p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"Agae sat by the fire, gently poking it with her dagger. They had found some bedrolls located in one of the carts left in Helgen, and had set up camp outside of the destroyed town. Padraic and Cassia were asleep, each curled up on opposite ends of the camp. It was Agae's turn to keep watch. Flames crackled as the fire began to die, the flames getting increasingly smaller as minutes passed. She sat in silence, her silver eyes transfixed on the dying cinders, occasionally standing up to stretch. After another hour or two, she moved to wake up Padraic when she heard something. She spun as she strained her ears, holding her breath. br / Someone was here. br / "Padraic, get up." She shook the Breton's / He groaned in protest, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. "My shift already?"br / "Someone's here."br / In an instant he was awake and alert, sliding out of his bed roll and equipping his ebony / "What's going on?" Cassia asked, the commotion waking her / "Quiet," Padraic hushed her as Agae carefully slid her greatsword into her hand. "Do you see them?" He whispered, pressing his back against his step-sister's. In this situation, Padraic was blind. It was too dark to see, the fire had died down, and it was too cloudy for the moon to shine its light. Agae, being a werewolf, could easily detect the intruder thanks to her sharp eyes, ears, and / "There's two coming from your direction," She stood still for a moment, trying to focus on one of them. He held something in his hands, but by the time she realized what it was, it was too late. She shoved Padraic out of the way, the arrow piercing her shoulder. "Get down!" She told Cassia through clenched teeth. br / Padraic was already moving. The clouds had finally moved, and the moon was bright enough to expose the two invaders. They both wore red and black outfits; a common trait of the dark brotherhood. One was already nocking another arrow, and a glowing light began to form in the other one's / "Are you okay?" Cassia asked, gaping at the arrow protruding from Agae's / Without even flinching, Agae ripped the arrow out, blood pouring freely from the open wound. She growled, "Just fine," and took off, charging after / "Take the mage! I got the archer!" The Breton shouted as he dodged an arrow, the tip barely scratching his cheek. With a shout, he swung the blade across the archer's stomach, but the assassin jumped backwards and unsheathed his own weapon; a deadric dagger. br / "Nice blade you got, hope you don't mind if I take it?" The assassin smirked, darting forward with a stabbing motion. Padraic side-stepped the attack, grabbing the assassin's arm and snapping it with a sickening crunch. He screamed, dropping his knife and grabbed his limp arm, and Padraic went in for the finishing blow, slitting his / Agae ducked as a wave of fire passed over her head, and she swung her heavy blade at the mage's midriff, the tip catching the edge of the assassin's tunic. He jumped back, holding his hand up in the air as golden light began to circle around / "Oh no you don't!" Agae rammed her good shoulder into his chest, knocking the wind out of him. As he kneeled over, she brought Wuuthrad high over her head, and then swung it down onto his neck, decapitating the mage. She sat back, wiping blood off her / "Are you okay?" Padraic asked, inspecting the wound. The arrow had pierced through her armor, and blood had stained the metal breast plate. It had already begun to dry, turning from crimson red to a dull brown. br / Agae held her hand over the wound, wincing as she did her best to heal it. "The most I can do is stop the bleeding, but I'll be fine," She nodded at the two dead assassins. "How did they find us that fast?"br / "I don't know." Padraic knelt down by the archer, picking up his dagger. It was a deadric weapon with a soft glowing green light. "Paralysis… I've been wanting one of these." br / "Seems like everyone is trying to kill us now." Agae muttered. She held a hand to her shoulder as she walked back to camp, her brother following / "Who were those guys?" Cassia asked, fear painted on her / "They're members of the dark brotherhood. They're a group of shady assassins who will kill anyone for you; that is, if you have the gold for it." Agae sat down on her bed roll, sliding off her upper armor to get a better view of her injury. Once again, she held her hand over it as a soft golden glow circled her shoulder, the wound slowly closing / "Why were they trying to kill you?"br / "Astrid doesn't really like us. I'd rather not get into it tonight." Padraic ran his hands through his chin-length hair. "You two get some sleep, I'll keep watch."br / Agae was already settled into her bedroll and asleep by the time he finished his / "So how did you two meet?" Cassia asked, her brown eyes staring up at him in / Padraic looked up at the imperial girl for a moment, and then returned his focus to the new deadric weapon he had stolen from the assassin. "We grew up together in Riften. My father and her mother died while we were both young, and later on my mother married her father."br / "Oh." She was silent for a moment, before asking again, "Who are the greybeards?" br / "They're an ancient order who live on top of High Hrothgar. They use the way of the voice, or the Thu'um, as most people call it. Agae and I have studied with them for a few years. We've only learned a few shouts though. They take years to master."br / "The Thu'um? What's that?"br / "It's like…it's like a sort of magic that people use by shouting. I'd demonstrate, but…" he nodded to the sleeping Nord next to him. "I'd rather not wake her right now."br / "Why? Is it loud?"br / "Very. Now get some sleep. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow."br / Cassia nodded, crawling back under her / Padraic put the knife down, pushing his long bangs out of his face. Tomorrow would be one hell of a day./p
