I would be visiting. She responded excitedly and told me I'd better bring cookies. Well, shit, I thought. I'd forgotten about that promise I'd made to her in the museum. Oh well. Guess we'll go to a bakery or something on the way there.

After showering, I was overcome with an inexplicable urge to tease Coco in some way while we were visiting my family. Hence, I carefully chose my outfit to be as revealing as possible without wearing something that would give my parents a heart attack if they saw me in it. I finally settled on a fairly low-cut crop top, exposing a fair amount of cleavage as well as my toned stomach. The shorts I picked out were fairly short as well, but nothing was hanging out, so I figured I'd be fine. I wore my normal combat boots and Coco's yin yang pendant to complete the outfit, and headed out to meet the brunette.

I found her in the parking garage, leaning on my bike. She hadn't done anything special with her appearance, having only donned her regular clothes, but her jaw dropped when she saw what I was wearing. She quickly regained her composure and tried to look as though she weren't affected by the sight presented to her as I walked over to the locker with our helmets in it.

"We need to stop off at a bakery and get cookies," I told her as I tossed her helmet over to her. "I promised Ruby that day at the museum. Forgot about it."

"Sure," Coco replied. "Where are we gonna put them though? It's not like either of us can hold them on a motorbike."

"There's a compartment under the seat," I pointed out matter-of-factly.

"Right. Obviously," she replied, blushing a little. "I was uh... Just testing you."

"Sure you were," I said with a wink as I mounted my bike.

"Yes, Xiao Long, I was," she insisted as she got on the bike behind me. I smirked as her arms wrapped round my waist, then I manoeuvred out onto the street. We quickly found a bakery where I bought several varieties of cookies for Ruby, a cream horn each for my parents, a chocolate chip muffin for myself and some coffee cake for Coco.

The food was stored in the compartment under the bike's seat and we headed out into the suburbs to where I had lived before moving to Beacon's campus to save time commuting to class and work. The ride wasn't too long and Coco and I soon found ourselves in front of my family's house. After retrieving the food from under the seat, I took her hand and marched up to the front door. As I was deciding whether I should knock, given I hadn't visited in a while, or just walk in as though I hadn't moved out, the door was opened by Ruby.

"Hi!" she greeted, enthusiastic as ever. "Cookies?" she added, looking at the bag I had in the hand Coco wasn't holding.

"Yes, Ruby," I told her. "Be patient."

"Okay," she groaned. "Mom and Dad are in the living room." Coco and I followed her to the living room, where my parents were watching TV. Taiyang turned it off as we walked in, and they both stood up to greet us.

"Hi, Dad," I said putting the bag down and releasing Coco's hand so I could hug him. "Hi, Summer," I added, hugging the woman who'd raised me as her own daughter. "This is Coco," I told them both.

"Hi," the brunette greeted politely, extending her hand.

"I'm Taiyang Xiao Long," my dad responded, shaking.

"Summer Rose," Summer introduced herself, also shaking Coco's hand. "I'm Yang's stepmother, if you're wondering why she called me by name."

"Ah."

"We brought food," I announced, opening the bag and passing around the baked goods. Ruby devoured every single one of her cookies before any of the rest of us were even halfway through our own stuff.

"So, Yang, how've things been since we last saw you?" Taiyang asked when we'd all finished eating.

"Great. I won a big-ass trophy and a bunch of money," I replied.

"Oh yeah, the tournament. And how's Qrow doing?"

"He's the same as ever. Threatened to cut my hair off with a sword once because I was too lazy to tie it up."

"Yes, he's a bit eccentric at times, your uncle. Still, he's a good man," Summer observed.

"Hey, Yang, didn't you have something to tell Mom and Dad?" Ruby asked. I shot daggers at her because I knew what she was talking about but I had been building up to it in my mind.

"Yeah, uh... You might be kinda surprised by this..." I started, forcing a smile. Even though I sincerely doubted either of my parents would see a problem with me dating a girl, I still found myself strangely nervous about telling them. "See, uh..." I looked at Coco, not really sure how to say it. She nodded encouragingly as Taiyang and Summer looked at me expectantly.

"Yang, honey, we're not going to judge you or anything. Whatever it is, we can take it," my stepmother told me patiently.

"I know," I replied. "So um... Coco and I are kinda dating. She's my girlfriend." Taiyang blinked in surprise but said nothing. Meanwhile, Summer just smiled.

"Why was that so hard to say?" she asked. "I actually think it's good to see you trying new things." Looking at Coco, she quickly added, "not that I think you're an experiment of any kind, don't get me wrong, dear."

"Don't worry about it, Ms. Rose," Coco told her.

"Please, call me Summer."

"Okay."

"So how'd you two meet?" Taiyang asked.

"Not the most interesting story, really," I replied. "I started working at the coffee shop on campus, Coco was in often, we got to know each other and it sorta escalated, you know?"

"I went to the tournament with her," Coco said, smiling as she remembered the event. "Some of the stuff I saw was really impressive."

"Oh, and I got hypnotised last night," I blurted out.

"Really?" Summer asked. "How'd that come about?"

"A hypnotist came to do a show, he needed volunteers so I went up," I explained.

"Did he make you do funny stuff?" Ruby asked excitedly.

"Well, she thought she had twelve fingers," Coco replied. "Then she thought she had eleven and couldn't figure out where the other one went."

"Why?"

"I recorded the show. We could watch the videos now, if you want," the brunette offered.

"Yeah, sure. I haven't seen them yet," I pointed out.

"But don't you remember what you did?" Taiyang asked.

"Well, yeah, but I wanna see what everything looked like to someone who was watching," I explained. For the next couple of hours, we entertained ourselves watching the videos Coco had taken. Based on Ruby's expressions at some points, I figured she wasn't gonna let me live some of it down, like the counting problem. Eventually, though, I figured it was getting kinda late and that Coco and I should return to school.

"Leaving?" Summer asked when I got up.

"Yeah, it's getting dark. I'm not sure Coco trusts me to drive at night," I replied.

"I'm not sure anyone does, honey," Taiyang told me. "I know what you're like."

"Oh, uh... Whatever are you talking about?" I asked innocently, trying to pretend I'd never driven over the speed limit in my life.

"I'm not gonna chastise you," my father reassured me. "I figure I can't stop you from driving like a maniac, so I'm just gonna tell you not to let the police see."

"Taiyang!" Summer exclaimed, slapping him playfully. "Seriously though, Yang, don't hurt yourself."

"Don't worry, I won't."

"Coco, it was nice meeting you," Summer told my girlfriend.

"Yeah, you seem like a great person. Make sure my daughter doesn't do anything stupid, will you?" Taiyang added jokingly.

"Nice to meet you too," Coco replied to them both. "Ruby, I'll see you around."

"Bye, Coco. Bye, Yang. Come visit more!" Ruby demanded.

"I'll try to," I promised as I opened the front door. Coco and I waved one last time as I closed it and we got back on my bike. "Wanna go for a joyride?" I asked seductively.

"We can certainly take the scenic route," Coco replied.

"Hold on tight, babe," I told her. She wrapped her arms round my waist and I took off, intentionally taking a longer route than necessary back to Beacon. Surprisingly, I heard the brunette let out exhilarated yells. She'd definitely grown accustomed to my riding style.

Eventually, we were back on campus. I parked the bike and stowed the helmets before escorting Coco back to her dorm. We walked slowly, hand in hand, enjoying having each other and no one else after being surrounded by my family all day. I'd enjoyed the visit and all, but being alone with Coco was another kind of enjoyable altogether.

When we got to her room, she was quick to place a hand on the back of my head and pull me in for a kiss. I gladly reciprocated as I embraced her, parting her lips with my tongue. I explored her mouth as she pulled me in even closer, the curves of our bodies pressing together. I gently bit down on her lower lip and pulled on it before releasing it and staring into her eyes.

"Goodnight," I whispered.

"Night, beautiful," she whispered back, planting one last lingering kiss on my lips before heading into her room. I walked back to my own in a good mood. I'd had a great day visiting my family, my parents had approved of Coco, all was well.

That night, I dreamt of the brunette and what she'd said earlier. One day, you'll have the guts to continue. Suffice to say, I woke up to a wet patch in my boy shorts.

A/N: Back to Bittersweet. Sorry, I was working a lot on one of my other stories because there was a part I really wanted to get through. Anyway, I don't have too much to say about this chapter, but the next one is gonna have a bit of a timeskip and lemons. You've been warned. I'll indicate the start and end in the chapter though, so don't worry if you forget. That's all, so thanks for reading, leave a review and follow/favourite if you want.
