So guess who hasn't updated in a long time (hint: it me) I REPENT MY SINS

please leave a review wen you're done (I'll make you a mixtape)

The engine revved as Neji Hyuuga waited outside the high school. His recently cut hair flopped in his eyes, causing a wrinkle on his normally stoic face, and he purposefully leaned against the car door, keys lazily dangling from his hand. He honked the horn in impatience, annoyed that his cousin was dawdling near the front entrance and talking to a girl with pink hair. Neji squinted his eyes; although Hinata was quite a friendly person, he wasn't sure his uncle would approve of her hanging out with such a bold girl. Hinata jumped at his honk and hurried down the steps, waving at her friend and attempting to hug her books at the same time. Neji saw where this was going and got up off his car just in time to see all of Hinata's books tumble onto the pavement. He sighed and walked towards her, only to be overtaken by a girl who bent down and helped Hinata collect her books with ease.

"Hinata, you need to stop trying to please everyone. Sakura would've been fine with a plain goodbye. Use your voice more often!" Neji raised an eyebrow.

"Maybe she could if you ever stopped for breath." The girl turned around and glared at him, sticking out her tongue and standing up. TenTen was in his grade but he swore she acted like a middle schooler most of the time. How he was competing with her for top spot was mind-boggling.

"T-thank you TenTen. I was just going to ask you i-i-if you wanted to come over. I just got my order in a-and you said you wanted to see which ones I picked out." Neji felt a sense of dread come over him. TenTen considered it for a second and turned to Neji with a smirk.

"Well, if it means I get to bother your cousin for an entire afternoon, I couldn't resist!" Neji sighed.

"Some people might think you're infatuated with me, the way you talk." TenTen laughed rather boisterously.

"Infatuated with the idea of you losing your precious pride over top spot, sure. I'm not sure it's possible for anyone to feel anything but contempt for you." Neji glared at her.

"Coming from the one who confessed her undying love to me. On the first day of school." TenTen opened her mouth slightly, a flush creeping its way to her cheeks. Neji knew he'd won this round and smirked; he really enjoyed getting her all flustered.

"You know, that card is getting really old. That was before I realised how much of an arrogant dick you are most of the time." He raised an eyebrow and climbed into his convertible, revving the engine again to hurry the two girls up. Hinata rushed into the car and TenTen leisurely walked around the car. As soon as she had sit down, Neji hit the gas, barely giving TenTen time to close her door as he drove out of the parking lot.

"N-Neji!" Hinata gave him her best glare – it didn't amount to much – and he glanced in the rearview mirror to see TenTen glaring back at him.

"It's okay Hinata, Neji apparently cares more about annoying me than damaging his car. In a convoluted way, it's almost a compliment." She smirked and sat back, enjoying the wind as Neji drove onto the highway. She almost looked peaceful and Neji was not at all used to this. Most of the time she was either angry at him or trying to get some kind of reaction out of him.

TenTen stretched as they drove up to the Hyuuga residence; the driveway itself could've been a road. She'd been there plenty of times, as Hinata was one of her close friends, but the grandiose mansion and lands were something she could never get used to. They stopped in a parking spot meant especially for Neji's convertible and she hopped out, grabbing her backpack and admiring the newly planted tulips.

"I see you're getting ready for spring." She smiled, bending over to smell the flowers.

"I see you still need confirmation for something you can see. Are you sure you don't still need those coke bottle glasses?" TenTen turned and glared at Neji. Her awkward looks freshman year were still the butt of many of Neji's jokes, even though she'd most definitely grown into them in the past four years.

"I'm wearing contacts you numbskull and your comments about my appearance just prove that you did in fact notice me freshman year so maybe you should rethink that particular jab." Neji simply raised an eyebrow and gestured for her to follow Hinata into their not-so-humble abode.

TenTen ran to catch up with Hinata as she climbed the huge staircase. Plopping on Hinata's huge bed and dumping her backpack on the rug beneath her, TenTen groaned into the fluffy comforter. She could hear Hinata's chuckle with her face mashed into the bedsheets. Picking her head up to breathe, TenTen caught a reflection of herself in the mirror and cringed. Convertibles were fun and all but not good for her hair, which were almost always up in buns.

"Yo, Hinata do you happen to have a brush somewhere?" Hinata threw her a brush from the dresser and disappeared into her bathroom, leaving TenTen to pull the useless pins out of her hair and attempt to brush her hair into something that didn't look like a bush. She hummed a little, enjoying the massage of the brush against her scalp. TenTen wasn't a fan of keeping her hair down – barely anyone had ever seen her with her hair loose – but the tight buns did make her head feel a little sore from time to time.

TenTen stared at the mirror, tilting her head back and forth; she took very good care of her hair so it was quite nice and glossy, but she still wasn't used to seeing it down. Suddenly Neji popped his head in the room.

"Hinata, Uncle wanted to know if you-" He made eye contact with TenTen and broke off his sentence. TenTen's hair was down. TenTen's hair was down and –damn it– it looked good. Keeping a stoic look on his face, Neji walked into the room, watching TenTen struggle to put her hair back into its buns as if under a time constraint. He smirked.

"We're not in a drama, I'm not going to suddenly fall in love with you just because you put your hair down." TenTen glared at his reflection in the mirror.

"I would rather not give you the satisfaction of being the first person to see my hair down, besides my family. Besides, if I meant for you to fall in love with me, I'm sure I could've managed it by now." He chuckled slightly.

"I'm not sure that's possible, given your past attempts." Neji watched TenTen's face bypass pink and turn a deep red; he walked past her and rapped his knuckles on the bathroom door.

"Hinata, Uncle wants to know if TenTen is staying for dinner and if you just want to order a pizza instead of having a sit down dinner." After hearing Hinata's muffled confirmation, he nodded and made to walk out but paused behind TenTen, who was currently fuming at the dresser table. Neji felt a little uncomfortable; he had been bringing up that awkward first month way too often and although he enjoyed getting TenTen mad, he knew she was a completely different person from the shy awkward girl he met and probably wasn't happy with all the reminders of her past.

He stuck his hands in his pockets and kicked the carpet.

"By the way, I think your hair looks very nice, no matter how you style it." Neji muttered and fast-walked out of the room, a pink blush tingeing his face.

Hinata walked out of the bathroom in her first outfit, expecting TenTen to be waiting for her. Instead she found TenTen with her buns unravelling and a strange look on her face as she stared at the door. Her face was a lot paler than it normally was and she seemed to be processing something beyond Hinata's knowledge.

She murmured softly, "TenTen? Are you feeling okay?" and TenTen snapped out of her reverie, pasting a bright smile on her face.

"Ah yes, just remembered a book I was reading yesterday." Hinata raised an eyebrow in disbelief but she didn't further pursue the subject. But she did notice that TenTen left her hair down and when Neji came up with the pizza for them, she refused to make eye contact and didn't even crack a joke about him being a pizza delivery boy.

sorry it's a pretty crappy try but college is evil man. evil. I hope it wasn't horrible and I shall update as soon as I can. (it might be in months knowing my time management issues) (sorry in advance)
