Chapter 4

Discovery and the Council

Issei, Scarlet and Justin along with Kushina and little baby Naruto were all in the kitchen in the Uzumaki compound having breakfast, two days have passed by since the Nine Tails attack and the Fourth Hokages sacrifice.

Since then Issei has woken up from being knocked out as a result of being blasted into the Dimensional Gap and Justin has mostly recovered from his wounds at the hands of Diobora, even with his high regeneration factor and healing magic to help along the magic that the Dragon God Ophis had given Diobora had made the wounds slow to heal properly, couple that fighting a powerful demonic entity on the scale of the Kyubi and it was easy to understand why it took so long for him to properly recover.

For the last day or so the devils have settled into life at the Uzumaki compound, Justin and Issei love spending time with the baby and help out whenever they can with him except for when it came to changing his diaper, then they ran away from the roof fast, for Justin the excuse was that his enhanced senses made it difficult to even remain in the house whenever Naruto left a present for them in his nappy, Issei had no such excuse and just didn't want to change the baby's nappy no matter how cute and adorable he was. Scarlet took it upon herself to help out around the house doing the chores and cleaning up in order to ease the burden on Kushina, as for the woman herself she was glad for the presence of the Devils their strange and weird behaviour as well as their helpful attitudes made it easier on her, one for helping out around the house and another for helping her not to feel lonely in the big house.

Currently the Devils were filling Kushina in on a remarkable discovery that they had encountered, "What! Are you serious?" And that was the combined shout of surprise from Scarlet, Issei and Kushina, thankfully little Naruto was fast asleep and slept like a log so he didn't wake up thanks to that. Justin frowns, "Yes I am serious and keep your voices down or you'll wake Naruto." The three shouters look over to where the baby is laying in its mothers arms softly cooing in his sleep, all of their expressions soften at the sight, Scarlet turns around to face her mate again, "Back to the topic at hand what the hell do you mean that we have chakra now?" Justin calmly sips on his tea, "Elementary my dear Scarlet." Scarlet's faces goes bright red and slams her fist onto Justin's head, "Don't you dare quote my favourite book and act like a genius." Justin smirks and rub the top of his head, "Ouch that hurt Scarlet-chan." Scarlet raises her fist threateningly, "You want another lump to go with the first one pretty boy!"

Justin chuckles and coughs into his hand, "As I was saying I discovered that we now have chakra in our bodies thanks to the ritual that Kushina- san performed, not only did our blood and features change to match hers but it also gave us chakra as well more specifically I think it gave us the Uzumaki bloodline chakra. It was by complete accident I discovered this, I was going through all my powers trying to get an estimate on how long it would take me to fully recover which by the way is still going to take a few weeks at most and when I turned on my eyes I could see the chakra flowing through my body, after checking you and Issei it quickly became clear to me that the ritual worked exactly as it was intended too down to the fact that it gave us all a chakra network."

Kushina bites her thumbnail, "Hmm that makes things easier I wasn't sure that the ritual would work as intended I mean you aren't human and don't have chakra at all so it was a gamble, however I am glad that it worked as intended because now I have two brothers and a sister and my little Naru-chan has two Uncles and an Aunt to look after him." Issei looked proud however the two others looked pale and shocked Justin bows his head and covers his face with his hand, Scarlet covers her mouth with her hand and tears stream down her face, Kushina looks worried, Issei seeing her worried and confused face as well as his two comrades quickly put the pieces together, "Ahh Kushina-chan sorry about them you just hit on a bit of a landmine with those two, you see they haven't had a family since they were 15 years old, their village was wiped out and people massacred so they have been on their own for a long time until they meet and became devils under Rias Gremory we sort of became their family."

Kushina looks shocked and hands Issei the baby before moving almost robotically toward the two sobbing devils and envelopes them in a warm hug, holding them close to her, both looked shocked beyond measure and slowly sink into the hug and let their tears run free, Issei walks out of the room with the baby with a small smile on his face, "Heh I was right in my first impression she is like in ways other than appearance Rias-buchou." A few tears drop from his face and land on Naruto who wakes up and coos at him, Issei sobs and laughs at the same time before bouncing the baby in his arms and heading into the nursery.

Back with the family bonding moment Justin smiles warmly and gently pushes Kushina away from him rubbing a few stray tears from his face he smiles widely at her, "Thank you Kushina- No Onee-Chan." Kushina smiles at him for called her, "sister" and Scarlet looks a little bit shocked but quickly shakes it off and smiles at her too, "Yes thank you, you have given us something that we had lost a long time ago and we promise that we won't let you down." Justin coughs into his hand, "I uh I'll go get Issei and head into town to help with the reconstruction, you two wonderful ladies stay here and have a nice time yeah?" He leaves the room without even hearing their response leaving both women with their jaws hanging open before Scarlet cracked first and burst out laughing, "Hahaha he is still awkward in emotional situation oh my god he is so cute when he gets like that hahaha." Kushina quickly follows her in laughing as Justin drags Issei out of the compound by the ear with a very red blush on his cheeks.

It didn't take long before the two boys came across the first reconstruction site on a main street where the Kyubi had completely trashed with its massive paws, buildings were completely smashed to pieces, the main street was torn up that it barely even looked like a street and there were still bodies being pulled out of running buildings and off the street, the mood between the two devils quickly turned sober, "I knew it was bad but this. I never imagined that the damage was this bad." Issei looked stunned and Justin shakes his head, "My village was way worse after the massacre, bodies just left where they fell houses left in flames people crying out for help just to be ignored the bastards didn't even have the decency to end their suffering they just let them burn." Justin's fists turn white from how hard he is clenching them, Issei notices right away and pats him on the shoulder, "Hey take it easy man, there is no point in dragging up the past especially with people right in front of you that need help." Justin relaxes and takes a deep breath before cocking an eyebrow at Issei, "Oh so you're finally letting your serious side show then Issei I was wondering how long it would take." Issei grimaces, "Yeah well with the reputation that I had at Kuoh can you blame me for not being more serious besides I still love boobs and that will never change, I will still suck on Rias-buchous boobs no matter what!" Justin smiles at little before gibsmacking him across the head, "Pervert." With a slight grin on his face, Issei rubs his head mockingly, before snorting, "Tch like you can talk, women talk bro and Scarlet has told Rais and Akeno all about what you are like in bed, a kinky insatiable pervert." Justin blushes bright red, "Shut up." Issei points at his face and laughs, "Ahah its fucking true oh man your face." Justin smacks him into the ground his face even redder, "Shut up idiot and let's get to work." Issei shakes off the dirt from his head and follows and muttering under his breath, "Now if only that wasn't your natural reaction to being embarrassed."

The two devils head to the nearest building and offer their help to the men repairing the building they look at them with suspicion one of them walks forward a muscular buff man with a cigar in his mouth, "And why would two foreigners want to help us, how do we know that you aren't spies sent to spy on Konoha?" The men behind heads in agreement, Issei steps forward looking ready to argue with them before he can however a hand on his shoulder stops him, he turns and gives Justin a confused look, Justin just shakes his head and steps forward and bows, "My apologies, let us introduce ourselves, my name is Justin Uzumaki and this is Issei Uzumaki pleasure to meet you." The men stiffen at hearing their surname while the Uzumaki clan had almost been wiped out in the Second Ninja War and their village destroyed their clan was still highly respected in Konoha they even had the Uzumaki swirl on the back of their Ninja uniforms, having not just one but two clan members address them and offer help only to throw it back in their faces and accuse the of being spies didn't bodes well for them, all the men bow low to the ground, the leader the most of all, "We beg your forgiveness Uzumaki-sama we had no idea who you were and with the Kyubi attack is under a lot of stress and…" Justin silences the man by holding his hand up, "Please stop it is quite alright, no harm done at all, now my brother and I will help you out if you want?"

The men smile and nod their heads in unison, the leader looks relieved and points to a stack of lumber, "Could you help with cutting that lumber to length and then moving it?" Justin and Issei share a look and smile, "Sure no problem."

Back at the Uzumaki compound the two women were gushing over how cute Naruto was being his little arms failing widely and his giggling were so cute that if you didn't know better you would say that they were fangirling over him by the hearts in their eyes, of course looking after a baby is more than just gushing over its cuteness over the course of the day both women took it in turns changing his nappy nursing him and keeping him entertained while the other did house work or just had some time to themselves to relax.

Just as Naruto drop off for his afternoon nap a knock on the door alerted the two women that someone was at the door, Kushina smiles at Scarlet and both women walk tot eh door and open it only to find two masked shinobi dressed in their ANBU uniforms one with a Weasel design on it and the other with a Hawke on it, the Weasel was rather short but the Hawke was quite tall, both bow slightly to Kushina, "Sorry to interrupt Kushina-sama you and your guest have been summoned by the Council." Kushina frown's a little, "Understood Hawke-san my brothers are currently out in the village aiding in the reconstruction efforts." If Hawke and Weasel were at all shocked by her use of the word brothers then they didn't show it at all apart from shifting their weight form one foot to another, "Understood we will fetch them and have them meet you at the Council Chambers." The two ANBU then vanish in a swirl of leaves however if you looked carefully you could see them seemly teleport small distances across the roof tops, Scarlet shakes her head and smiles, "If Kiba saw that he would go green with envy." Kushina cocks her head confused but Scarlet shakes her head and chuckles, "Never mind we better not keep the Council waiting, lets go." Kushina smiles and makes a hand sign, "Kage Bushin no Jutsu" In a puff of white smoke three Shadow Clones form and go into the nursery to look after the baby and guard him in case of any fool play the Civilians could try. Scarlet looks impressed, "Impressive, can you teach us that?" Kushina laughs, "Do you really think I won't teach my family everything I know, you're an Uzumaki and we stand together no matter what dattabane!" Scarlet smiles warmly before both of them head out the door toward the Council Chambers.

When the two arrive they are quickly ushered into the chamber only to find that the whole council including the Hokage were there, Kushina quickly smiles at her sister and takes her seat on the Ninja side of the Council as Head of the Uzumaki Clan, Sarutobi grumbles in annoyance at being called here so late in the afternoon for an emergency session of the Council without even being told what it was about, "Alright this Council is now in session now can someone please tell me why we have been summoned here so late in the afternoon and while we in the middle of rebuilding the village?" Although he was irritated he kept an even tone. One of the civilians a Daisuke Hanamoura stood up he was the head of several prominent shops and supplied the village most of its provisions, "We called this session to bring up two important points Hokage-sama the first is to the do with the three foreigners that have been seen in the village, we of the Council would like an explanation to their presence." Scarlet and Kushina viably twitch at his tone of voice, Kushina decides to get the matter settled and quickly, "I would assume that my brothers and sister would be allowed to visit me Hanamoura-san and as far as I am aware my brothers are right now aiding in the reconstruction effort so what seems to be the problem?"

The entire council chamber goes silent at her declaration and Hanamoura looked like he had swallowed a very bitter lemon so much so that he actually stuttered his reply, "B. and Sister? How is that possible Uzumaki-sama your entire clan was wiped out in the Second War?" Kushinas eyebrow twitches at the mention of her clan but she calms herself down losing her temper at the idiot would only make things worse, "My home and most of clan was destroyed, however I was moved to Konoha before the attack occurred, my brothers and sister stayed and fought during the attack and according to them the Head of the Clan ordered the remaining clan members that were still alive to flee while he and the Elders held off the attackers, they managed to get into contact with me here in Konoha and I have been exchanging letters with them for some time. The reason they are here was that they were to come to be with me to see the birth of my son." At the mention of her son the Civilians mood turns cold one of them a pink haired short woman with a high pitched voice Sakuya Haruno shouts out with a scream that is equal or worse than a howler monkey, "THAT DEMON IS NO CHILD IT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BORN, HOKAGE-SAMA PLEASE ALLOW US TO PUBLICALLY EXECUTE THE DEMON AT ONCE!" The rest of the civilian Council members all stand up and start shouting their approval of the pink haired banshees idea, Scarlet's eyes widen and her jaw drops at what just these people were saying about a three day year old baby, an innocent baby, Scarlet clenches her fist tightly trying to rein in her rage and her desire to tear apart the fuckers that were talking about killing a baby, a fucking baby of all things! Before anything else can be said however the doors to the Chamber opened and in walked Justin and Issei, sweating blushing red from obvious hard work and more importantly wearing their shirts around their waists leaving their impressive chests bare to the world for everyone to see…

That sight shut up every Council member, every female including Tsume Inuzuka, Mikoto Uchiha and Kushina herself all blushed as they looked at the two young men's impressive chests, both weren't too muscular but there wasn't a single hint of fat on either of their bodies, instead it was pure muscle, tanned and toned to perfection that had most women and even some men on the council drooling at the sight, the two men in question suddenly shiver as if someone had dropped an ice cube down their backs and hurriedly put their shirts back on, much to the disappointment of their audience. Justin clears his throat and scratches the back of his head, "Um sorry we're late we kind of got caught up in working on the reconstruction, so what's the important matter that was so important that we had to drop everything and rush over here?"

Before anyone could even begin to form a sentence Scarlet decided to tip the scales in their favour in an icy cold tone she said the words that would show exactly why you don't fuck with Justin "Soul Reaver" Rhodes and Scarlet "Wild Wolf" Johnston, "I believe that the honourable council members were just discussing plans to murder our nephew Naruto…" Silence complete utter silence filled the room at the end of that sentence, Issei and Justin's faces broadcasted a wide range of emotions, Shock, Disgust, Anger, Rage was the last one that was present on both their faces both men nod to each other and push out a heavy, thick and suffocating killing intent that had most of the council gasping for air, smashed into the ground from the sheer pressure coming from them, what was worse was that when the information reached the spirits that shared Justin's mind, soul and body they added their own potent intent to his own, Doyle in particular was the most aggressive and had the strongest intent for "daring to hurt a kit", all of that intent added to Justin and Issei's already potent intent magnified the effect tenfold to the point that only the Hokage was barely able to stand and those that the intent wasn't directed at, Kushina smothers a giggle at the two men's protectiveness, they had only been with Naruto for three days and just the threat of him being killed provoked this kind of reaction it was obvious that the two were going to be as overprotective of the baby as a mother hen.

Before either devil could act on their intentions to brutally maim the Civilians the Hokage managed to gather his resolve and throw some of his own rather impressive killing intent and yelled out, "ENOUGH! Naruto is no demon but its container, there will be no execution and if I hear of any attempts to have him killed it will be your worthless corpses on display outside Hokage Tower, IS THAT UNDERSTOOD!" Justin and Issei halted their killing intent as there was simply no need for it anymore, with the addition to the Hokages the Civilians had all fallen to the floor and some had even fainted, both males smirk in pride and Justin discreetly gives Sarutobi a smile and a thumbs up behind his back, the aged Hokage let a small smile pass across his features, "Now if there is nothing else then I suggest we all go back to work, we have a village to repair and a funeral to prepare for."

Before Sarutobi could bring the session to the end, one of the council members a black haired man that had bandages covering most of his body including his right eye and arm spoke up, "Actually Hiruzen I put forward the motion to have Naruto Uzumaki turned over to my care for training." Sarutobi narrows his eyes and actually glares at his long-time rival and former friend Danzo Shimura, Justin just by looking at the guy could feel all sorts of bad shit coming from the guy, his aura was practically black and thick like tar and with the fact that Sarutobi had actually glared at the man told him all he needed to know, Danzo Shimura was not to be trusted and there was no way in hell Naruto was going anywhere with him.

Kushina thankfully cut into the proceedings, "Like hell you will you crippled old bastard, that is my son you are talking about and he is going nowhere is that understood." The entire Shinobi side of the Council nodded in agreement, Danzo's ROOT program was one of the worst kept secrets in Konoha emotionless puppets that followed only his orders, the only reason that they were tolerated was that it would be too dangerous to try to root them out, not only has their main base location impossible to locate but every member had a seal put on their tongue that prevented them from betraying Danzo in any way, not like that mattered anyway with the fact that they had been brainwashed and their emotions taken from them as well as the loyalty seal put on them only insured that no information could be gained from a captured operative and the last thing that Konoha could afford right now was a civil war after the Kyubi attack and the very real prospect that enemy spies form other villages had probably already infiltrated the village any sign of weakness or internal struggle and the other villages would descend on the villages like vultures on a corpse.

So there was no way they would let Danzo get his hands on Naruto not out of any semblance of loyalty to the kid but he was a Jinchūriki (Power of the Human Sacrifice) a demon container it would be too dangerous to let Danzo get his hands on any one of them, if he did there was no doubt in anyone's mind that his "training" would only turn the kid into his personal weapon." Justin backed up Kushina's impassioned shout with one of his own, unfortunately with his emotions running high as they were it came out as an animalistic growl that nobody bar Tsume Inuzuka and Scarlet understood, "Damn right you one-eyed prick he is a pack member touch him and I'll rip your balls off and hang you with them!"

Scarlet and Tsume instantly roared with laughter and were quickly reduced to tears from the shear intensity of their laughter in reaction to what Justin had said and while the other members of the Shinobi side of the Council had no idea what he had said they assumed that it was rather insulting, Hiashi Hyūga raised an eyebrow at Tsume who had calmed down enough to speak, "H. said that if Danzo so much as touched Naruto then he would cut his balls off and hang him with them." With that the Shinobi side of the Council descended into fits of laughter even the stoic Hiashi Hyūga let a small amused smile appear on his face and the Hokage himself had trouble containing his laughter at the threat, while Danzo kept his features blank on the inside however he was furious at being mocked and shut down by a "brat" like Justin.

Once everyone had recovered form their laughter Sarutobi finally ended the Council session however as Tsume was leaving she wondered silently how both the young man and women understood the canine language and resolved to ask them about it as soon as she got the chance, those two were really interesting. "Justin, Scarlet, Issei and Kushina could you meet me in my office, I have something that I need to discuss with you four." Nodding their heads all four of them head into the Hokage Tower and find the desk in the centre of the office burdened with an impressive amount of paperwork that made Sarutobi and Justin shiver with revulsion, Sarutobi cocks an eyebrow at the young man who smiles sheepishly, "Rais always made me do the paperwork whenever she needed to have a break so I am well aware of the horrors of paperwork." Sarutobi nods and sits at his desk, sighs and suddenly looks his age the strength that he had in the Chamber was gone and in its pace was a tired old man, "I'll be honest with you four even with my new Law in place that prevents any of the older generation telling the younger about Naruto's status as a Jinchūriki I have little faith that those vipers on the Civilian Council will follow it, in fact I am damn sure that they will do their best to make your lives as difficult as possible simply because your related to Naruto and will protect him." All four of the Uzumaki clan narrow their eyes and their determination is clear to protect Naruto no matter what, Sarutobi smiles a little at their attitude, "Kushina you are the Head of the Uzumaki clan so the Council can't touch you in any way however the same does not apply to your brothers and sister as they aren't ninja of Konoha, things could get really nasty for you three but thankfully I have come up with a solution that may benefit all parties."

He takes three pieces of paperwork out of the pile, "These are applications forms for application to join the ANBU forces under my command, they are my personal forces and as such are not related to the Council in anyway, not only would your identities be protected, but you can learn about the village while protecting it and Naruto from threats both inside and outside that is if you accept?" Justin smirks, "You've had this planned since I had that talk with you haven't you?" Sarutobi smiles sadly, "Yes I have a lot to make up for my mistake and this is just the start, while I may not be able to help Naruto and your clan directly, there is nothing stopping me from aiding you indirectly inducting you into ANBU is just the start I promise." Justin, Scarlet and Issei smile and sign the sheets of paper to Sarutobi's delight he files the paperwork and then takes out a scroll and out pops several porcelain white ANBU masks with several unclaimed designs, "Pick a mask and that will be your identity from here on out until you leave the service."

All three devils smile and pick a mask that means the most to each individual, Issei picks the Dragon, Scarlet picks the Wolf and Justin, Justin picks the mask with the Black Shadow design on it, their new lives as ninja had begun.
